East Bay Rabbit Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to education, adoption and rescue. We have been rescuing rabbits from shelters in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2009. In 2014, we found homes for over 150 rabbits. We are a registered 501©3.

We work closely with the Tri-​Valley Animal Shelter in Dublin, as well as helping out other public shelters. We have a regular adoption event at the Petsmart in Dublin EVERY Saturday from noon to 3 pm and are open by appointment during the week. We offer nail trims and grooming to the public at our events by appointment.

All of our rabbits live in foster homes. They are socialized, spayed/​neutered, litter box trained and ready for a forever home. We work closely with our rabbits, know their personalities and are able to help you find the perfect match for your family.

We welcome both new and experienced rabbit owners. We suggest that you do not get set up in advance but wait till we discuss rabbit care together. We do not recommend many of the items in the rabbit aisle of local pet stores. We share our knowledge from years of bunny experience to recommend the best housing and easiest ways to integrate a rabbit successfully into your family and home.

History

Established in 2009.

East Bay Rabbit Rescue was originally formed to promote rabbit adoption and education. Since 2011, we have been rescuing rabbits from local shelters. Rabbits are the third most frequently surrendered animals at shelters. Our goal is to see empty cages. In addition to our own foster bunnies, we bring rabbits from 5 local shelters to our adoption events. Adopt don’t shop. Help us achieve our goal of «Project Empty Cages».

Want a well cared for, socialized, spayed/​neutered, healthy rabbit? This is the place. They rescue from shelters and take in strays — all volunteer organization working tirelessly for the bunnies. Transporting from all over the east bay to be spayed/​neutered at For Paws, they always arrive in a wonderful nest of grass hay. Volunteers from Fremont to Pleasanton pick them up after surgery and give them expert care until they are ready to go out and show their fabulous personality and find their forever home. Never adopted a rabbit from here, so this review is not based on adoption experience. This review is for the receptionist who answered my call.
She picks up the phone with a horrible attitude and says ‘hello?!’ No greeting, just flat out irritated.
I found a stray rabbit and called for shelter recommendations. Judging by how careless she sounded about finding this rabbit a home, I don’t see how they can be any good to the rabbits they have here.

I can’t recommend East Bay Rabbit Rescue highly enough. We were totally new to rabbits but my daughter really wanted one. We ended up with two to keep each other company and the group’s help – particularly Joan’s – has been paramount to learning how to take care of them and enjoy them. She is always there when we have a need or a question. And we love our bunnies!

Wonderful rescue! The people running the show here are really passionate about what they’re doing, and are all extremely knowledgable about rabbits. The rabbits are all well cared for and healthy as well. I adopted my little boy from them a little over a year ago and not a day has gone by where I regret it. When adopting, the rescue makes sure you know all the basics of caring for a rabbit to keep it happy and healthy. I believe they also litter box train all the rabbits, and spaying/​neutering is included. This group has many lovely bunnies in need of homes, and I highly recommend getting your next family member through them.

Very good experience in adopting a wonderful pair of bunnies. Makes you want to get a hundred of them! Very focused on getting you setup right and making sure you and the bunny are a good match. I am very glad I went this route instead of just buying a bunny from a random person. Also check out their hay and other supplies.

Great people — they were very friendly and helpful! My wife and I adopted a wonderful bunny, and he’s my best friend! They make sure all of their bunnies are spayed and neutered and most are litter box trained. They come from good foster homes — very well cared for. You also get a Rabbits for Dummies book, free food, coupons, etc. They go out of their way to make sure you are ready to care for your bunny:) Please visit an adoption event soon and adopt. They are every Saturday. You will love your new bunny!
