I’ve been here several times and love the fresh sub for a quick lunch. Now I’m bummed because I’ve stopped by several times this week and it locked up like Fort Knox. Did Vince’s close its doors for good?

Quintessential Detroit Italian, cannoli, sub, cookies, eclairs homemade and fresh at amazing prices. We get the Italian sub for $ 3.25 and a cannoli is $ 1.25, great prices for amazing quality, authentic food. Fast service as the subs are made in the am daily we go here once a week for a great lunch!

40 Years of pizza and bread, since I was little rascal. Love the bread the most. The subs are my second choice, ask them to grill the subs in the pizza oven.

Location — rough. Service — gruff. Parking — not tough. All of which I love in my laundry list of favorite hole in the wall food spots. This place serves the tastiest 3 dollar sub I’ve ever had. Key is the downright delicious homemade bread. Walk into this glorified 7 – 11, ask for a sub, he’ll go down into the cooler and grab a plastic baggie wrapped Italian sub and toss it your way. Filled with good quality meats with a nice bit of heat from the capicola. Ate it in the parking lot in about 4 minutes. Good stuff. 3.5 stars if I could.

I used to work at a tax office on 8 Mile and Groesbeck, so we would grab subs and pizza from Vince’s about once a week. The subs are simple — salami, capicola, provolone cheese, lettuce, and dressing on a chewy Italian roll. However simple they may be, they are very tasty and a good deal at under $ 3 last time I was there. The pizza is doughy, sometimes under cooked. Sauce is fresh tasting and the toppings are fine.
Vince’s has other items as well. Soda, beer, candy — and if memory serves me, I believe there donuts and fresh baked bread as well. The guys behind the counter are always nice, although they are not ones to make small talk.
The real draw at Vince’s is the subs. They are made fresh daily and really hit the spot if you have hankering for a good quality Italian sub.
