Adams Street Car Wash

This is a really bad car wash. I came here few times in the past and despite the negative experiences came back thinking that the problems were resolved. I was just being naïve or way too optimistic. The reason I came back is that I only go for touchless automated washes as those big rubber brushes are infamous for causing paint damage. Adams St Car wash is one of the two drive-​thrus in Dixon that has toucheless option and my car was getting to the point of getting nasty dirty.
First time I was here I paid for the wash and waited for 5 minutes for the system to start. And I am no dummy not to know that these things work with sensors so I made sure that my vehicle was fully seen. I actually even went back and forth few times but it wouldn’t start. After seeing the car behind me waiting, I moved on and forfeited my $ 7 after about 10 minutes of frustartion. I felt cheated and embarrassed.
My next visit was the same story, but this time eventually the system started after making a 360… meaning driving out and back to the pay machine and going back over the sensor. So after that semi-​frustrating/​semi – positive experience (damn, i was happy that the thing worked at all!) I was willing to give the car wash another chance.
Today the same scenario occurred. Again like the very first visit, but this time I had no cash on me so I paid with the card. Waited 5 minutes, system not starting. Even 360 trick didn’t do it. Drove back to the machine, pressed the refund button and nothing happened. Ran the card again thinking that maybe the reader didn’t take it for some reason. The message on the display was «please wait. car wash in use». What? Ok, so I drive on and the thing starts and washes my car. For $ 8 the dry time is super short but that is beside the point.
Once I was done and out of there I got home and checked my card because of being suspicious of double charge. Damn right, there it was. To make things even worse I don’t remember seeing anyone who works there that you can go to and report problems like these. Refund button is useless as stated. So if you don’t want to get ripped off and frustrated please avoid this place. They also have several hand wash stations and I assume those work better as I saw folks using those. For me, tomorrow will be my very last visit ever to this place but not for a car wash. I will hopefully be able to find someone who actually works there and get my $$$$ back. Having this flawed machine in place is no way to do business. Either close it or fix it. Once and for good.
