I’ve used KW as my mechanic in the past and I’m glad he is working there. You can trust his ability to maintain your vehicle.

I contacted Brandon about two weeks ago about an estimate to install some parts and I had yet to hear back from him the following week so I tried to leave a vm with one of the owners named Joe. Anyway this week comes around and I call them first thing in the morning asking to speak to Joe and the receptionist says that he isn’t available. Then I start telling her it was about an estimate that I contacted Brandon two weeks prior about and was still waiting to hear back. Needless to say, she eventually transferred me to Brandon who remembered who I was but didn’t actually know what were the specifics of my request for estimate. To me that is unacceptable because it shows me a lack of follow through and customer service on their part. Whatever their reason is for not reaching out to me it seems painfully obvious that they are either too busy and they can’t take any more work or my money isn’t good with them.
As a comparison, I had actually reached out to a higher volume shop the other week with the exact same request and they came back to me the next day with a complete estimate.
Sometimes I don’t get why the most simple things are so hard for people to do.

Joe, the owner has given me an honest effort of contacting me to make things good so I am upping the review to four stars and I will be updating once I receive the actual service.

Hands down the best shop to take your BMW to. The shop is very clean and ordered as well as staffed by an awesome staff. Everyone is very polite and knowledgeable about BMWs, and best of all, they’re all really honest. If the building and staff weren’t enough, their pricing is very fair as well. There has been no other shop I have visited that has given the same level of awesome service as PT.
About my last trip, I had to have a clutch replaced. So I set up an appointment with them and brought the car in. Essentially as soon as the keys were passed off to the desk person they began work on the car. While I was waiting for someone to come by to pick me up I waited in the front office. Again, a very clean and comfortable place to be, with the usual amenities you find with an automotive service place. While waiting one of the guys came in and said he had some news on my repair. Often never a good sign, he walked me over to show me I had an issue with my flywheel as well and recommended I replaced it. Though before the recommendation of replacement, we also discussed refinishing the flywheel and leaving it in the car. After some discussion we decided to replace it. I have to say, while additional costs to a repair are never fun, they made it the most enjoyable and easy it could possibly be. The even better part came as they had quoted me an end of day completion of the repair, and it was actually done a fair bit earlier.
So overall, clean and organized shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great pricing, and awesome turn around time. Seriously, if you have a BMW, there is no where else you should be taking your car. Heck, I drive from the North Bay just to come here. Best shop ever!

In the beginning it took me a while to find the right shop for my M3. I’ve been coming to Performance Technic for years now and there’s no other shop I trust with my car than these guys. Joe and the team are true enthusiasts that have been providing excellent quality service since day one.

Performance Technic has extensive knowledge in performance upgrades and track optimization. Additionally, they provide reliable and trustworthy service for normal street cars as well. Recently, they fixed my grandparents’ 2005 X5 when it needed new brakes and its door handle repaired. Their concern for customers inspires me to send all my family and friends to them without reservation.

Strictly BMW! This shop does everything from maintenance, street or track needs. I’ve been looking for a shop in the Bay Area to take my E90 335xi to and I’ve found the place!
My E90 is my daily driver and I’ve got a long commute so the miles rack up. The maintenance has got to be up to date. So far I’ve had the front brakes serviced and oil change done. The service is fast and the techs know what they’re doing. They even plugged in my car to try and pull codes for me when I mentioned my gears were slipping. I will be returning for more service on my car and to have the walnut blasting done.
Performance technic has got a clean shop and a bevy of awesome BMW’s in the lot and shop. A big plus too, they’re open on Saturdays! Will definitely be back to continue my car service and to have my upgrades installed!

Amazing customer service. And amazing work. Brandon and Wing are very knowledgable and helped me with all my questions and services! And it was just a plus seeing all the other cars to see personally some future mods for myself! Btw nice f80 joe!

These guys are the real deal, top notch service for any BMW owners in the Bay Area. I got my 2003 M3 diagnosed for a dreaded SMG issue at their previous location. (before they moved) Ernesto was exceptionally helpful when I contacted them, and although they were moving, he still managed to get me an opening to diagnose my SMG problems. My car had a rare issue in which it would delay shifts, which forced me to drive in limp mode. I went to have breakfast while getting it diagnosed, and in just an hour they found the problem. Joe and Wing were very knowledgable and experienced, as they managed to isolate the problem that my car was having. It turned out that my actuator (hydraulic mechanism) had failed, and they even informed me how many times this part has failed in my car. Wow, right! Ernesto informed me that the repair was expensive and not very cost-​effective nor logical if I was going to keep the car. He mentioned to me that although SMG transmissions are great, they are notorious for being prone to constant problems and repairs.
He then suggested that for almost the same price, I could get the 6MT swap, which would not only fix my car’s problem, but also give me the real feel for the E46 M3. I thought it over and after agreeing to his suggestion, he scheduled me an appointment a couple months down the line in order for me to get the money situated and such.
When I brought the car in at their new shop, (amazing ambiance) and was truly impressed with their service.
Along with the 6MT swap, Ernesto and the guys also recommend that I get some overdue maintenance that my M needed. They did my 6MT swap, (new clutch included) and installed a new flywheel which is not included — but I was informed that there was much play in the plates so that it needed to be replaced asap.
Maintenance List: 6mt swap, clutch, flywheel, RTABs, engine clamps, (which were previously done incorrectly with wrong clamps) new 15 mm spacers, and they also installed my new ST coilover suspension (My suspension was previously incorrectly installed and they did an amazing job correctly installing the suspension with new rear shock mounts as well).
I am more than enthusiastic about my experience at Performance Technic. My 6MT transmission feels and looks OEM, as if the car had came out the factory like this. The new transmission and much needed maintenance gives the car an amazing feel and truly a sheer driving pleasure.
I am extremely thrilled with how my M drives and even more ecstatic with Performance Technic’s service and professionalism. I recommend them to any BMW and especially M owners out there in the Bay Area seeking legit, bespoke BMW service and performance specialists.

Rarely have I seen nor have I ever imagined that I would rate and recommend a shop or service to a full 5 stars until you actually get, see and understand the «intelligence» and «skilled delivery» that goes with the service rendered. Incredibly impressed w/​the attention to detail this shop brings to the table. During a routine oil change/​transmission flush, Dillon [one of their techs] personally took me out to the shop area to highlight a few areas that should be addressed on my car. This really helped me to understand what was going on, and more importantly, allowed me to understand the ‘why’ behind the additional work being recommended.
Solid work, fair pricing, and knowledgeable/​friendly staff. I’ll be taking both of my cars back here for future maintenance and repairs.

1^st time at this shop.
Had electrical gremlins throwing all sorts of error codes causing me major frustration.
Went to both of my BMW forums for advice on a good shop and Ptech was the winner.
Conclusion: Add me to the list of believers. 5 stars all the way around even though i had to wait 3 weeks to get my car in there (they looked busy so plan ahead)

Shop is clean, nice, orderly, and easy to get to from BART (I’m from SF). They speak Bimmer fluently and I will definitely be going back there for their expertise!

Techs get 5 stars for knowledge and friendliness and I trust them more than anyone I have worked with. Manager gets 2 stars as he seems to lack in both areas. Shop appearance gets 5 but their ability to answer the phone (btw your automated system needs to be appropriately programmed) and effectively communicate gets 1. Their ability to keep to a schedule gets 2 stars.

I have been a car enthusiast for many years and have had my fair share of experiences when it comes to shops. Performance Technic is the best I have ever been to for the following reasons. Joey, Matt and all the staff there are highly knowledgeable. They take the time to explore and explain all the options, have excellent communication and are responsive to questions sent via email, and when they work on your car you can watch and ask questions which I appreciate.
They are actually also a racing team that participates in racing events so you know they are truly passionate about BMW’s. My personal experience with Matt when I had an issue with an aftermarket exhaust really demonstrated his ingenuity. When other shops could not solve the problem and simply said «there’s nothing we can do», Matt was able to come up with an out of the box solution that resolved the problem perfectly.
Although they initially specialized in BMW they now also have a Porsche master tech. Ptech will do everything from routine and preventative maintenance, to tuning and aftermarket/​custom work, to full on race preparation.
This is hands down the best place to take your BMW/​Porsche in the Bay Area.

Had my clutch and flywheel job done here, lowest quote I could find in all of the bay area and an awesome place to leave your baby. I really trust these guys to do awesome work, which is hard for me to say. Also got to take a peek at some of the sexy race cars + the 1M3 v8 swap (drooling)

As always, despite having moved to a completely new location just six weeks ago, Performance Technic does it again! They take such great care of my cars I don’t know why sometimes I bother going elsewhere because of convenience and proximity.
Although I hike all the way out here to get my cars serviced, this new location is much better for those of us who may need to WF[wherever] to get stuff done but also take care of business and maintenance on our vehicles. They have a much larger area for the lobby and reception now with beautiful race photos & dark furniture. They also have a back area with a conference table, chairs, cables and fast wifi for you to work while your car gets worked on.
The receptionist is extremely friendly and Joey & Matt as well as Ernesto are still amazing folks!
Pretty much I’ve come here for everything from a subframe reinforcement on the E46 M3 to Inspections I & II. I will be back again for another Inspection II soon … I don’t trust anyone else to touch my car but Ptech.
I think when you combine passion with knowledge you end up with a winning formula. Great job guys :)

These guys are the absolute best for bmw. They can do anything from building a racecar to fixing your daily driver. They are very honest and fair when it comes to the work. I live in San Francisco and take my car here!!! The most trustworthy and reliable repair shop for bmw hands down

2014 update for the ONLY shop that touches the insides of my M3. It is a shame Unilocal only allows me to give a maximum of 5 stars.
I think I have a strong basis for my super high opinion of P-​Tech. They handle all the maintenance, they’ve installed Dinan upgrades and they recently did the SMG to manual conversion on my car. Joe, Matt and the entire staff at P-​Tech are dedicated to bimmers and their love for BMW’s shows in their high-​quality work. I certainly don’t mind the trek from SF to Dublin in order to have my car worked on by P-​Tech.
Bottom line: If you love your bimmer, take it to P-​Tech. And, now that they have a fancy new shop in Dublin, even more reason for bimmer-​lovers to give P-​Tech their business!

The only shop I trust my e39 m5 with. All the work is done right the first time and the staff is very knowledgeable. The only con I can think of would be that they are always booked, haha.

I had a great experience here. The new place is very clean, staffs are professional, and most of all they are all BMW enthusiasts.
The location is close to hwy 580.
Ernesto, service specialist is easy to talk to, and you can get actual email from them! No other shops reply back through email ever!
They are very honest about their price too. Usually, most of shops charge by the book. It means even mechanics can finish the job in 1 hour, if the book says it takes 2 hours, they charge 2 hours of labor.
Not Performance Technic. They are expert on bmw, and I am sure they have done the same jobs over and over, which means they can do a job much faster than what the book says. Thats how they charge the labors.
The lot is full of bmw M series and 30% of them are race cars with full roll cages. What a great site!
If you are true bmw lover, you must bring your car here.
The only down side is that you need to make an appointment at least 2weeks ahead of time. They are super busy.

Hands down one of the best BMW service shops you can find. I trust them with my BMWs!
They do amazing custom work and honest about the amount of work required. Even though I am in San Francisco, I still will drive out here cause I trust them.
