Dr. Alan King, Dr. Candace Hoff, and Dr. Katrin Brucker see patients of all ages.

Dr. King has a special interest in diseases of the eye as well as systemic diseases such as Diabetes that can have dramatic effects of the eye and vision.

Dr. Brucker enjoys providing care for patients of all ages. She has particular interest in ocular disease and fitting contact lenses.

Dr. Hoff especially enjoys caring for infants, children and young adults. Dr. Hoff knows that many vision and eye problems occur early in life, therefore she performs vision screenings on infants at no cost.

Dr. King, Dr. Hoff and Dr. Brucker pride themselves on making eye exams very informative for patients. During an exam, you will learn about your eyesight, the health of your eyes and how to protect your vision. If you have questions about your vision, a health concern related to the eyes, or different options for eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery Dr. King and Dr. Hoff would be happy to visit with you and determine the best option for you and your lifestyle.

History

Established in 1979.

Dr. Alan King, a native of Grand Forks, moved to Dickinson in 1979, and has been providing eye care for southwest North Dakota for the last 33 years. He graduated from Illinois college of Optometry in 1976, and immediately returned to North Dakota to practice his profession.

Dr. King is the co-​author of the King-​Devick Test, which for many years has been the standard for detecting eye movement problems in children that are associated with poor reading ability. The test has recently been found to also detect minor brain injuries such as concussions, and is being used by the NFL, many colleges and universities as a sideline test to detect concussions in their athletes.

Dr. Candace (Paul) Hoff was born and raised in Dickinson and has been providing eyecare to her hometown since 2008. She graduated from Dickinson High School in 2001 and attended Jamestown College until she was awarded early acceptance at Pacific University’s College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Dr. Hoff loves making your visit to the office as easy and enjoyable as possible. Her focus is on answering your questions, addressing all of your concerns and making sure your eyewear is customized to you and your needs. She is particularly happy to tell all patients that we do not use the air puff test! There is a better way, let us show you how.

Dr. Candace Hoff has provided eyecare to her hometown since 2008. She attended Jamestown College until she was awarded early acceptance at Pacific University’s College of Optometry. During optometry school, Dr. Hoff provided eyecare at the Landstuhl Regional Army Medical Center in Germany.

When not talking about vision, you can find Dr. Hoff and her husband on the farm feeding cows or tending the garden. Don’t be surprised if you see her in the office wearing cowboy boots on Fridays!
