The best eyebrow threading, and the manicure I received was the nicest, cleanest one I had ever received. Great place!

I am so so so glad I ever decided to go to Sam for a hair cut. I moved to Dobbs 3 years ago and desperately needed a haircut, and after seeing good reviews on here and Google, I decided to try it out. I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted, so I told Sam to use her judgement and go with what she thought would work — and I absolutely loved it. I felt totally comfortable in her salon, well taken-care of, and I left feeling so much better about myself. I’ve been going back to her ever since. She is a complete genius with hair(color, styling, you name it), and she’s a really amazing person to boot. Sam also is great with educating her clients by giving tips on hair care, styling and maintenance. Parveen is also amazing with threading — she is quick and very good. Prices are completely reasonable, especially for Westchester. I’m still planning on coming to her after I move up to Croton.

I was looking to get my haircut and highlighted as soon as possible. I called Shear Brilliance and the owner got on the phone with my right away. I explained what I wanted to have done and she was able to get me an appointment for the next day. When I arrived everyone was very nice and friendly, I sat right away and Lisa gave me a little consult about my hair and also gave some suggestions. My color turned out fabulous! Just what I wanted and my cut is perfect! I usually have a hard time b/c of my fine hair but she gave me a cut that really works. I walked out of there feeling like a new women. By the time i left I felt like I had been coming to the salon for years. The staff is amazing, and the owner Sam came over to check and see if I was happy with everything. If you are looking for a salon to try this is it! I will be back without hesitation, this is my new spot!

We just moved to Dobbs and making the trip to the City for a color and cut on the weekend is too much with a kid at this point. After reading some positive reviews about this salon on Unilocal,I decided to give it a try. I called and spoke with Sam who squeezed me in that same day. I showed up a few minutes early and Sam had me in the chair at exactly my appointment time. She listened to what I wanted and didn’t try to upsell any other services. The attitude at the salon was professional, but laid back and comfortable; the stylists obviously like working with each other. They also appear to know their customers, which to me, signals that they get a a lot of repeat business. These were my impressions before my color even finished processing… and I have to say, this is quite possibly the best hair color I’ve had — Sam is obviously a hair artist. I won’t be looking for another salon. To top it off, I had my brows threaded, and they look fabulous as well. I’m already looking forward to my next trip. Thank you!!!

Everyone at Shear Brilliance is top notch! Great attention to detail, and great conversation! You can even have a mani/pedi done while waiting for hair color. I always leave this salon feeling like a movie star!

I had the best color and hair shaping by Sam the owner of Shear Brilliance. My hair was in desperate need of attention. My old hairdresser s shop had closed without warning. So I had my hair done in calif while visiting and it was just not right for me. I found Sam on Unilocal after reading many other reviews for other salons. Her reviews were the best for my hair needs. So I made an appointment and was really happy with my results. Sam also gave me great advice how to work with my thin hair and for future maintenance. Thank u. Thank u Ps the atmosphere there is very warm and friendly. Sharon E DeBacker

First, I am very particular. Fussy, even. And, I LOVE going to Shear Brilliance! Samantha truly makes hair grow! It’s a pleasure to watch her work as she deftly handles running the business, managing clientele flow, and being the amazing stylist /therapist /spiritual advisor she is. When you are in her chair, she is dead focused on you, and you get the full force of her talents. And, don’t even get me started on Parveen’s threading. She changed my face! Tracy’s manicures are perfect and the whole place hums with customer service excellence. This place is a gem. NJ Keane NYNY

***UPDATE***: Received two messages from the owner, first one apologizing for my experience, second one stating that it must be «hard to hate as much as I do.» Once again, quite unprofessional and very immature. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — I showed up 15 min. early for my 4pm appointment and was greeted by Sam, the owner. The place was empty aside from a woman and her daughter, who I later discovered were friends of the owner. I waited 30 min. to get my hair washed and the place was EMPTY, afterwards I waited another 30 min for Sam to actually begin cutting my hair. She made sure to finish chatting with her friend and even stepped outside to smoke a cigarette. She then proceeded to cut and touch my clean hair without washing her hands. I was disgusted. As the salon began to get busier, I soon realized that many of the clients are Sam’s personal friends. I was appalled at how much time was spent gossiping about people in town. I even overheard comments being made about a client who came in to get her eyebrows threaded and had left. After spending 3 hours in the salon, my hair was shorter than I wanted and looked horrible after being passed around from person to person blow-drying it while Sam roamed from client to client. The final straw was waiting around for the credit card machine to work, which it didn’t, and having to walk down the street in the rain, paying a $ 5ATM fee, and pay for this terrible experience.

Amazing! Last year when my daughter relocated to the area we were desperate for a color for her. Sam fit her in on short notice and did an amazing color and cut on her! They are friendly and skilled!!! Best place in Dobbs Ferry!

I needed to find a new salon since I relocated to the area. I went here because of the good reviews. It was a fine experience but I felt that the stylist was rushing through my appointment. It wasn’t busy so I felt that was unnecessary. She said some mildly insulting comments to up-sell me. I didn’t hear anything about the products she was using on my hair which is something that I appreciate. She was a nice woman and we did have a good conversation. Overall, my hair turned out well but I don’t think I’ll be returning.

These gals are the best. Sam has a beautiful salon where you’re treated like one of the family. Parveen is by far the best at eye threading and I’d refer her to any and all who ask. Hair cuts are are great here too as is hair color or waxing. I trust my hair, eye brows etc to nobody else but this dream team!

I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new stylist. I walked and drove to four different salons before I found Shear Brilliance. I am very scared about trying new salons but I watched Sam as she finished with a customer and was greeted immediately and given an appointment immediately where I had been turned away from other salons with no help. It took me no time at all to feel comfortable with Sam and what she would do with my hair. She asked a ton of questions about what I wanted and did not want and she was given a big task. I had bleach in my hair I wanted covered, I wanted to grow out an awful cut and I wanted to put one color over everything. She explained the process, recommended colors and allowed me plenty of time to decide how I wanted to proceed. She was a perfectionist throughout the whole process and it could not have been a better experience. I was offered, coffee and tea and had great conversations with the customers and staff. The end result was perfect! The color and cut I wanted. It lasted longer then usual and everywhere I went I was given compliments. I love the tea tree shampoo and conditioners. My cut was easy and I could mimic the style easily. I also feel that my hair grew in quicker and smoother then ever before. I paid a very reasonable price $ 130 for everything. Cut, Full Head Color, Rinse, condition, blow dry. Another plus is she offers threading! I think the best in the area as well. I have been back three times and just moved back to Long Island and made my next appointment. I will drive to Dobbs(45 minutes) for the cut and color!

A small salon that made a huge impact! The salon happens to be one of the rare few that is open on Mondays, and the owner Samantha is amazingly talented as well as generous. I received a very well-done(and well-priced) Keratin treatment, as was scheduled for a wash and cut a few days later with a complimentary blowout. Shear Brilliance offers the warmth, generosity and value of a small-town shop with the talent and abilities comparable to a large city salon. I will not hesitate to go again!

I just moved to the area and was looking for a new salon to go to. On a lark went to Shear Brilliance(it opened in March). Samantha, the owner, cut my hair. She is really warm and attitude-free…a nice change of pace from the typical dealings I had with hairstylists in the past. Samantha was really attentive to my hair concerns and gave but gave me advice on how to take care of my hair without a hard sales pitch. I’ve been back since to see Parveen, the threader. She did my eyebrows, and it was quick and painless.
