The facility in Dover is nice, but if you are single and childless be prepared to be treated like a second-class citizen. Your needs and convenience will never be taken seriously if you want to use the pool and you will pay the most. The Y seems to have a dual culture. For families it may be great, but if you aren’t part of one brace yourself for the exploitation. Check national reviews. This seems to be a common issue across the country. It’s not hard to find people who canceled for this reason.

While this is the only YMCA in Dover, it fits the bill. I took Monique’s Turbo Kick class and found most of the mixed bag of participants a bit lackadaisical. Monique did her best to pump them up and I will give the workout a 7⁄10. I also took the Cycling class with Jodie. The class was full and the participants were quite active, as was I. I give this class an 8⁄10. Overall, the Y offers a variety of fitness classes(I am also going to Body Pump) including Fit Over Fifty, Chair Yoga, Zumba, Zumba Lite, and Kids Zumba among the usual clases(Body Flow, Pilates, Yoga, etc.). The locker room is adequate but I found it a bit odd that there was only one(1) restroom in the Women’s locker room. However, there is at least one other women’s restroom available. I sincerely thank the Dover YMCA staff, members, and instructors for your hospitality!
