Sort of expensive. I got my wisdom teeth removed by him this summer. He did not give me the syringe to squirt water into the tooth holes the first week, so food getting stuck in there was a huge hassle and delayed my healing. A chunk of tooth was also left in there and he denied it being their so I had to do it myself. Otherwise, I had no infections and no dry sockets! Neither did my friends who went to him as well. It’s worth it. Just ask about the syringe at first!

Love Dr. Blakkolb. Went to him when I got a serious infection underneath an old cap. Needless to say the it couldn’t be saved. Choose to go the implant route since it was my front tooth. Great work. My dentist even commented how good it was. Came very highly recommended and was right on the mark. Staff is very helpful, friendly and kind.

In 2004, I started getting these horrible infections in the back of my mouth in my gums. It turns out my wisdom teeth had grown in and there was a ton of gum tissue floating around the teeth and everything just kept getting infected. Gross, huh? Yep, it was totally icky. So I went to my dentist after the third round of antibiotic treatment of one of these insane infections and he told me it was time to have my wisdom teeth removed. He sent me to Dr. Blakkolb. His office is in a medical office park in Downers Grove so if you ever need any other procedure, you’re in the right place. Dr. Blakkolb’s office is fairly small(enough for maybe six people) but really neat and clean. His staff are very professional and super nice. They knew my name and always greeted me personally when I had to come in for consultations and the procedure. I loved Dr. Blakkolb — he is an expert in the field of maxiofacial surgery. I went in the early summer right after school let out in May so I could get my wisom teeth out quickly and heal before my study abroad trip in France. I went in for my consultation and I was terrified! Dr. Blakkolb knew exactly how to deal with someone like me. He realized I was insanely scared to go under for the procedure, scared to experience the pain afterward, even scared to be in his office! He was super friendly and nice and knew exactly how to talk to someone like me to just let me know that this procedure is normal, super quick(mine took 25 total minutes) and relatively painless after all is said and done. Granted, my teeth were not impacted(if that’s the case, up the procedure time and multiply the pain by 100) so he knew that I would be totally fine three or four days after the procedure. The day of I came in absolutely terrified but I had decided to just get everything done at 8 a.m. so I could go home and sleep all day. His nurses were really, really nice and accommodating of the fact that I was being a pain in the ass because I was so nervous. They brought me back into the nice, cozy, clean procedure room and gave me the drugs. Awesome! I’m so glad I elected to have the general anaesthesia(you can op for local and be awake for the procedure but I do NOT recommend it) because I felt awesome right before I fell asleep. All of my fear melted away and I just fell asleep. When I woke up, two nurses were there to greet me to make sure I wasn’t disoriented and confused about where I was. They were super nice and helped me sit up on the table and waited with me until my mom came around with the car to get me. All in all, I loved my experience here(well, how much can one actually love facial surgery)!! Dr. Blakkolb is very knowledgeable and super nice about everything in his office. He gave me detailed instructions about how to care for my mouth after the surgery and he scheduled two follow-up appointments just to make sure everything was going right. On a side note, my mom’s one tooth area ended up getting infected and when we called he immediately called in a prescription for my mom(suspended antibiotics because she’s a baby and can’t swallow pills) and scheduled a free follow-up appointment to check our her mouth just to make sure she was OK. I like that kind of friendly service. I highly recommend if you ever need your wisdom teeth removed(or have lock jaw or something).
