I have only been on here a couple of times even though I pass by all the time. I have been stopping in here for their Barbeque sandwiches. Their sliced beef is really good and if I’m headed to work and in the area, this is where I stop! While in here waiting on my Sliced Beef to go. I took the time to look around and see what all they had. A.J.‘s is a full fledged meat market. And they have some really great looking meat in the display counter. Next time I’m in the area, I think I’m going to drop in and pick up some steaks to throw on the grill! But they have a lot of other stuff too. Burger meat, fresh ground breakfast sausage, bacon. You name it, if your looking for something to cook, they can probably help you out and they’re prices are very reasonable.

Never, Ever Again!!! My friend and I got so sick from the food here, it almost warranted a trip to the E.R. Buyer beware!!! Too bad I am forced to rate at least one star.

This place is good if You like crappy food. Boudin Balls super greasy due to cold oil. They missed up my order and we spent $ 45 dollars for some crappy BBQ. Besides you only get good service if they know you! Locals only!!!#WILLNEVERGOBACK!!!

If you don’t mind paying $ 22/pound for gristle this is the place for you. We bought two beef filets there three weeks ago — $ 22/pound. More than ¼ of each was gristle. My husband took pictures there the next weekend and showed the manager. We had been there before and my husband wanted to give the place a second chance and bought two more filets. You would have thought the manager would have offered a discount but didn’t. We won’t be back.

This little meat market has been here forever, but the current owner has only been here for about 19yrs. My family and I have been coming here for about the last 10 yrs. Bill will pretty much cook up anything you request, even if its not on the menu. I typically order a double burger, a ribeye dinner(that I pick from the case), fajitas or chopped beef sandwich. The pork chop used to be a lot better, but he is making it a little thinner now, due to his supplier. I wasn’t a big fan of the fried mushrooms, though the batter was too mushy. The onion rings in the below picture were a little well done, but I was hungry and ate them anyway. They are closed Sunday and Monday. This place is very casual, so if you haven’t been you should try it out if you’re in the area. Not to knock em, but obviously meats are what they specialize in. Anything else you order other than meats, order at your own risk and realize they may not be farm fresh or organic. This is a meat market after all… not a restaurant.

I’ve been coming to this establishment for years. It’s been a fixture on this side of town. Not only do they serve amazing Texas style slow smoked BBQ, they run a full service meat counter. My favorite is the sausage wrap. And at 1.99 I assure you it’s quite a deal. Their burgers are simple, but oh so flavorful and hearty. Most BBQ joints pride themselves on their smoking ability, but their brisket is bland and dry. Aj’s doesn’t have that issue. Do come and try.

One of my friends recommended we try AJ’s. We are getting married and looking for a caterer. We’ve never been tro AJ’s so I booked an appointment for a tasting a week in advance. We showed up 15 minutes early. The man I booked the appointment with had just left for the day, without calling me to let me know he would be out for our appointment. Yes, I have a life too and I book things around it. Please have common courtesy to call me and let me know you will not be there… but I digress. I ask the gentlemen at the counter if they can help us with the tasting… they agree. One of the them pulls out a couple pieces of brisket with his BARE hands and tries to hand it to us. Nasty! My fiancé is hungry and that didn’t seem to phase him so he buys a couple plates and does the tasting, since we took time out of our day to make the 45 min. drive from the west end of Galveston. The smoked chicken is good, same with the sausage. The brisket is dry and has no flavor. The green beans taste like nothing but mushy texture in your mouth and the potato salad and coleslaw are the best out of them all. I give this place 1 star for standing us up, serving with bare hands, and crappy food. No we will not be returning.

Have driven by this place for 30-years and finally decided to stop. Ordered sliced brisket and sausage by the pound To Go. The brisket was good, the cashier was polite, BUT the chop chop guy behind the counter was a sneak and mixed-in old, discolored(yellow) sausage with fresher pieces of meat. I guess they were trying to get rid of the old sausage by assuming I wouldn’t notice it by mixing it in with the good, fresh meat. Thirty years went by, guess this is the one and only time for me to do business here. What a shame.

Best. Meat. Market. Ever. Top quality beef, poultry and pork. Specialty cuts. Friendly service. And they make a pretty good chopped beef sandwich, too.

If you like chopped beef sandwiches, you gotta try this. Their burgers are phenomenal as well. Fries– mneehhh. They have all the sides you’d imagine a bbq place having as well as green beans and others. All homemade tasting. You can buy fresh meat(duh, meat market) but lots of specialty type meats. Stuffed chops, homemade sausages, etc. The eating area is very small and kinda cheesy, so it’s best to get it to go. A little pricier than you’d expect, but worth it I guess.
