Trapped in a Room with a Zombie – Detroit

This is a very fun activity to do with friends or family. It required a lot of thinking. I don’t want to give anything away but it is a lot of fun working with a team to figure out the clues.

Had a great time during Trapped in a room with a zombie! Our group of 11 really enjoyed the thrill and excitement of the game although we were eaten! However, a couple suggestions to promote «not being eaten by the zombie»: there were too many clues at once! Numbering lock sequence could have mitigated this issue, having a «treasure map» of sorts could have also helped this– we were disappointed to be overwhelmed with too many clues to start! We thought a helpful solution to this problem could be to number the many locks in the order that they would best be opened! Also, unfortunately one of the devices we needed to use in the room was broken so the doctor had to manually give us a clue during the experience which was quite disappointing! Huge kudos goes to the zombie who on her first day was quite scary but kept us laughing! Overall, a really fun time for a big group of people. Would definitely recommend!

The staff was great. The event was challenging and our group had a lot of fun. I highly recommend the experience.

I’m a horror guy, so I love horror events. Talking with the Detroit «Escape the Room with a Zombie In It» team, they were adamant that this wasn’t going to be a horror event but rather a fun time that just so happened to amp up the anxiety and exhilaration of being stalked by a zombie.
I have to tell you, I knew I was going to have fun but I didn’t realize it was going to be THAT entertaining. My friends and I had an absolute blast! Every one came up to me afterwards to tell me that they had way more fun than they thought.
My only disappointment is that I can’t do it again because now I know the answers!

This was really really fun! The hostess was perfect and the zombie was great. Strategy and listening closely are really important here. We had two kids (11 and 12) and they had the most fun of all so I wouldn’t be afraid of that (unless they are good zombie food — then feed them to the zombie and save yourself).

I was nervous… would this be childish? Corny? Nooo way. Unique experience, great for team building or weekend entertainment for ANY type of person. We had a diverse group, and each one of us found a role based on personality and strengths (figuring out puzzles, distracting the zombie, cheerleading, organizing, etc.)
The clues were tougher than I expected, and more people can’t complete the course than can, so you definitely won’t have any time to be bored. Be prepared to move around a bit. Also, it takes longer than the hour of the activity. Debriefing by the host was actually my favorite part; it was fun finding out solutions to clues solved that you may have left to somebody else, and hearing how individual qualities of each specific team member helped out.
The staff was super enthusiastic, engaged, and funny. If you scare easily, don’t worry too much; the zombie is in a fully lit room, easily seen, and just becomes part of the background after a while. He screams a little bit and has makeup on, but it’s nothing like a haunted house. He’s there pretty much as an obstacle, not really to frighten you.

Went with 5 close friends. We died in the end, but that didn’t diminish how great it was. I give it 4 instead of 5 since one of our group members really hated it due to the zombie. Make sure that none of your group members will have an issue thinking with a zombie present.
That all being said, we got really close, the clues were fun, and I definitely recommend going if you enjoy puzzles or these types of things. The zombie adds an interesting twist on things as you have to make sure to avoid the zombie while figuring out the clues.

It was so much fun! We went up to Detroit for labor day weekend, and I must say this was definitely one of the highlights! The zombie did a great job and the host was awesome. We also had a great group so it was intellectually stimulating and so much fun! NOT SCARY! We were worried going in that the zombie would be scary. It’s entertaining, but not scary. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting detroit. Don’t be fooled by the hearts!

So much fun! We were so close but died in the end. It was so exhilarating! Make sure to go with a diverse group of critical thinkers and risk takers.

Went with a group of people from work and this was a really cool experience! Fun and enthusiastic staff couple with a novel idea made for a great team building exercise. Highly recommended!

We had a really great time. Brought a group of teens and they were smarter than the adults. Although we figured out most all of the clues, we did end up dead at the end. Would recommend checking out when you can find a groupon/​other, $ 30pp with a group ends up being a lot. Very different type of night, but fun. try it.

Went last night with a big group. It was a real fun way to start the night. Staff was great, the idea was very cool, the local was great. Warning — the story doesn’t change so you can only do it once. Also the room is crowded with 12 people so bring your smallest friends.
