GETTHEPUPUSAS! They are amazing, our favorite is Revuelta(pork and cheese). Don’t forget the spicy cabbage and salsa. Delicious and filling, sometimes we buy a couple of extras just to have them on hand. Be prepared, they are made fresh as they should be, so you will need to wait for your order. Waitresses are always sweet and friendly. The restaurant is sometimes a little warm(they do cook in there!) but if that bothers you, get your fabulous pupusas to go and eat them at home in your pajamas. Problem solved.

Good Salvadorian food. The pupusas were good but the cabbage in vinegar was ok along with the salsa. I just could not give them 4 starts because the service took forever maybe because the were understaffed but I spent 20 min just to get my order in.

I had to wait for over an hour, my atol de elote was cold, I ordered a chicken soup and they gave us a very cold corn on the cob for the soup. The food was mediocre, waited too long to get it, very loud karaōke singing going on there on the weekends. This was my first time and last time at this place. Will never go back.

Been coming here since I was a kid. The wait is long but this is what comes with good food. The pupusas are made fresh. I am from Honduras and although it is not our native plate, it is a traditional plate and I must say this place comes oretty darn close. I even ate pupusas in Miami made by Hondurans themselves and it was not good. This Salvadorian place is truly a gem!

Food its just ok, but service is terrible, under staff, long, long wait, prices decent, but there was a kareoke just blasting and the people singing were terrible– the place is really really small for having music that loud, I ask them to lower it, they did not care about, my five year old was just about to cry, we we’re in there for a good 25 – 30 minutes I should a left sooner, it was to the point I could not talk with the person action the table, go somewhere where they want your business… Also it was 54 degrees outside and they were running the ac, brought it to their attention and they didn’t care about, our party of 13 ended up leaving…

Avoided 5 star rating only because I don’t think this place wants an influx of Unilocalers demanding quick service and Instagram-ready presentation. Reading current reviews was an eye-rolling experience. This is a classic family restaurant willing to take time out of their primary business(giving local expats a place to gather and enjoy food from home) to serve you popusas to go. Yes, it will take 20 minutes. Plan accordingly. Yes, the hostess will make you wait at the counter until the restaurant patrons are cared for. No, it is not«under-staffed,» it’s family-operated; there’s a difference. Very good popusas, my favorite was the pork and queso. They have a Tuesday $ 2 special and a daily large order special(10 for $ 14 I think), definitely worth it.

Im actually pretty upset about this. They have good food, but they are definitely not good for pick-up orders at all! EVERY time i call for pick up, i have to wait at least 15 minutes for my order. I can call at for example 1pm. They tell me that it will be ready by 130pm. I get there at 140pm… and I STILL have to wait 15 mins for my order. Why do i even call ahead of time??? And today… wow…the waitresses were NOT attentive ATALL!!! I stood in front of the counter and no one greeted me or asked if ive been helped and no… i was not being or looking rude at all. They took so long on the orders that one guy actually walked out without his order. I like their pupusas… a lot… but they REALLY need to work on their order time and cust service. As much as i like this place, I’ll be looking for another pupusa place.

Came here on a random Monday afternoon craving some pupusas, and Unilocal directed me to this place right near my house. Upon entering, it seems like it is more of a «sit-down» restaurant since there is a sign saying«seat yourself» and lots of tables, TVs, a few waiters, and apparently Karaōke/Live Band on weekends. However, I ended up waiting in line at the register where a waitress was taking«to-go» orders of the people in front of me. I wasn’t given a menu or anything until it was my turn to order, so the waitress gave me a menu and then excused herself to take care of the other patrons. This place is really understaffed. Finally, she came back and we ordered the mini-pupusa special(10 mini pupusas for ~$ 13). We mixed and matched the pupusa revuelta(cheese and fried pork), pupusa con frijol(cheese, beans, fried pork) and a plain pork pupusa. After we ordered, we paid and sat down on a bench to wait for our food, which was supposed to take about 15 minutes according to the waitress. I could see the pupusas being made by hand in the kitchen, so 15 minutes wasn’t a big deal for me to get freshly made food. However, 15 minutes turned into almost half an hour of waiting, which made me upset. Finally, we get our food packed up and ready to go with the fixings on the side(hot sauce and a coleslaw-like garnish). We got home and devoured those mini pupusas! I ate 3 and felt satisfied, not bloated or stuffed. Pretty solid pupusas and they tasted so fresh! Yummy! To avoid the wait, I would suggest calling your order in ahead and picking it up later. 5STARSFORTHEPUPUSAS, 1STARFORTHEWAIT, 3STARSOVERALL! I’m phoning in my order next time!

I came here for lunch, took a while for anyone to acknowledge me. Waited about half hour for my caldo de pollo. When I finally got it, I was disappointed to see one piece of chicken, one piece of carrot, one piece of squash and some overcooked Italian zucchini in my broth. That thing splashed all over me, I got burned and my shirt got stained. The tortillas were great though. Waitresses were nice-when they actually serve you. Bleh.

Found this place through the reviews in Unilocal. What can I say, the service was great. The waitress was very friendly and courteous. Now for the food, oh it was delicious. As an appetizer had the yucca frita and chicharron. Then had a ruevelta con frijoles and plenty of cortido. They give you all the cortido you want and that is the best part. Will be back again.

LOOOOOVE the pupusas! I am salvadorean and I’m pretty picky when it comes to pupusas. They are so delicious here! I also got an order of empanadas but those were terrible! Do not get those! The plantain was way to hard and the inside was cold. I gave it 4 stars because of the empanadas and the long wait for the food. I have not tried any of the other food there so I can’t comment on it!

Love this place always take my family here its great service delicious food and great environment. Have spoke to the owner a few times and also met a lot of nice people there. My son loves there cheese pupusas while I love their pupusa revueltas. Only reason I cant give them 5 stars is because the staff has changed and bow have to different waiters who joke around a little to much and are sometimes rude. Before they had 2 different waiters who always had a smile on there face and were doing there job just the way its supposed to be done

It’s not often you go to a restaurant and are amazed, at first bite. We ordered the lunch special, one generous revuelta pupusa, rice, beans, drink, curtido, chips and salsa… all for…$ 5.50 each! Simply put, the food is very yummy, the price was spot on and the place was clean. Tuesdays, they have a pupusa special $ 1.99 each. Plan accordingly, place your phone order and pick up.

El Salvadoreño is an unassuming and nice little establishment. Located in the dingy part of the Big Lots strip mall(needs a facelift). However DON’T let that deter you . Their food is actually pretty decent. Their Pupusas are ABOVE par ! They are decently sized and very well priced. They also have fresh ‘Curtido’ to go along with them. Although the service can be a little slow at times, the employees are courteous. They even have Karaōke, which I’m not a fan of, but most customers seem to enjoy. They serve a great Michelada and have a nice ‘Happy Hour’.

We were craving pupusas the other night and I had El Salvadoreno bookmarked for a while. We tried one of each type of pupusa and the one with cabbage and cheese tasted the best. They had agua fresca and I tried the guava because it’s not a common agua fresca flavor at most restaurants. It was a little grittier than I would have liked. Next time, I want to try the quesadilla(not the traditional kind; it’s almost like a dessert cheesecake!)… At least the El Salvador kind I tried at Porto’s before… Their service is kind of slow, but the employees were nice and pretty patient with us not knowing what we wanted to try. I’ve never had Salvadoran cuisine until one of my coworkers introduced it to me. I’ve been to El Salvadoreno three times now. It’s located on the northeast side at the Buena Vista and Huntington Dr intersection.(to the left of the Big Lots). So what is Salvadoran food and what should you order? Well their most notable dish is the pupusa which is a handmade corn flour tortilla and stuffed with either cheese and/or fried pork and beans. I would also suggest their yuca frita(deep fried cassava root. like a potato) or a nice sweet corn tamale. You’ll also see big containers with cabbage in it. It’s called curtido(a pickled cabbage usually with onion and carrot) I also noticed they use a lot of tomato in their dishes. You can see it’s an ingredient in almost every dish under the Combinations. I’ve tried their Fajitas de Polle(chicken with onions, bell peppers and tomatoes). They have Lunch Specials! It’s from Monday-Friday @ 11AM to 3PM. $ 5.50 for a Taco Plate or a Pupusa.(served with rice and beans and a 16oz drink). Just one pupusa is already quite filling(at least for me) plus rice and beans will put you out. I also love their Fried Plantains(Platanos Fritos Solos) for dessert They actually have plenty of seating now. They expanded into the building next door. I’m just knocking off a few points because service is really slow(It took about 45 mins for our food to come out and longer for others). The first time we ordered inside then went to Big Lots and came back. The second time we ordered and waited inside for our food. We had 7 people in our party and were there for 1.5 hours, my pupusa was burnt and they forgot my drink. The third time we came, we got excellent service.

Yucca Frita with a little lemon N salt, Platanos Fritos con crema, Pupusas de Frijol y queso and calabasa con queso OMG!!! It’s heaven in your mouth. It is sooo good. I don’t know about their other dishes; all i know is, if I’m craving pupusas this is the place. If your a vegetarian with a dairy exception and a flavorful palette, you will enjoy this place. It’s small and cultural, and yup! you will eat in about a half hour from the time you place your order, So if your impatient don’t bother, BUT believe me it’s worth the wait! you can always do take Out. generously filled pupusas, Flavorful, and frugal I give this place a 3.5
