The Doylestown Inn

The Hattery Restaurant in the Doylestown Inn is a wonderful place to go for dinner or just drinks and appetizers. On Fridays between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. «Happy Hour» includes half price appetizers of all the starters on the menu. We ate there last night and also a couple of weeks ago. On both evenings the food was fabulous. The first evening I had oysters on the half shell for a starter and crab cakes for my entrée, my husband ordered the Sea Bass. Last night we went with a friend of ours to celebrate my birthday and we shared multiple plates of the appetizers including oysters on the half shell, steamed mussel and clams, lamb lollipops, octopus confit, and tuna tarter. The food was beautifully presented and tasted good. The server was attentive and gave us great suggestions and my Cosmo was correctly made. The restaurant has an upstairs and downstairs seating area. Upstairs has more light and Downstairs is darker. I actually prefer the downstairs area for the ambience but most people seems to sit upstairs.

I must be clear this review is for the restaurant not the actual Inn. My fiancé and I stopped in at the restaurant while we were in Doylestown for the afternoon. The atmosphere was awesome, service was excellent and the food was great. Our waiter was very attentive and accomodating and very personable. I had a burger and my fiancé had the hot roastbeef sandwich and they were both delicious. We were also very impressed that they had Founders KBS on tap which is very difficult to come by so kudos to the bar manager who was able to secure it. We are getting married next year in Doylestown and the the Doylestown Inn is number 1 on our list to stay at with our wedding party and potentially our rehearsal dinner. The woman at the front desk was very helpful with giving us information on booking and setting up time to speak with Francine when she returns. My apologies I forget your name.

Mixed reviews on this hotel. I love doylestown and wanted to spend a romantic evening with my Fiancé. The room was lovely however the noise from the street woke us up at 6am. My fiancé left for work and I asked if I could have a later check out at noon (normally 11am) and they refused. I had to drag my bags down the street to the bus station to catch the plane in Newark and sit there for 2 hours. I was just really surprised because there were only two rooms taken in hotel that evening my room and one other. Could they have just said yes to 1 hour? It’s not like they had a fully booked hotel. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Lastly I book events all over the U.S. and recommend venues and hotels to clients daily. I had such a negative experience that it pains me I won’t be recommending this inn.

Have to say I had a great lunch at the Doylestown Inn and Hattery. Tried the burger and the shrimp tacos. Both were very good and had a great atmosphere. Looking forward to coming again to try more of the menu and test out some of the great beers on tap.

I love Doylestown, I grew up there. I hadn’t been back in years and thought staying in town at the infamous Doylestown Inn would be cool. Sadly the place is under construction which caused us carrying our bags up 3 floors. We booked the turret room which as a child I had always wondered about. Great location and I couldn’t help reflect on the 40 years that passed since visiting. The door into our room had a 3 inch gap that allowed the cold air (this is winter now) into the room. We had to stuff our pillows in the gaps to avoid the wind burn in bed. The windows were not secured in their casements and pounded in the wind until we stuffed towels in the cracks to stop the banging. The TV just was not functional. It turned on and would hold the station for a minute or two, then loose it. We were not there to watch tv so we walked the town and enjoyed so many of the wonderful new shops and restaurants. I do so love this town and was thrilled to be back. I am fully over my Doylestown Inn curiousness and can move onto another of the many wonderful boutique places to stay in Bucks County my next trip. Oh, the parking situation is whacky. You have to walk 3.5 blocks to get your car if you are lucky enough to get one of the 4 spots they offer. 3.5 bocks in below zero weather is a brisk walk, I tell you. Still love Doylestown. I do agree with Maria C this is a very cool location and the rooms are pretty.

We stayed at the Doylestown Inn when going to a wedding in town.
The rooms are cozy and the building itself has the charm of a small town and historical building.
However, rooms here are pricey, in the $ 200 range, so be prepared. In addition, it may be difficult to get a last minute or walk in reservation, so be sure to plan ahead.
You can book a reservation on-​line or by phone. Also be careful about the timing of your arrival, if you are too late they won’t be able to give you your room key. They use real keys, not those funky key cards.
They don’t offer a breakfast here, but will give you a coupon to the Starbuck’s across the street.
For the location, you can’t find a better place to stay when spending a night on the town in Doylestown.

hmmm, that king size 4-​poster bed in my room sure gives me a few ideas. Up on the top floor it was a little warm, but that added to the cozy feeling. And the warmth enabled me to crack open a window for the cool, fresh night air to come in.
Nice little place. Friendly staff. And the daughter of the woman who works the desk in the morning is a bartender at «The Other Side», a bar associated with Chambers restaurant just down the street.
Yes, it’s that small town kind of place where most peple know each other.
One word of warning, you need to get the before 10:00 pm. if you are late, you can’t get the key.
