History

Established in 2007.

Mike MacDonald is an internationally published nature photographer, specializing in celebrating the high quality habitats and biodiversity of the Chicago area.

As an amateur, photographing nature for only 18 months, Mike made his first photographic submission to the nationally acclaimed Outdoor Photographer Magazine. He was published. Just weeks later, his work was accepted by Petersen’s Photographic.

Mike’s interest in biodiversity began with the launch of Chicago Wilderness Magazine, where he learned what nature was all about, growing to become the magazine’s most prominently published photographer.

Mike has created a curriculum of digital photography classes and DSLR camera classes for photographers of all levels.

Located in the Chicago, Illinois suburb of Downers Grove, we offer a broad range of classes including our beginning digital camera class called «Get to Know Your Camera,» photo composition courses, Photoshop Elements class, nature photography workshops, and much more.

Mike MacDonald is a passionate creative force. His nature photographs celebrate the rich biodiversity and stunning natural wonders that exist amidist the booming metropolis of Chicago.

This level of passion has made Mike one of Chicago’s most noted photographers, proven by his many covers and full-​page photos in the award-​winning Chicago Wilderness Magazine and the cover of the internationally acclaimed Gardens Illustrated. His nature photographs and how-​to photography articles have been published nationally in Petersen’s Photographic Magazine and Outdoor Photographer Magazine.

With degrees in mathematics and physics, and careers in scientific computer programming and professional comedy, Mike possesses rare and symbiotic credentials that make him stand out as a photographer and teacher. Drawing upon his unique background, Mike is able to make complex material easy to comprehend. Bursting with passion, Mike inspires his students to take their

love of photography to new heights.
