Studio Inn & Suites Downey Hotel

This will was and will be our only time staying here! first impression of the room was not exactly a great one. The bed sheets were so thin and had several cigarette burns all over, as well as on the dresser. i was disgusted that i found hair on the sheets, the carpet was so worn down and bathroom so small. We were so close to leaving but didnt want to make the 2 hr drive home on xmas, so we decided to stay only to be woken up at 3am by some loud thumping & yelling coming from the room upstairs. needless to stay couldn’t sleep at all after that! upon check out the front desk person didnt even make eye contact… terrible customer service!

Never again!!! The hotel looks decent on the outside but omg the inside is a different story. Let’s start at the front desk, the older man who works there is very difficult to understand. We were checking in and he was asking us something but I honest couldn’t figure out what he was saying, it became that awkward moment when you’ve already said «what?» Like 3 times and then you just have to nod like you understood what they said. We get to the room and it reeks of cigarettes. In this day in age when we have so much information about second hand smoke and even the lingering of that smoke and its effects, I can’t believe hotels allow guest to smoke indoors, so ghetto. The ac wasn’t all that great, luckily it wasn’t that hot. Oh and the power button on the remote didn’t work, WTF!!!
The final straw that made me not want to ever ever ever come back to this place and on top of that leave a negative review on Unilocal was… I found a short and cut hair on the towels, yes a short and curly. I had just gotten there so obviously it was not from us so either the towel was not washed properly or just wasn’t washed. Also the walls looked dirty, it wouldn’t hurt to have them wiped every now and then. If you have to stay in the area I would recommend the days inn, it looks a little rough on the outside but the inside is spotless. Studio inn, eww, never again.
Ps, the inside of the rooms look nothing like the pictures on Unilocal,they don’t look anywhere near as nice as they make it seem in the pics.

They stole my iPhone head set while I was staying here for a week. Yeah I forgot them in the bed and they stated they couldn’t find them. I was expecting them to be put on the side after my training class. They weren’t. They left me with out wash cloths a few other times and my last day he keep say I’ll be there and the jerk never came and made me late to training. I’ll never stay here again I’m sure going to let my work know to never use this place again. I’m glad I didn’t pay but still not happy. The breakfast was nothing compare to other hotels. Stuff they get is cheap so the tease is very awful. Plus they did nothing about my missing head set. This isn’t my first time I stay in a hotel and I’ve never gotten jacked for my head set else where. There was one guys that refused to speak English and it’s like why work if your not going to speak English.

It was very last minute when i stayed. Like 4 am last minute when I got out of the local ER with my boyfriend. I didn’t want him to have to drive all the way home, they surprisingly had rooms still. Everywhere else was booked solid. The rooms are pretty nice. No stale smoke smell like other places that claim to be nonsmoking. The restroom is small but I’m willing to over look it. The man at the front desk said check out was at 11am but said that since we came in so late he would throw in another hour for no charge. I would stay here again. They are fairly inexpensive.

Inexpensive, rooms are clean. Bathroom is small. The mattress is kind of hard and the blankets are thin. There is a Microwave and refrigerator which is a plus. Would probably check in again.

Nice place to stay but if you ever have to deal with the manager or the night guys you will have a terrible experience. He doesn’t speak English at all and is complete Ahole. He even walked into my room on one night telling me I hadn’t paid. How do I get a key to the room without paying???

Rented this place for my employees when I was remodeling a hotel in Downey they hated it I had to move them because of the prostitutes and other things going on around

Studio Inn and Suites in Downey is a great place to get you the bang for your buck! They’re rooms are clean and it isn’t too pricey I would definitely recommend this place!

Parish at the front lobby was EXTREMELY rude. If it wasn’t 11 at night we would have definitely stayed elsewhere. He spoke very little English and it was hard to understand him. When I would ask questions about the hotel he would seem very aggravated. In no way was he hospitable whatsoever. I work in hospitality and would be ashamed and embarrassed if my coworkers ever treated a guest the way he treated us.
The room itself looked okay. There was no air conditioning and was slightly outdated. I honestly felt a little unsafe without having a latching lock on the door.
Overall this was a negative experience.

Me and my bae are actually staying in this room right now and at first we thought this was a decent looking room. It is nice but the bathroom is way to small. In the middle of love making with my bae the room became extremely hot and heated I went to turn on the a/​c and nothing happened. My bae called the front desk to have them come take a look at the air-​conditioning unit. the man said there was no one here. Odd so I called and the guy came and checked it out and came to the conclusion the a/​c does not work. we asked for another room he said None were available and he was a a/​c tech and would fix it tomorrow, but we are checking out tomorrow. How convenient. he said there was pretty much nothing we can do this little conversation would have normally lasted two minutes but since the guys pope know English it took about 30 minutes is to get this point across now we’re stuck here hot and bothered and sweaty thanks studio inn

i love this suites they have microwave, fridge, and they let u check out late instead of 11 u can do it at 1 p. m its very clean suites. theres pool and a small basketball court.

I only stayed here because my main motel Days Inn was totally booked. The red is a nice touch to the rooms, I love the pop of color mixed with the beige tones. I wish the bedspreads were red too.
Speaking of the bedspreads, their so-​called top «blanket/​comfortor» is a joke. It’s basically just another sheet, it’s so thin. The shower was a hassle to work, some weird new-​age thing so be sure to call to the Front Desk if you can’t work it. At least the cable TV had good selections. They charged the wrong card after check-​out, but was able to fix situation only because I was still in the area.
OH but GET THIS; they had the NERVE to ask me if they could skip my room service one of my days because «there were only two maids working». And that is my problem WHY and HOW??? I’m still having a hard time figuring out why they would want to skip my room specifically. I should have asked how many rooms were they planning on skipping. I don’t care if I’m staying 2 nights; IF A GUEST REQUESTS ROOM SERVICE, YOU GIVE IT TO THEM. THAT’S THE POINT OF PAYING TO BE A HOTEL. Wow. Lucky for them they didn’t realize the maid had already went to my room anyhow when I had got back to the hotel. They need to step up their customer service. That is the downside of franchised motels that have any kind of owner; there’s no real accountability or true customer service.

I am shocked that this hotel would have a 3 – 4 star rating from Tripadvisor, Unilocal and other sites! My friends and I were in town for a convention, most of the hotels in the area were booked and we decided to book a room at this hotel based on the reviews. When we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked at the condition. The room was FILTHY! yellow stains, hairs and what looked like food crumbs all over the sheets. Carpet extremely dirty and bathroom had not been cleaned. Lest just say that someone forgot to flush before we got there. I contacted the front desk about 2:15am and explained the condition of the room, the men who was in charge did not understand why I was having a problem with the condition of the room, he said that he could give me «some clean sheets» and that would take care of it all. Unfortunately, all the hotels around the area were booked so we had no choice but to stay there the rest of the night. at 5:00am, there was so much noise, loud people, sound of a vacuum cleaning, and something that sounded like a loud frog, it was a horrible experience all around. Booked was originally booked for 2 nights, I paid for the 1^st night but asked for a refund for the remaining days as I was not gonna stay there the remaining time. Person at the front door finally agreed to give me a refund and said it would post to my bank account asap. This was on Friday, it is sunday now and no refund has been processed. I called location and was told that manager would call me back. Nothing has been done. Please, save yourselves a headache and book elsewhere!

This ls a great stop to sleep in and relax. Rooms were wonderful. Maid was super fast. I will be coming back to enjoy another visit.

Beware! This place is disgusting! The staff are nasty, anti-​American. They made my stay a living hell. I normally wouldnt leave such a nasty review but I feel this is appropriate. I woke up to a cockroach on my leg, they refused to change me rooms. Once i noticed the bugs I looked at my pillows and almost puked after seeing the stained yellow pillows. There are pleanty of good hotels around. I highy highly recommend you avoid the trouble and just go somewhere else. Message to management: You guys are disgusting, have a little respect for your customers!!! We just want and expect a clean quiet room!

I know you get what you pay for, but damn.
Everything went well with check in, they even gave me the wi-​fi code without having to ask. Got to my room — looked clean, came with fridge, microwave, iron, blow dryer. Wasn’t expecting much since I just needed a place to stay for the night. I thought, hey, this isn’t too bad!
Went to sleep, I keep waking up because it’s kinda cold and the blankets are thin. I also have watery eyes and a stuffy nose for some reason, start wondering about the cleanliness of the place. Hear random noises throughout the night, footsteps, etc.
3:00 am the fire alarm starts beeping at one minute intervals. Probably means the batteries are low? Tried to call front desk — phone is either disconnected or. not working? Not too sure, when I pick it up, it has no dial tone. Called the hotel with my cell phone, man answers «hello?» explain to him situation only for him to say «hello, hello?» again. Hang up. Im a young girl by myself so kinda scared to let anyone in at 3 o’clock in the morning anyway.
So now I’m sitting here, wide awake writing this review. Came to the hotel because I have an important exam in Downey at 8:00am (I’m from San Diego) and didn’t want to wake up early for the drive and be stressed out for my test. Guess that’s not gonna happen!
I’m guessing the batteries being low on the fire alarm is a rare occurrence, especially at this time of the night. Probably easily fixable if it wasn’t so late (or early?) in the morning and I had the balls to have someone come in the room and fix it.
Edit* — fire alarm finally stopped beeping after an hour or so. I’m guessing this place is either a hit or miss, +1 for a speedy check out and continental breakfast. I can tell the owner (s) are trying to make the place nice, A for effort. Might be back if I ever need a quick place to stay but never again by myself, and with an extra thick blanket!

Certainly not a top 5 star hotel, but it was worth the price. I was originally gonna book a standard room for our 6 night stay at the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel but found this place online & was able to get a 2 Queen size bed suite for a much cheaper price. Pictures from the website were a tad bit exaggerated in my personal opinion. Room was very spacious, but I sure wish they had thicker blankets since it was cold throughout the day and night.
Other than the pillows, the parking sucked. It’s pretty narrow, and I’m so thankful I rented a Camry instead of the original Sedona I was gonna go with. The guy that runs the front desk at night has an attitude and it was difficult to understand him with his accent. One other thing that really bothered me was the fact that I was woken up the day before I was supposed to check out by one of the housekeeping employees. She asked me if I spoke Spanish, I told her no & she still proceeded to speak to me in Spanish, then told me to call the front desk. So I did. He claimed that I was supposed to check out that day, but I was certain I booked it for the full 6 nights. I double checked with my email, and was confirmed that my thoughts were right. Front desk later called me saying that I was right (duh) & the guy that checked us in only charged me for 5 nights. So I had to wake up sooner than I thought just to pay for one more night.
If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay, and hardly gonna be in the room, this is the place to go. Just remember that you get what you pay for.

I had been looking forward to staying at this motel after seeing fairly good customer reviews. But I am disappointed to say that our stay at the Studio Inn and Suites was not a pleasant one due to the uncleanliness and rude hotel workers. After we checked in, we found black (maybe pet) hairs all over the bed, sheets and pillow cases, a cigarette burn and other stains on the sheets. We had to change rooms once already after they gave us a smoking room when we had requested a non-​smoking room, so we decided to just request new sheets and stay in the 2^nd room instead of switching rooms again, since it was already late at night and we were tired, and figured we’d settle it in the morning without a problem. In the morning, we also noticed that the bathtub was also not cleaned very well, leaving behind dark dirt stains. There was also still an open pack of shampoo remaining from the previous guest that had not been discarded.
When we approached the hotel staff in the morning, and told them about the hair on the sheets and the unclean bathroom, they just simply said that they would give us a new room as if it was no big deal. They did not apologize or offer any compensation. They said that they have the sheets washed by an outside company so it wasn’t their fault that there was hair on the bed. When we requested some compensation or a discount off our stay for the poor experience, they said that we should’ve told them immediately in the middle of the night instead of waiting until the morning, and only offered $ 10 off our stay, and argued with us that it was our fault for not informing them right away. We requested to speak to a hotel manager or supervisor and they refused to let us speak to them on the phone or give us their phone number.
We felt extremely disrespected and cancelled our 2^nd night’s stay and left immediately. They also would not give us any number to call to speak to their supervisor and told us that the manager would call us in the next few days. We still have not heard back from their manager to this day. Please avoid this overpriced and unclean hotel with poor customer service.
