Mortimer Family Farms

My family attended the 2015 Pumpkin Festival this past October. The farm is located just about an hour out of Phoenix, and provided a nice break from the valley’s heat.
When we arrived, we paid the $ 15 admission fee which included access to the petting zoo, a 25-​acre corn maze, hayrides, and a 15-​acre pumpkin patch (one pumpkin up to 8-​pounds per person was included with our admission fee). The farm itself is very charming, and includes a country store, and even a vegetable garden. We spent a little over an hour at the farm and had a blast!
I would recommend the festival at Mortimer Family Farms for anyone looking for a good pumpkin patch in Arizona!

On October 24, 2015 we went to Mortimer Farms for the pumpkin festival what a Great time we had, the staff at their general store were very accommodating and friendly lots of good suff inside. Our grandson had such a good time on all the rides. thanks Mortimer Farms

By far the worst place to visit, hands down. The corner store smelled like rotten vegetables and there was flies every where. The garden out side of the store was mostly dead and rotting. The staff was very rude and did not care about making my kids and other kids cry… On top of all that the prices on everything are double what you spend on organic produce at a grocery store. Me and my family where very excited to have a day out of phx up in the cooler weather. And left very disappointed we didn’t just visit one of the many great farms down here. I wish I could give zero stars…

Just dealt with a redhead kid at the counter that obviously hates his job. He has to be a manager or owners son. We planned on spending time and money at this place. We left. Horrible customer service. Very disappointing.

We’ve been to multiple events at the farm; corn festival, pumpkin festival and other various private events. Every time we leave we can’t wait to return! My kids ask nonstop throughout the month of October if we can go to the pumpkin patch and corn maze (again!). It’s a family run business and u can tell they put their heart and souls into it.

Our family has been attending festivals and events at Mortimer Farm for years! It’s better and better every year. My husband and I have held several employee team building meetings there over the years. The corn maze is so fun!
The kids have a blast and beg to go to every festival. It feels like we step back in time as a family at every event. I LOVE going to the bakery in the farm store year round for breakfast and lunch. The food is amazing! The farm store provides unique and easy options to accentuate every meal at home too.
The Mortimer family puts a lot of love into the farm and it shows. They are the best at creating an environment worth remembering, a real blessing to Dewey Arizona and the Tri City region!

we had heard about the farm and figured why not? The lady in the store was very friendly and was more than happy to answer questions while making pies and telling us about the area and what would be fun for our grandsons to see. The boys didn’t make it out the door b/​f wolfing down their homemade chocolate chip cookies and declaring that «they’re as good as yours grandma!»

I got excited when I saw the signs for this place. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much in here. I hope they grow to include more items and selection of fresh farm products. I will check back next time I’m in town.

We had a great time at the pumkin patch. People were nice, food took a little long.

This is the second year we’ve been to Mortimer’s pumpkin patch. There are plenty of activities: hay ride, petting zoo, corn maze, a REAL pumpkin patch, bounce houses and all sorts of other «ride» type activities. There are several food vendors and plenty of photo ops. The staff could not be nicer! My almost-​two-​year old had a great time!
We came up from Phoenix. This farm is better than any in the Phoenix area. There’s much more to do. The pumpkins are still on the vine and everyone is so nice.
Mortimer is so worth the drive for us.

Not to happy with the $ 13 just to walk in a bit much if you don’t have little kids to enjoy the games. Let’s not forget the .75 cents per pound for a pumpkin our 3 pumpkins cost $ 40 that’s insane. They had a ½lb burger and a side for 8.00 which is fine but the burger was no where near ½lb and I didn’t get the side as stated in the menu. For 5 people to go I spent close to $ 200 just on a pumpkin patch which is insane… this is defiently geared to a family with younger children the only thing we liked was the corn maze oh and the haunted hayride was a joke

So disappointed… paid full price to get in two hours before closing with little children, not told by staff ahead of time that they closed all of the kiddie rides. When we figured out the rides we came for were closed 5 minutes in, they refused to give us a refund. The manager wouldn’t even speak with us even though we requested it. We paid $ 117 for crying toddlers and no rides for 30 minutes of walking around. Not what it was last year. Never going back. We work too hard for our money. One star only because Unilocal won’t let us choose zero stars.

Went for a wedding. The wedding venue was beautiful, but they offer port-​johns for guest bathrooms. I would have really, really liked this place, but it was a little too rustic for people who are elderly or have mobility issues. Lots of bugs — mosquitos, cicadas (one even landed on me!)
If you’re having an event here, I would suggest not including attendees for whom this terrain may be difficult.

We came to Prescott for a family vacation. We arrived late Saturday afternoon so we missed the local farmers market at the community college. We tried searching online to see if any other farmers markets were going on during the time we were in town. One of the results brought back Mortimer Family Farms and the «Country Store» that they have where they sell fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, pies, and fudge. We checked out the farm website and it looked like it would be a lot of fun.
The hours on the website indicated the store was open 8 – 6 daily so that also seemed perfect. We were really looking forward to having some fresh food that we could cook while on our trip. We all piled in the car and headed to the farm. Upon pulling into the parking lot, we noticed there were no other cars present but the sign indicated the store was open. We parked in one of the spots and headed into the store.
The first thing we noticed was a group of younger kids in the store… probably late high school or college age kids. We thought they were customers as they looked up when we walked in and then went back to texting and talking. We walked around the store to discover most of the bins were empty. Those that weren’t had various sad looking vegetables. There was a big bin for corn. We walked over and saw a pile of corn in the bin with flies buzzing around. We decided to pass on the corn.
We continued to walk around the store and there were some jars of pickles and other items that were from other vendors. None of them were produced by the farm. We came to the refrigerator section where there were some overpriced pies and the meat. We were excited about the meat but then saw it was all frozen and obviously from some other location. The prices were also well above what we pay for meat at any of the grocery stores or even stand alone butcher shops down in the valley. There was no way were going to pay those prices for frozen meat of unknown age.
As we walked around, we were able to figure out that the kids in the store were the employees. They were cooking something, texting, and talking among themselves. Not a single one greeted us or asked if we needed any help with anything. We thought maybe we would try a pie in the refrigerator section and then noticed the pie was $ 18.95 for the average size pie. Based on the way everything else looked we were not in the mood to gamble on a nearly $ 20 pie.
The only thing that really even looked decent in the store was the fudge but based on the unfriendly attitude I didn’t even want to try to order any of it. We all just decided to head out of the store without buying anything.
I have no idea what this place is like during events (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas) but I can tell you in the «off» season where they just have the country store being operated I would recommend staying far away. I wish I could give this place a zero star review. If the employees had shown any kind of interest in being there or been friend AT ALL to us, it would have made this place a lot better even with the lack of food and nasty flies.
Save your time and money and go somewhere else. You’ll be better off in ANY grocery store.

This review is for the 2013 Pumpkin Patch. I don’t know that I’ve ever felt that I got less for my money.
After a wonderful dinner at Leff-T’s (I can’t say enough good about that place), KT decided she’d like some cotton candy and to take in the festivities at Mortimer Farms. It was 7 PM the Friday before Halloween.
We were a bit taken aback by the $ 12 per head cost, but figured what the heck. What a horrible mistake. The haunted house was closed (which we found out when the guy in front of us complained), but we’re not haunted house folks. Just some bright lights, sweet treats and a little walking is what we were looking for.
There was little to none to be found. The event didn’t have a single strand of lights going, and half of the 10 or so booths were closed. We walked around in the dark long enough to find some cotton candy ($ 6) and hear the single speaker blaring about the «Fire Show» finale. That actually provided some comic relief, as 4 apparently random people waved their arms while holding torches. The guy in the jeans, t-​shirt and fedora was a special treat. I did get a kick out of the fire circle which lit up in a few segments only.
They truly should be embarrassed for charging two adults $ 24 to walk into an event that was, for all intents and purposes, closed. Maybe with kids you can find something to do. Maybe. Bring lots of cash and little expectation.

What a great local farm in Duey, AZ (near Prescott) to enjoy cooler weather and attend their annual pumpkin patch festival. The event is small– but packs a punch with several fun events geared towards kids. Our 2-​year old loved walking through the corn maze, riding a pony, petting the livestock, and playing in a pool of corn!
There were plenty of food vendors– BBQ, Fry bread, chili wagon, burgers/​dogs, ice cream, etc. — so you won’t leave hungry. I think we paid $ 12 for admission– kids 2 and under are free. This fee basically covers all of the events, except the pony rides are $ 5. There’s laser tag and inflatables for the older kids, plus a haunted house (I think that was extra $ too).
The pumpkin patch is large and the selection was fantastic. They charge $ 0.75/lb for the standard pumpkin and $ 1/​lb for the abnormally shaped ones. We walked away with 2 pumpkins (1 medium and 1 small) for less than $ 5. Overall, the folks working the event were very helpful and friendly– a lot of kids helping.
We didn’t break the bank, and got to enjoy 60 degree weather! I would recommend a visit if you’re looking for a fun day trip during a weekend in October.

I used to come up to Dewey many moons ago to pick pumpkins at Young Farms, which has since closed. When comparing Mortimer Family Farms to Young’s Farm, it’s pretty close. It is a great location and easy to get to from Phoenix. Parking is free — always a bonus! And if you’re patient, you can even hitch a tractor ride to the festivities if you’re in a far-​off parking lot. Also, no charge :) The main event here is definitely the pumpkins and the food. There are several bounce-​house attractions for kids and even some cool bungee things and awesome inflatable balls. Lol. Let me explain — it looks like a giant, clear hamster ball that your kids can get in and it floats on about a foot and half of water. The kids spin around in the balls and have a blast. The only downside is that the lines to these cooler attractions were very long and young children are not known for their patience.
They do accept credit cards for tickets. You buy tickets for the attractions — bounce houses, bungees, hamster balls, etc. Any of the food or beverages you’ll have to pay cash. The corn maze does not accept tickets but you can pay with a credit or debit card for that as well.
The patch of pumkpins was expansive. You can hire some kids with wheel barrows to cut and haul your treasures to your vehicles for a few dollars. They’re all so nice!
Overall — a great time! Will be sure to do it again next year and would love to check it out for Christmas :)

Great people working here! I can’t say enough about everyone we met on our trip to the farm. We came up on a Sat. to pick up a Christmas tree. The have cut and live trees available. We payed $ 60 for an 8 – 9 foot tree. Great price! It was a perfect day to pick a tree because it snowed! Santa was there, fire was blazing, tractor ready for rides and hot cocoa! This will be a day my kids won’t soon forget! Oh, they had s’mores too! Yeah, cool right?

This is the old Johnson Farm that we used to go up and enjoy the pumpkin patch. This time we found them since they were selling Christmas trees and had Santa, smores, hot chocolate, coffee, hay ride, food. I saved $ 30 on a 9ft tree, Lowes and Home Depot wanted $ 88 for this size tree and I got it here for $ 59, plus it snowed while we were there so it made the experience even better. I know I am overselling this place but I missed it when they sold it (was supposed to be a development but we can thank the great recession for something). I will definitely check out the pumpkin patch again next October and re-​review it. Check out their website and you can follow them on Facebook for updates.
