This is the second time we got a takeout pizza from here. The first time we had the Supino’s signature pizza which has roasted garlic, kalamata olives, ricotta, and mozzarella and we added pepperoni and mushrooms. We liked the pizza well enough that we decided to try it a few months later. This time we ordered a large pizza that was half San Gennaro and the other half City Wing Thing. Both times the pizza was just ok. Something was lacking. The flavors were good, but the crust was chewy and the sauce was barely there. I was excited to try Supino’s after reading the rave reviews, but it was a let down. When I’m in the area again and looking for takeout, I may give it another try.

Best pizza place in metro Detroit! Sorry Buddy’s :) Your pizza is classic thin crust Italian style. Just like what they sell on the streets of italy where you fold over your pizza and eat it on the street! Be prepared for a wait, but it is so worth it! Inside is small, so I usually carry-out. If you are trying to come on a Saturday during the day, good luck, it’s super packed because of eastern market. If you do come on a Saturday I would recommend just ordering a slice over the whole pie.(Much shorter wait time) I’ve had a variety of their different pizzas and you can’t go wrong with any of them! Even the classic pepperoni is to die for! Go try it now! You will not be disappointed! Side note– they are closed Sunday and Monday :(

Eastern Market had been on my Michigan to-do list since last summer, and one of my reasons for wanting to visit the market was to eat at this establishment. When I got here at around 2 pm on a Saturday, the line was barely out the door. I wasn’t thrilled to wait, but I was going to meet up with friends later and had time to kill. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the line moved! I ordered just a slice of pepperoni. It was pretty greasy, with a puddle of oil clearly visible on top. But it was simple and delicious! The best part is the thin crust. It’s crispy and fresh, and it makes you want more. The space is very small and cramped, and it made me a bit uncomfortable to wait in there. If it’s a nice day, take your food outside and enjoy it at the tables! My regret is that I didn’t try more than one slice. I will definitely be back, and next time I’d like to split a whole pizza with two different toppings!

We stumbled accross Supinos by accident but knew about its reputation. We went in around 7pm for a slice of pizza. $ 3 – 4. We waited 25minutes easily for a single slice of pizza when we were told it would take ‘7 minutes’. When it did finally arrive it did not disappoint. Delicious pizza, thin crust, cheese was a little oily but still good. What let the experience down was the very unimpressed evidently extremely unhappy server who takes the orders at the til. It felt like she literally could not care for anyones custom, displaying not even the slightest sign of gratitude for peoples efforts to engage with her and would often shout out loudly during our 25minute wait for our slice. Pizza delicious though, would recommend.

Okay, the last review was a bit of a personal meltdown as a result of an annoying experience at Eastern Market. Today I had some extra time and tried again. Fifteen minutes after they opened and they had a line out the door. It wasn’t even a Market day like before. So lesson number one learned: you’re going to have to wait, even if you call ahead. Lesson two: consider this place carry out only. I’ve never seen an empty table here and I won’t ever bank on catching one. I decided to get a slice to go. I wanted the special white slice(spinach, feta, Gouda) but they said it’d be a wait and I did not want to wait in the hot restaurant(I don’t think they have A/C) for a slice, so I opted for the quicker pepperoni slice to eat in my temperature controlled car. It’s not classy but it is what it is. The slice itself was certainly above par. The clouds didn’t part and angels didn’t appear or anything but it was maybe the best pizza I’ve had in Detroit. The slice itself is large and comparable to a new york slice. The crust is chewy but soft and had a faint hint of garlic. The cheese and pepperoni were plentiful(but not in obscene amounts) and flavorful in another flavor besides salt. The pizza was greasy, I would suggest a few more napkins than you’d normally take. If I am in downtown Detroit and I am in the mood for pizza, I will seek this place out. But I don’t feel comfortable giving it a five without trying something other than a pepperoni slice.

I love to come here anytime I am visiting Detroit from Grand Rapids. After waiting in a long line … My son and I ordered a large 18″ pizza from Supino Pizza in Detroit! Amazing stuff & worth the wait. The worker kept yelling out several times, «another large pizza» because most people were ordering whole pies. My son grabbed a slice from our tray and as soon as I grabbed mine, the entire tray managed to slide off the base all over the floor in front of the slammed packed restaurant! My immediate and first reaction was to yell, «ANOTHER large pizza»! I am glad my mistake gave everyone their laugh for the day. :) This place rocks even more. Not only did they give us a whole new pizza but they just brought us each a cannoli. :). Now that is customer service!!!

I don’t think my review really counts for anything since there are so many, but the pizza here is really great. Definitely the best of its style in the Detroit area. Only complaint is that I’ve ordered the pizza with prosciutto and eggs and they are pretty stingy with the toppings, there are probably 5 tiny pieces of it on there. The delicious crust also gets kind of soggy if you don’t eat it promptly, but I suppose thats just what happens with thin crust. I’ll always come back though.

Old School pizzeria with New School flavor. Foodies and first timers love the pizza here. It is often busy, and likely you will have to share a table. But it is worth it. I like the Margarita pizza, but really prefer one with red sauce. Their sauce is what makes the pizza taste unique and has a sweetness to it. It is worth the wait. Or, get it to go!

I really wanted to give this place a 5-star but I just couldn’t. It was really good pizza and maybe me showing up only half an hour before close was the problem. I’ve seen this place all over tv on food network and I figured I had to stop by. The flavors were there for sure on ¾ pies. My favorite had to be the smokey for sure. The whole garlic tasted perfectly paired with the goat cheese and onions. I think if this was the only pizza I bought I would have thought this place was a 5-star all the way. The margarita pizza was a huge disappointment. It really did not taste the way I expected it would. Just a super dry pizza that needed more tomatoes for sure. In fact, mine didn’t even have basil on it. The Bismarck pizza was also a disappointment. The yokes were broken and the eggs cooked all the way through. I wish they took the time to really make this pizza they way they intended to. But again, I’m going easy on this place since I came 30 mins before closing. Will I end up here again? Probably not since I don’t think I’ll be in Detroit again, but I will say if anyone goes you NEED to get the smokey.

Supino is such a treat. I will say though, I never dine in, so this is the account of a person who always grabs a pie to go. You walk up to a counter and order, and some seasoned Supino employee yells some some pizza pie jargon to the cooks, and like 20-ish minutes later, VOILA, you’ve got some of the best pizza in the city. I might add that the employees here are personable, they make you feel like family. Here’s what you’ve been waiting for. How’s the pizza? Pizzas I’ve had here have been New York Style(not sure if they serve any other style) and the large pizzas are huge. I love the City Wing Thing, it’s my favorite, you’ve got to try it. It’s the food that finally made me grow up and eat garlic. And now I can’t get enough roasted garlic. They use City Wing’s smoked turkey, smoked Gouda, Mozzarella, cherry peppers, and that lovely roasted garlic on this pizza and I just love it. The smell of it when it came out caused me to car-eat…obnoxiously. Supino is typically pretty packed, I’ve got to be honest. I don’t mind the wait, because I love the pizza so much. Eating in doesn’t seem like something I’d want to do. However, Eastern Market is such a fun, bustling city destination, that I’d be willing to find some kind of outdoor seating to scarf down an entire City Wing Thing pizza. I don’t mind crowds, but I’m not a fan of eating food in a packed place. It’s not that big of an establishment, so this is why

As everybody knows, Supino’s has the best pizza in metro Detroit. What is also important to note, is that the quality of the pizza here has gone downhill considerably since La Rondinella opened. The owner has focused all his attention on the opening of that restaurant, and brought all the cooks from Supino’s over there. What you have left at Supino’s is a group of Little Caesar quality cooks in the Supino’s kitchen. The pizza is now often served undercooked, and is of poor quality. I haven’t seen the same cooks there twice with the high turnover he has now. Hopefully this will change as the new place next door gets off its feet. In the meantime, I would barely give this place a 4 star.

Delicious pizza, the crust is simple, not too dry, cheese was crispy and not too oily, meat was tasty and salty but they don’t indulge on toppings. Still good and unique flavors. Left here still hungry after eating half a 12″ pizza.

Pizza is delicious. Can get crazy busy on Saturdays when eastern market is open. If you order slices of pizza instead of a whole one it cuts down on the wait. Their special pizza is usually pretty awesome and changes all the time.

Tried for the first time, got the«Smoky» Pizza — it was good, not great although my wife loved it. The good may be because I just have a personal preference for red sauce pizzas, not white. A lot of selection of Pizza here — Brooklyn/NY Style slices, which I prefer. We ordered the Cannoli for dessert and were not fans. Better for take out, eating in is kind of crowded with a line out the door which makes the experience less than stellar. Call in ahead, took almost an hour to make my pizza(it was a Friday evening and busy.) I reserve the right to update to 5 stars once I try another Pie, but all in all lived up to expectations.

After numerous friends raving about this place, I finally had the opportunity to stop by for some pizza. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the place is extremely small. I think they only have seating for about 24 people. We were lucky and found two stools. While the line was long and the wait for pizza about 25 minutes, it was worth my time. The food was awesome. I regretted not ordering a large pizza and taking left overs home. I am already seeing when I can schedule another visit for more pizza pie! Yum!!!

ong wooden tables inside and great creative types of pizza pie available here. The taste is fresh and delightful. Cannoli are good to accompany for dessert. We also had the Mancini salad with lemon basil vinaigrette. I recommend the drive or a stop by if you’re in the neighborhood. Right across from Eastern Market.

Love this place, small but just what you need after a busy eastern market huzzle, This place almost always has a line, but they are pretty quick, don’t expect to get a seating in a busy time. some sat outside in the platform. The Pizza is fresh and crispy. the toppings were amazing. if you are thinking weather to get the 12inch or the 18, for sure go for the 18, you will eat twice as much, lol., Friendly ppl with a sweet smile all the time. I will be a regular here.

If you’re a big fan of Italian style thin pizza, this is the place to go. It’s a very small pizzeria that has about six tables. I believe this place could get really busy. I went their around 3:30 on a Saturday and their were about 5 people waiting in line. Pizzas are made to order and comes out piping hot. I ordered half San Gennaro and half City Wing Thing and they were both good. Fresh tangy sauce, generous amount of toppings and crispy crust, nothing more to ask. Their pizza is thin, so 12″ won’t be enough for two.

My review strictly applies to carry out because no one with my level of name recognition — which is to say, non-Kennedy/Churchill levels of celebrity — obtains a seat in Supino’s by mere chance or happy circumstance. Let’s set the bar right here, shall we? Take advantage of Supino’s outstanding take-out service and place an order ahead of time. What better experience for Detroit could you possibly have than alighting off the Interstate off-ramp, parking in the lot adjacent to Eastern Market so handsomely resurfaced in the past year(as of this writing), and floating in to capture your favourite deep, cheesy pie? Go past that queue of straggling, hungry masses, good sir or madam, up to the counter to the promised land. Your pie(s) await you. Then float away, carrying your treasured boxes like the Ark of the Covenant, to your car where a short drive can deposit you to any one of the city’s great skylines. Belle Isle might be a stretch, but doable. Parking lot of Comerica or Ford Field? You’ll have everyone adjacent drooling and cursing themselves for paying Peter to eat decidedly unholy cardboard slathered in grease and melted cheese. Seal your destiny lifting that piping hot slice to your lips and bask in the justly earned delight of your foresight, common sense, and appreciation of pizza cooled slightly from the oven. You deserve it. That said, Supino’s is pizza in Detroit, the same way New Yorkers and Chicagoans have their dyed-in-the-wool brands. It’s the Lou Malnati/Giordano’s to Detroit, except we have one or two branches instead of fifteen branches scattered across the city. In a way that’s a loss for the suburbanites and utterly reasonable considering how many of those aficionados turned their backs on the city except to cherry pick their favourite experiences, forget the rest. Supino’s sits directly across from Eastern Market, the gourmand’s mecca serving up fresh cheeses, produce, meats, and flowers the whole year long. Not surprisingly the two and a half tables inside the joint fill up predictably fast at every hour of the day the door is unlocked, and those moments when you see a gap are fleeting at best. Do not even attempt to come here during Eastern Market’s primetime(Saturday; Tuesdays throughout the day for market) or lunch time because every office worker from Midtown to Downtown knows exactly how good the food is and dares to chance luck, like a deluded lottery player, for the chance they might win their karmic payout and find a seat while their lunch hour is still good. It’s a well known fact around here a Supino’s lunch adheres to its own schedule, confusingly like the French. You don’t have to explain why you missed half the conference call. Was it Supino’s? Say no more, good man. Did you bring me a slice? No? Then you’re working to make that time up. Of course it was worth it; we’re just leveling this out of spite. Now you might wonder whether the pizza itself lives up to the hype or Detroiters are colluding in a mass delusion about a place which earned its name and reputation years ago, but hasn’t kept up with the times. Let your tastebuds speak for themselves. Pies come in two common standards of pizzerias everywhere, red and white, based on your preference for sauce. I favour neither but they do them so very well. I’ve ordered several pizzas from Supino’s and found nothing lacking. Some of the standouts: * Red, White, and Green: Spinach, capers, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, ricotta. You can’t possibly go wrong with this vegetable deluxe, and the ricotta melts to a dreamy, gooey firm consistency begging to be devoured in hearty chomps. * San Gennaro: Onions, roasted red peppers, sausage, mozzarella. For those smoky, chilly or rainy days around the city begs for this kind of belly filling morsel. Throw on black olives for perfection. You can create your own and make endless delicious combinations. Not since my trip to Milan have I eaten a pizza to match Supino’s, and it ranks as the city’s finest, bar none.

The Service: Read great reviews on Unilocal, definitely have to check it out. OMG! All 5 community tables are packed. Huge line waiting to order… all the way out the door. Only ONE cash register? Line moving very very very slow. Check out the kitchen, only one staff working at the oven… While waiting in line, we check out what kind of pizza other customers order… surprisingly no pizza on any of the tables, only drinks? Which means they are all still waiting for their order! Super slow service… Many customers would order their pizza to-go and come back 30 – 45 minutes later to pick up their pizza. The Parking: Street parking(limited) and nearby parking lot for Eastern Market
