Copper Lantern

I’d have to agree with the other negative reviews. Tim is not the friendliest guy and doesn’t really go out of his way to make you feel at home in his shop. He’s kind of cold. On the plus side, he seems very organized. Kind of anal retentive. I was replacing outside landscape light fixtures that he’d installed that kept breaking (purchased by a previous owner of my house). He was incredulous that they would break. but break they did. In fact I have to go replace another one. Since he’s the only person I know that has the part I go there, otherwise I would definitely take my business elsewhere.

Contrary to the other reviewer, we had the opposite experience. Tim [owner] was extremely knowledgeable about lighting, had creative ideas and could not have been more attentive. We went in first to browse their great inventory. The second time we went back with our designer/​builder and were able to select all we needed for our home under construction. The Copper Lantern’s prices are excellent, meeting or under that found from others on the net. We found interesting pieces we have not seen elsewhere.

Ironic. I had a similar experience with the owner and thought perhaps it was just a bad day or two for him; we all have them. But since my experience I have heard more people than not with similar feedback. I just read the review by Jim and thought I owed it to others to confirm what you wrote and warn them about this owner.
He was arrogant and couldn’t have been less helpful or nice; simple questions were responded to in a condescending way; the products they sell are very good but I was able to find much of what I wanted elsewhere and my original reason for going to their shop was to support a small local business; this owner doesn’t know or appreciate that it should be a privilege to serve customers, not an imposition.
When business was so busy that people were lining up to buy your products you might get away with behavior and customer treatment like this but I scratch my head to figure out how he is still getting away with this???
