Osborn Collegiate Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology

If I had a child who was supposed to go to Osborn High, I would do anything in my power to find another place for them to go. I’d quit my job and home-​school them in I had to, this school is so bad.
Osborn’s crowing achievement is that it was Eminem’s high school (he dropped out or was expelled, depending on who you ask).
I’ve had three social work clients attend this school and it was a bad situation for all of them. Every time I had to do a school visit I dreaded coming here because it was so loud and so violent. It was no surprise that my clients were able to succeed here. The staff are disorganized, teachers don’t show up or spend the entire class period reading magazines and texting, and there is no concern for student safety. I’m amazed when I hear about students graduating from this place who qualify to get into Wayne State — you have have to hand it to any kid who actually learns anything in this chaos.
