I’ve been going to this particular Thai establishment for the last 4 years. The menu and have consistently been the same. Food is amazing, service is friendly, food is prepared relatively quick. I usually grab my food to go because their diner is packed but nonetheless the food is still piping HOT when I get home. This place has me hooked… I hardly give other Thai restaurants a shot. Parking seems to always be an issue but worth the hassle. Keep it up Thai Basil Express!

As a Southern California resident trying nor cal’s Thai food… Not very impressed… Watered down curry… Non spicy fried rice and noodles that could’ve used a lot more spicies knowing that it was a pad kee mow… You would think that with a highly diverse Asian population in the area that this place would serve better food

We come here when we need to quickly eat something and go. It has its pros n cons. Cons: Place is small– sometimes we literally are made to sit back to back with other customers with tables only 2 – 4 feet apart. Not a place to go if looking for quiet lunch/dinner and prefer good ambiance. Roti-prata is not same as how roti should be. Its definitely looks like frozen one, not freshly made, is oily and thick. Pros: Reasonable prices and reasonable food quantity. Basil fried rice is one of our favs.

My favorite & go-to spot when I’m craving & in the mood for some Thai cuisine. I’ve been coming year since college days from CSUEB, or since Ulferts Center complex had opened. Food is very delicious & intricately prepared, consistent in customer service & succulent flavors in their dishes. Wait times can be a drag during peak periods(i.e. Lunch Rush or Dinner Time), but don’t let the small spot deter you from coming. Average wait time during those busy hours are about 15 – 20 minutes. Their staff may look rushed or hurried, but they are just doing their jobs & that’s to serve their customers. Lunch Specials are only Monday through Friday & they’re a hit! I love that it comes with soup AND salad. On point. Gotta love it. Some favorite mentionables if you plan on dining here, or taking orders to go — Roti w/Curry, Crispy Tofu with Peanut Sauce, Crispy Garlic Fish Fillet, Grilled Barbeque Chicken(say well done), Tom Kha Soup, Pad See Euuw, Pad Thai, and Thai Iced Tea. I’ve yet to try other dishes, but on the norms — what I had listed are«a must» add to your order! You gotta try it for yourselves! :)

Come here only for their basil fried rice! Even though I don’t live in the area anymore, I make sure to visit at least once a year to try their rice. Most of the dishes here are average and salty, but the basil fried rice tastes great. More often than not, they have the perfect amount of spice. It is better to cancel out the spice with a neutral-tasting dish, like beans or something. They also have a catering option, where you can buy a whole tray of fried rice all at once– seems to be a good option for potlucks, etc. We complemented the fried rice with a chicken satay appetizer that was also spicy. It might not have been the best idea to get two spicy dishes, but at least we had unlimited water. In terms of parking, this plaza fills up fast, so just be persistent. There tends to be secret parking spots in the back(behind the restaurant). There are also a couple dessert places in this plaza, which is convenient

One of the best thai in Tri-Valley. I’m frequent visitor here almost every other week. I have being going here for last 6 – 7 yrs. Overall Rating 4⁄5. Amabiance: 4⁄5(Considering a small Thai joint). Always clean and well managed. Staff: 4⁄5. This place gets very busy during lunch hrs & the staff manages it really well. Food 5⁄5: My Favourates are Pad-Kee-Mow, Basil Eggplant Chicken, Coconut water. Obviously all other curries & rice dishes are good too. But the three standout for me. Pad-Kee-Mow 5⁄5: After having it here i dont like it anywhere else. I tried at other places and i seen the difference at some places it is orange in color & a bit soggy. Probably it is different type of preparation which i personally dont like. Basil Eggplant Chicken 5⁄5: A must try if you have not. Nicely cooked eggplant with onions, bell peppers & basil ina spicy sauce. You have a option of chossing your choice of meat. Coconut Drink 5⁄5: I have not had so good & closest to fresh coconut water anywher else. They also have coconut meat in the water which is the best part of it.

My friend and I were visiting someone who lives up here and we were craving Thai food and someone recommended this place so we decided to give it a try! We went on a Friday night so the place was kinda packed, but we didn’t wait too long for a table. For a drink I decided to get Thai iced tea. The Thai tea was okay, I felt like it needed more milk. It could’ve been better. As for an entrée I got my usual pad kee-mow. It was delicious and I loved how they actually made it spicy! Some places say it will be spicy, but when it comes out there’s no spice at all. They portions were pretty big and they gave you a lot of chicken. Overall, I’m really glad I came here and I would definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

My mom and grandmother both love getting their red bean drinks and coconut rice from this restaurant. The red mung bean drink is only made when the owner or manager seem to be on duty as the rest of the staff is unsure about how to make it. Overall the drink is sweet but not to sugary which is how my mom likes it as she didn’t grow up with many sweets and American smoothies have way to much sugar. The coconut rice is very sweet and also really sticky, nothing special about it. I will say if you are short on time or in a rush this is probably not the place to eat for a quick meal. Waiting for the 2 drinks took about 10 minutes and waiting on food will take about 20 – 25 for dine in. Sometimes when I call ahead and show up 30 minutes later I still have to wait 10 – 15 for my food. They are a very small restaurant that is very busy and has many customers both dine in and take out.

Food was decent, nice neighborhood restaurant. However service for sit down was poor. Place pretty empty but when I ask for the four of us to be seated in larger table, I was rejected because it was being saved for party of 5 or more — no party larger then 3 came in while we ate. So we squeezed together and waited ~15 min before they took our order(fine if they were busy but there was only 2 other tables with customers!) Food was ok — children did not like the pineapple fried rice because it curry powder. I liked it though. No one ever checked on us, which is fine. But when we asked for the bill and box — they didn’t help us clear a couple of plates so we would have room to box item.

Not as good as I remembered it. Increased the prices but quality decreased. Ordered fish cake, it seemed to crumble. Also got a roti. Super flakey that it kept breaking yet tough to chew. For entrée ordered a pineapple fried rice. Pretty much flavorless. This used to be my favorite thai restaurant):

Seriously? Asked why the Pad Thai we ordered is more expensive on the check than what’s on the menu. Menu states $ 9.45. Check: $ 11.95. Waitress: «We changed the price new years but haven’t updated the menu yet.» Wth? Turns out if you want shrimp only they’ll charge you an extra $ 2.50. Moral of the story… Read the fine print and ask more than one person if you want to right answer.

Inconsistency has been what I experienced. Absolutely love the first few times but recent visits have been bad. Ordered basil chili chicken, it was minced like chicken not even sliced. Ordered BBQ beef and it was only a few pieces and no veggie at all. I think I will stop going for a while. Also worth noting that take outs always have smaller portions than dine ins.

On my very first visit here I was sold. I got the Roti Curry and the yellow curry was nice and thick and had the right amount of spices. My frequent visits have been so so. Especially when I ordered the Yellow curry dish the curry has been watery and thin and did not have the same texture or taste to it. My last visit I ordered the curry roti and the bowl had like two sips of curry. The bowl was ¼ filled. Very inconsistent. I love thai cuisine and I go out to eat often. I really wanted to love this place but because I only really had one good visit which was my first visit I think it just may be my last now.

If you want consistently good Thai food, this is the place. I always order the fried rice and the basil chili seafood dish. You can’t go wrong with the Roti and curry to start the meal. Pros:(1) food comes out fairly fast,(2) nice portions(3) consistent dishes — I’ve been here around 6 times and I left satisfied every time. Cons:(1) only seats 30 or so. This means during prime dinner hours, you will wait outside. There is no waiting inside due to the small space.(2) service is mediocre — they do not comp anything or offer anything to correct mistakes they make,(3) very tight spaces — not much room between you and other patrons

I really like Thai Basil in Berkeley so I was surprised to see Thai Basil Express here in Dublin. It is definitely more of a sit-in restaurant than the one in Berkeley. The prices are also increased here but I guess that was given since it’s in Dublin. I ordered the pad see ew with ground chicken(it comes with broccoli as well) and it was delicious! They’re super packed during lunch so I got mine to go. They line the bottom of the to go box with foil to keep the heat from ruining the box. When I got back to the office and I opened up the box, co-workers were telling me how delicious it smelled and yeah it was delicious! I just wish there was more meat though. There was definitely a plethora amount of noodles and a decent amount of broccoli. They just need to work on the ratios here. The flavor was on point. They added the right amount of the dark soy sauce and spice. I’ll miss this place when I leave. I can’t really comment on the service since I got mine to go. They were really busy when I ordered and I didn’t have to wait too long for my food. The cashier was generous and I was happy with my visit.

First time here, when I first arrived it was hustlin, bustin busy. I had to park in the back section of this shopping center. I arrived around 12:40pm. I had to wait a bit for the person I was meeting. It all worked out though. The gal I met had some kind of a curry dish and thai iced tea. I had decided to order something with ginger in it. Ginger is great and healthy!!! So, on the menu it was item#30 with I believe the Basa fish. I ate most of my meal, which also came with a side of rice. I can tell this place does a great business. The other thing I check when eating out is the restrooms, it could have been a little bit better. All in all a pleasant experience. I’m not real familiar with thai food, I just know that some of it can be spicey.

Stopped in for a late lunch with a few friends before we went on with our Sunday funday. The restaurant is located in a little plaza with other Asian restaurants and shops. Parking was not difficult and there wasn’t a wait for a table since it was nearing the end of their lunch hours. My friends and I ordered three entrees to share family style. We got the pad kee mow with beef, the spicy basil chicken, and red curry with chicken. Pad kee mow: a little oily but it was still fine to eat. Spicy basil with chicken: this was good but it wasn’t amazing good; it was a bit basic. Red curry: the sauce was a bit thick but flavor was good. It wasn’t as spicy as I wanted it to be though. The chicken pieces were portioned well, and were bite sized so it was nice to not have to deal with large chicken pieces. The bamboo shoots however tasted like they were from a jar or can. Overall a good place to just get your Thai food fix, and decently priced, but I’ve had better Thai food elsewhere.

I think this is a good option for Thai food. I noticed the prices for the noodle dishes are $ 1 cheaper than other places. I got Pad See Yew with chicken and some places charge $ 10 for it but here it’s $ 9. Doesn’t hurt to save a bit of money! I think the portion of Pad See Yew was good. There was a lot of chicken too; they didn’t skimp out. The service was friendly there also. I’ll probably be back again!
