On Your Toes Gymnastics & Dance Center

Any age, any skill level, On Your Toes will train you with utmost enthusiasm!
I am a former dancer and gymnast who has not done a cartwheel in over 12 years! I saw that OYT offered an adult class on Saturdays from 11 – 12 for only $ 10 and decided to try it out. How thrilling! The coach was a young Cuban gymnast who coached other gymnasts on the Cuban team for the Pan-​American games. He spoke minimal English, but his hand gestures got the point across to those students who did not speak Spanish. Most importantly, he treated me like a true athlete; motivating me, cheering me on, and encouraging me to lose my fear (all while spotting and keeping me safe from injury).
There was zero down time during the session. We did a 15 minute cardio warm-​up and went on to tumble. Handstands came first, then cartwheels, aerials, front-​walk over, back walk-​over, round-​off, and front tucks.
The composition of the class was quite interesting. There were only 5 of us, 3 of which were girls less than 10 years old. It was a little awkward at first, but we all gelled and cheered each other on. Skill levels also varied in the class, but the coach managed to split himself between spotting beginners on different exercises than the more advanced students.
I honestly would not pass over the opportunity to get in shape and learn a cool stunt for $ 10 a class. Unfortunately, the class is only once a week, although the staff is so kind and generous that they may offer another session if there is enough interest.
As for competitive gymnasts, I would also highly recommend you bring your kid’s talent here. I saw several young gymnasts training with other coaches on the balance beam and uneven bars and was simply blown away. I can’t wait for my daughter to turn 3, so she can begin training at this center. Compared to others in the vicinity (Tumblebees and Power Tumble), On Your Toes takes the cake. Take it from someone who knows the sport. These coaches know what they are doing.

If you really want to learn about gymnastics this is the place. They have a great recreational program fir beginners and intermediate. Tumbling too. Great Coach. The competitive part which is there team program well they are great. Excellent coaches. Looking for a well established home school program on top of it all this is the place.

I’ve been coming to OYT since their previous owners (3 years ago). I left and tried out at least two other gymnastic camps, one in the Doral area, and the other one by 177Av and Miller. Eventually, I came back to OYT. I’ve been here with my 7 year old for one year. Though she hasn’t advanced to the next level, I have to recognize it’s not becuase of the gym or coaches. It’s her abilities (or lack thereof). I have seen other girls who started with her or even after her, and have advanced. Such is life. We’re still here, because: 1) the owner (Octavio) is so obsessed and personal towards the girls and so caring that they learn. He is always at the gym, never leaves. I find this gives the gym a family-​type atmosphere. 2) The coaches they have are good, some more excellent than others. 3) It’s a small gym. I life that as it makes me feel I’m not in a factory ready to make Olympians. I could write a whole essay on why I truly like and respect this gym. But for now, all I say is go for a free trial class, ask the other parents. Do your homework.

Exactly 1 year ago, I’ve been coming to this place since I started my Parkour/​Free Running experiences in Miami. Back then it was a great gymnastics warehouse, but now with it’s upgrades and the new Foam Pit, RIGHTEEOOUUUS!!! (Almost landing my double backflip).
Every Saturday for $ 10 from 11am — 2pm Open Gym to anyone! RIIIIIIIGHTEEEOOUUS!!!
The 5 stars I’m giving this place is a full year experience.
