Kung Fu Tea

Came here per recommendation of a friend and I am happy to report it did not disappoint. Located on Old Norcross Road, Kung Fu Tea is in the same shopping center as Honey Pig, Orange Coffee, MJ Tacos and more. The shop itself is very clean and nicely decorated. They have about 8 tables that sits 2 per, a waiting bench by the door, and a long communal table in the back that can probably accommodate 8 – 10 people. Most people gets their teas go to anyways from what I saw, so seating is not really an issue. I do expect the place to be more crowded during spring & summer.
They have a decent menu but the beauty is you can customize your drinks in terms of ice and sugar levels, which is great because personally I find most bubble tea places to be too sweet. I ordered a hot Chai Milk tea w/​red bean at 30% sugar; and a red date tea. Note, the hot beverages only comes in the large size. The milk tea was $ 5 and the red date tea was $ 3.75, both very reasonably priced and you get a lot of tea.
Service was quick and friendly and both of my teas were very delicious. They also serve light snacks such as fries, Taiwanese chicken nuggets, and more, if you’re in the mood for more than just tea. My Taiwanese chicken nuggets were perfectly seasoned and it was a generous portion at just $ 4.
I have a feeling this place is going to turn me into a regular. Can’t wait to come back and try their cold beverages!

This place was my favorite boba place but unfortunately they only had a Doraville location which was very unfortunate for me because it was so far away. When I heard they made a Duluth location I practically cried! This place serves the best boba, hands down. By miles. Not even a question. Their tea is delicious, and their tapioca is DELICIOUS! I usually don’t like tapioca, but I get it without question at Kung Fu. Their other jellies are great as well. They have a range of flavors and you can adjust your sweetness level and ice level which is very useful. Their spicy chicken nuggets are also so so so good. I come here at least once a week!

Kung fu has great milk tea. The snacks are also good, but nothing that really strikes me as exceptional. The inside is typically clean and offers customers a nice place to hang out with friends and talk. If you’re looking for bubble tea this is the spot.

OREO MILK TEA!!!
Pro: Price is around the same price as the surrounding bubble tea shops. No baked good which is fine. Drinks are good and you can manage how much sugar and ice you get in it. Usually fast service. Random specials on drinks. OREO MILK TEA!!! OREO MILK TEA!!!
Con: Very small seating. Very loud, not a good place to study. People inside are loud as well. Insulation sucks; the windows fog up, in the winter it’s freezing inside, in the summer it’s humid inside.

I tried this location for the first time after having gone to their Buford location previously. The quality of the tea is the same to me. I usually get the yogurt grapefruit tea with nata jelly. I love that they use freshly squeezed grapefruit juice in the drink, it really makes a huge difference and slightly justifies the price ($ 6 for a large drink with jelly). I really do feel like Kung fu tea has some of the best bubble tea in Atlanta, but I only go when I feel like splurging since there are so many other cheaper options available.
A couple of difference for this location is use of buzzer system to let you know your drink is ready (wasn’t really necessary for us since the place is small and it wasn’t crowded when we went), more seating, and Taiwanese street food options. I haven’t tried any of the food yet but the price seems steep, for example $ 7 for chicken nuggets compared to $ 3 – 4 at Quickly and Sweet Hut.
Also, $ 5 minimum for credit card. Hasn’t really been an issue for me since most drinks I order come out to be over $ 5 anyways.

I was so excited to hear that Kung Fu Tea has opened another store that’s closer to me. No more having to drive half an hour to get my bubble tea in Doraville! This one is located in the same plaza as Orange Coffee, Honey Pig, and MJ tacos.
Kung Fu Tea is my favorite bubble tea place hands down. I really enjoy the concept of having each drink made customized to your liking. I also enjoy the milk based bubble teas, my favorite, like for many others, is the Oolong milk tea.
You can customize your drink based on it’s: sugar level, ice amount, hot or cold, and toppings (0.50 for each topping). I can proudly say that Kung Fu Tea holds its place in having the best tapioca. I believe they soak the tapioca in honey, but it certainly has the perfect chewiness and sweetness to it.
The only size for hot bubble teas are the large, and they’re usually about $ 4.00, excluding toppings.
I would highly suggest checking your drink when on the screen in front of the cashier, the workers may make the mistake of hearing you ask for regular tea instead of a milk tea.
If you’re hungry, you can also select a few snacks such as the Taiwanese chicken nuggets (I like them spicy) or Pocky! They also have fries, fried octopus, and other fried goodies.
After you’ve ordered, you will be handed a buzzer to let you know your drinks/​food is ready. I’m not sure if this addition if very necessary, but I suppose it serves its use during busy hours.
They have a minimum of $ 5.00 for credit cards, so bring a friend!

My favorite boba tea in the Atlanta area, hands down. The staff at both locations is friendly and service is prompt and efficient.
I was really happy when they opened a second location in Duluth because it’s less than 10 minutes away from my home (their first location is located off of Buford hwy in doraville)! It is in the same plaza as Emily J (hair salon), honey pig (kbbq place), and orange coffee (coffee shop) off of Old Norcross Road.
The interior of this place is very clean, as it is a new store. Upon walking in, there are tables and chairs and the register is towards the front and to the right side. It’s more narrow and long and there is more seating as you continue to walk deeper into the shop.
The Duluth area has a lot of different options for boba tea (quicklys, Saigon, sweet hut, boba mocha, etc) but I definitely like the boba from kung fu the best. It is always adjustable to my mood and taste and I can modify it however I want to. The boba is also always chewy and has great consistency. I’ve never had old or hard boba. I love the fact that you have the option to choose more or less sugar, ice, boba, and how accommodating they are (to those who are lactose intolerant, etc. thankfully, I’m not!). I do wish they had more noncaffeinated options (maybe a milk tea with no caffeine).
When I want a cold drink, I almost always order the taro milk green tea (M:$ 3.25 /​L:$ 4.25) with little sugar– this drink is already a bit sweet due to the taro. When I want something warm, I always get the hot oolong milk tea ($ 4) with half sugar. It has a great nutty flavor that warms me up when it’s cold outside.
Just a heads up: *$ 5 minimum for credit cards.
The staff at the Duluth location is awesome and so accommodating. They are extremely informative and try to assist if you are having a hard time choosing or if you are not familiar with their concept. They don’t rush you and really make you feel like a valued customer. I forgot who helped me out the last time I was there, but he was at the cash register and was so nice and helpful. Will try to update the next time I go with his name.
Like many of the other boba tea spots in the area, kung fu tea also offers different food items in addition to their beverages. Some of them include French fries, fried tofu, Taiwanese chicken nuggets, and fried mushrooms (ranging from about $ 3-​$ 7). I have yet to try the food items but will write a review on it when I do.
Great job to the staff here and of course I will continue to be a regular patron and recommend this place to others

I gave the original Kung Fu Tea 5 stars. So I’ll give location 5 stars as well.
I’ve been to the original location a million times (49 times according to my checkins – only off by 999,951). So the experience wasn’t anything new or exciting. However, everything was the same. Since everything was pretty much the same, I have to give this place 5 stars as well.
The flavor of my Golden Oolong Milk tea was good as the original location’s. The tapioca balls were the right texture. The flavor was still good. It’s still my favorite boba tea.
This location is bigger than the other one. They have 2, gender specific bathrooms now, not just a shared one. The bathrooms look fancy compared to the old location.
Instead of calling out the numbers, they have the pagers now. I guess with the bigger space, they can’t really call out numbers loud enough. So it’s probably a good idea.
I think the service was a bit slower at this location though. It seemed like I waited for my tea longer than the original location. Maybe the staff is being trained? Or since it’s a bigger location, they have to pump out more teas in less amount of time.
Their menu seems to have expanded. They have Taiwanese food now like chicken nuggets and a few rice dishes. I haven’t tried those. Honestly, I don’t go to bubble tea shops to eat. I go there to get sugary drinks.
The price is still expensive compared to their competitors. I don’t care. I’ll pay for this quality anytime.

hmm for the first location of «kung fu tea» (buhi location), I gave it a 2-​star which translates to «meh, I’ve had better» according to Unilocal’s rating scale. this location is no diff.
pleasant hill is just another twin of buhi when it comes to asian snack spots and bubble tea joints. so now that pleasant hill has all these bubble tea shops popping up and competing with one another, the question is. WHY WOULD YOU WANNA PAY MORE FOR THE SAME STUFF? I mean the syrups are not any diff from the other stuff. the only fresh thing that they got going on here when it comes to flavors is their freshly squeezed grapefruit. it’s also very pulpy, which is awesome! as for it being mixed with the tea alone, I think they need to work on their ratio/​recipe.
but anyways, this location stick with their modern vibe and doesn’t stray away from their original location too much. the menu and space does seem a tad bigger. they also hand you a buzzer for when your drink is ready.

Went there last night to enjoy the famous fried chicken wish to reminisce the flavor of my hometown, but only to find out that the CHICKEN cutlet was not fully cooked. Make sure y’all don’t consume any raw chicken :/ ://///

I got my usual jasmine green tea with boba, and it was very fragrant. They let you choose the sweetness (starting at 30% all the way up to 110%!) I always get the lowest amount of sugar cause I don’t like my milk tea too sweet. My boyfriend got the matcha milk and it was REALLY flavorful and thick (not in a bad way), but a little too sweet for my liking (they can’t adjust the sweetness for this drink).
We also got chicken nuggets and friend mushrooms. Both were yummy.
I think I saw a sign saying that they had free wifi, but I personally don’t think this place has a good study environment. Pretty noisy (not annoying noisy, but too noisy for studying) and mostly just people hanging out.

You can never have too many bubble tea options in Duluth. So while there was one location on Buford Highway, you can’t NOT have a location in Duluth, too.
After a big dinner at Iron Age, I was starving for something sweet, something milky… Something like the Kung Fu Tea’s Oolong Milk Tea with tapioca.
Parking is not the easiest, although it may be easier than the Doraville location. This location shares a lot with Honey Pig, MJ Tacos, Orange Coffee, and much much more. Sure, it brings in more post-​dinner clientele but it also deters those without a parking spot already from stopping in. I remember having trouble leaving the lot because of the amount of Asians loitering around. I understand, as I am also a stereotypical Asian loiterer, but where many Asian groups gather, there will also be many Asian loiterers.
What has always turned me off about Kung Fu Tea was the higher price for the teas, the additional cost per topping, and the $ 5 card minimum. There is no drink that costs $ 5 (at least, none that I would spend my money on to order), so of course I can either pay cash or buy someone else’s drink, neither of which is optimal. Also, the cost for a tea in Atlanta is the same (if not more) than the same tea in NYC. How is that possible, when it seems like we are supposed to pay a premium for everything in NYC? Ok, enough ranting about overpriced Kung Fu Tea for now. I’ve been spoiled by the dirt cheap prices in Asia.
This location is just as small as the Doraville location, maybe only slightly larger. Seating is still limited, but we were able to get a table for two (we snatched it up real quick when we saw the opening).
Kung Fu Tea has this new way of notifying you when your drink is ready with those vibrating buzzers you usually find at chain restaurants like Panera. I didn’t think it would be necessary until I realized I could barely hear when the servers called out the drink orders. So… Apparently they are very useful.
For some reason, when I asked for half sugar, that also meant half oolong. I could barely taste the oolong in my oolong milk tea. I’ve never had this problem at any other location, so I thought it was very odd. It wasn’t that the drink was more bitter due to less sugar, but the flavor of the oolong tea was less apparent. As much as I love milk, I would have ordered a Kung Fu Milk Tea if that’s what I wanted.
I miss Taiwanese tea shops, and I’m glad I’m going to get away from these shops that call themselves authentic very very soon.

It’s right by honey pig and orange coffee. I’m so glad they opened closer to my house. The original Kung fu tea is on Buford hwy. it was further for me. I tried here for the first time with my boyfriend when I was dropping him off at the airport. They definitely have unique and different kinds of bubble tea. Not your usual kind. And I would have to say hands down they make the best bubble tea out of everywhere else in my opinion. Although it is little more pricier than the other bubble tea places. But I do think you get what you pay for.
It is kind of small so I wouldn’t study here. But try their bubble tea :)

Super excited when Kung Fu Tea opened their 2^nd location in Duluth that’s convenient for all the Asians to go to who doesn’t want to drive far. Best quality ingredients for the tea brewing and their honey bubbles are fresh and have a hint of sweet honey in it. I usually don’t put any bubbles in my drinks but this place is an exception!
Always love their Golden Oolong Milk tea, Red Wow/​Green Wow Milk, Sunshine Pineapple and Yogurt Orange/​Yogurt green tea are all awesome!
Yet even better than the first store in Doraville, they offer finger snacks now. I ordered the chick nuggets and its surprisingly very good. Atmosphere is relaxing and chill, nice décor including restrooms lol

Finally open and bogo the first weekend, also if u check in they give u free snacks.
It’s Kung fu tea~ not bad but very pricey for this type of tea.

Love it! They center their focus right on their drinks, which means… quality and consistency. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but in this case, you DO get what you pay for. I personally love their Oolong Milk Tea and the Peach Oolong Tea (but can’t you tell I’m an oolong tea girl?)… and their tapioca is cooked properly and sweetened with honey.
The atmosphere is nice — cozy, but not uncomfortably so. The décor is bright and cheery. Good place for a casual hangout, but not so for studying. It’s loud. But that simply adds to the energy of this place!
Also… no credit card minimum!

Heard so many good things about this place and I can see why!
Such a nice alternative from the local sketch bubble tea places around Gwinnett.
Came here Sunday evening and wasn’t packed at all, unless you count the people sitting down which I don’t!
Service was friendly, though I couldn’t understand the cashier.
Ordered large taro milk tea with grass jelly to go and waited about 10 min.
I’ve yet to find a good place that serves quality grass jelly besides Snow Mountain until this place. I couldn’t finish the thing fast enough! I love my taro and my jelly and they make it just right.
But for 5 $. I am definitely not use to that but you do pay for the quality. Definitely the best taro + jelly around Gwinnett. Will have to try their black milk tea!

This place is new and you can definitely tell by the service and overall quality of of the food and drinks.
Like most new businesses Kung Fu Tea suffers from inconsistencies, this can be largely attributed to a new staff who is quite frankly still feeling out the place. Understandable for the most part.
Most bubble tea places are pretty deligent and quick with orders. This place took some time and I ended up waiting in line close to 10 – 15 minutes just to order. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed by the amount of customers they had. That buy one, get one free deal did not help the matter.
Being slow wasn’t even the main complaint. It was the drinks themselves. Asking for no ice usual means no ice for example. Also the balance or I could say portions of ingredients were either too much or too less and you could taste it when comparing 2 of the same drinks together.
I’m sure in time they are going to figure it out and become more consistent in certain areas. Overall it’s not a bad place, they just have some improvements they need to take care of first before they can become great.

This location serves the same drinks as the original location down Buford Hwy. right now they have a buy one get one free special for only 4 types. I got the Passion fruit and peach for the deal. Like many other places you can modify your drink with various toppings (it is $ 0.50 for each topping). I like their teas! One of my favorites is their oolong tea. The overall taste is better since it’s lighter and not as heavy like the typical milk teas.
When I went today it took longer to get my drink because they were quite packed since they just opened on Thursday. I’m just happy they opened in Duluth! Now I don’t have to go down Buford Hwy to get their drinks!

The second location of Kung Fu Tea has opened in the shopping center where Orange Coffee Bar and Honey Pig is in Gwinnett. Another addition to the many bubble tea places in Gwinnett, but a great one as it focuses more on teas that milk teas in my opinion.
Like the original Kung Fu Tea on Buford Highway but larger in size with more tables. They had a soft opening today 10/​1, but will officially open on Friday, ¹⁰⁄₂.
The difference between both locations is that this location in Gwinnett serves food like fried chicken, chicken nuggets, fried fish tofu, and fried mushroom. The menu is pretty use the same between both locations from what I remember.
Overall, the place is nice, but more than likely, I’ll frequent the one on Buford Highway as it is closer.
