Specialties
At Happy Hooves we specialize in teaching horse and rider to become one. Helping riders to develop a relationship with the horse that they ride. Classical Dressage and fundamental natural horsemanship is taught. Riders are encouraged to participate as much as they can in all Happy Hooves had to offer; from riding in lessons, to attending shows, becoming a member in the horse club, and working in the shop. Fostering a desire to be a part of the horse community for life, is a goal of Happy Hooves. We strive to see each rider accomplish all that they can while having a fun and educational experience.
History
Established in 2010.
Happy Hooves was created year 2010 over a drink at dinner at a local restaurant. I, Crystal Birchmeier, had worked for many barns as a director and assistant instructor of other people’s programs. I grew up in the horse business, and am fortunate enough to have a family who owns a lovely riding facility. So on the night I decided to start my own program. Thanks to the help of friends I started by using other people’s horses at my family’s stable. From there I started to branch out and buy my own school horses. Now I have a full riding academy in swing that only continues to grow. It has flourished into a equine consignment shop as well. Excited to see where it continues to lead me.

Business Owner
I was born into the horse business. The first photo we have of me on a horse, I had to have been maybe 1 yrs old, up on top of my sisters show horse sitting in front of her. On my 6th birthday I received my first pony. It only went forward from that point. I grew up on a large horse boarding facility that is now the home of Happy Hooves riding academy. The barns are still family owned and operated and the place still operates as a boarding facility as well. I have rode western pleasure and hunt seat. I showed in trail and showmanship. For a long time, Quarter horses were my passion. I have also jumped up to 3 ft, instructed at a national level saddle seat barn, and worked for world level trainers. For the past several years, Classical Dressage has really caught my eye. I previously have worked with Dressage instructors over the years but it had never been my primary focus. Now it is my passion and combining it with all my other training, I am looking forward to the years to come.
