I contacted Bill Franks to DJ my daughter’s wedding, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the job he did. He was so professional, such a great communicator about the details of the event, he was very responsive to all our communications and did exactly what we wanted. He provided guidance when we needed it and took our direction when we had it, and he was personally a pleasure to work with. And his prices are so reasonable! But even more than all that, it was apparent at every step that Bill really CARED about making our event as smooth and memorable as it could be. He took the time to get to know the bride and groom, to make sure the music was just what they had in mind, he has spectacular equipment which he set up early, and he made the whole event run smoothly. As the bride’s mother, it was such a relief to not have to worry about a thing during the reception. Before hiring Bill I’d looked around at some other DJs, but was worried that they would kind of dominate my event. No worry about that with Bill! He just quietly, efficiently made everything work! I can’t imagine our event without him, and I’d give him an enthusiastic recommendation to anyone who wants the very best!

We had seen Bill in action at a friends wedding and loved him. We ended up booking him for our wedding this past October. He did the music and lighting for us (ceremony and reception).
His professionalism (both on the day of and in the months leading up to the wedding) was second to none. He came to our home to provide a full consultation and gave so many suggestions that we hadn’t even thought of. This was helpful in and of itself as there are so many details in a wedding that things can be overlooked. He made sure that didn’t happen. He kept in touch through the planning and stayed on top of everything. He also did a quick check in right before the wedding for the last minute/​in case type of things.
On the day of, he did a great job! He was dressed to impress and had us set up and ready to go for our ceremony. We were married in City Hall in SF, so making sure our guests were able to hear was important as it is a massive space. He had a mic and speakers set up and the sound was perfect. It was also nice that the speakers were small so that it didn’t distract. At the reception, he kept everyone on their feet dancing all night! The music was amazing — non. stop. fun! The MC-​ing was done perfectly too — keeping the evening flowing and our timeline on track but not being intrusive. The lighting was also solid. He had mood lighting set up during dinner to dress up the otherwise bland walls and ceiling and then had some fun «party» light going when the dancing started.

The nice thing about Bill is that he recognizes that it is your day and will as involved as you want him to be in the process and the day of. At our friends wedding, they wanted more continuous music and less MC’ing and it worked out perfectly. At our wedding he did great with the music and did more MC’ing and basically planed a more prominent role — moving us through each stage of the reception (but not in a cheesy way). He was also very in tune with the guests, if a song «wasn’t working» he was able to quickly change it up to make sure that everyone was on their feet.
Another important thing to note, is that Bill has contingency plans set up to make sure that the day goes perfectly even if a glitch may come up. Being a bit Type A — I loved this about him! He really does think of everything and played a big part in ensuring that our day was fun, memorable, and stress free.
Also, something very important when it comes to weddings — pricing. He was very conscious of our budget and was very fair in pricing.
I’d fully recommend trusting Bill for your wedding, or whatever important event that you are hosting. You’ll find him to be well prepared, honest, and in tune with your vision.

Planning the reception for our wedding with Bill Franks didn’t feel like work, it was fun! He genuinely likes weddings, is kind, fun, professional and knows how to get the party started, and can keep it going! The ambiance was beautiful thanks to the lighting he provided, and the name GOBO that circulated on the building was a
huge hit. We loved working with Bill. If only we could plan more events, so we could work with him some more.
