This is the catering company you should hire for your next event. I work for a large ad agency and if there’s anything ad agencies are known for — it’s our parties. I planned the company holiday party at the Detroit Historical Museum last December. To keep with the Detroit theme, I wanted a caterer that could create a ‘Taste of Detroit’ experience — my contact at the museum recommended Golden Spice. Tina created an amazing menu with foods representing the popular Detroit neighborhoods and culture… Greektown, Mexicantown, Eastern Market, Motown, Corktown… followed by a Sanders dessert station… and a coney station at the end of the night. The food was amazing, the presentation was above and beyond anything I expected, and the service we received from Tina and her staff was outstanding. They even stayed late and helped us pack up the party! Needless to say, I couldn’t wait for the opportunity to work with Golden Spice again and hired them to cater our company tailgate BBQ party in September. Even though it was a far less extravagant event, the food and service were on point and her staff went the extra mile by helping with the set-​up. They even brought football-​themed plates and a life-​size Joe Montana cardboard prop. Talk about catering to your clients’ needs! Golden Spice will always be my first recommendation for our company parities. With all of the other party planning responsibilities, it’s nice to know the Golden Spice staff will always bring their best and make my job easier.

Tina Tibbi and her Golden Spice staff helped my daughter and me plan and execute the perfect summer garden party wedding. Tina was generous with her time, patiently exploring ideas with me by phone as I made arrangements from northern Michigan for the wedding in Detroit. She met with my daughter, offering the kind of assistance you would expect from a wedding planner, rather than a caterer. She was knowledgable in all areas of planning, and consistently went the «extra mile» to research products and their sources. She listened and «got» the wedding theme, as well as our budget, and created a menu that beautifully matched them both. Our guests raved about the food, and especially about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The «day of» coordination was flawlessly smooth, and allowed me to enjoy the wedding rather than oversee details. I highly recommend Golden Spice to anyone who wants a perfect wedding! I’ve been planning my wedding for about a year. I was given a preferred venders list for my venue. There are about 8 or so cater companies on it and I called every single one.
I called every one to see how they replied to my questions and to see how respectful they were.
When I called golden spice, I was told that Tina was at an event at the moment, but that she would get in contact with me. She contacted me within 24 hours and I was blown away just by talking to her. She was very nice and comforting. We set up a taste testing with them and we were super happy with everything that we tasted.
She kept in contact with me even though I was a little scattered brained for a few months.
I just went today and booked Golden Spice for my wedding at the Ford Piquette Plant.
If you are looking for a company that will make you comfortable in your decision and not make you feel rushed… This is the company you want to book.
I have so much good to say about Tina that I could go on. I’m looking forward to working with them in the future!

I planned a Detroit wedding remotely from my home in the South and did not have time with a busy work schedule to get all the details right. Tina at Golden Spice worked tirelessly with my mom and best friend to make sure all of our food, bar and service were absolutely perfect. We chose to do Detroit-​themed stations instead of a sit-​down meal and my guests loved it. I can’t possibly imagine anything I would have changed. The food, the staff and service were impeccable, and for those of you planning large events, it’s really important that your caterer gets along with your venue staff, and Tina is great with that. Tina was also able to answer all of our questions in a timely manner and was very professional. We are so thankful to have chosen Golden Spice for our wedding!

My wife and I chose Tina to cater our wedding reception at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Simply put, it was the best decision we made in the wedding planning. We planned the whole wedding from Wisconsin, so we had to rely on Tina to plan lots of the details of the wedding. She was incredibly easy to communicate with, and accommodated so many requests that we had. The food was also terrific, with multiple guests commenting as to how good it was. Tina strikes a good balance of offering ideas while being open to new ones. Without rambling too much, suffice it to say that my wife and I were extremely satisfied with everything, from bartending to food, to planning and so on and so forth. I can’t recommend this enough.

Golden Spice recently catered a party my husband and I had, and they were FANTASTIC! We were married in Jamaica and wanted to throw a reception/​party for the friends and family who could not make it down there on our wedding day. Tina was SO great to work with; she had wonderful and creative ideas to incorporate our ‘island’ theme into the food and décor.
The food itself was fantastic as well! Fresh and tasty, and by far the best wedding/​buffet style food I’ve had. Many of our guests commented on how tasty everything was. We had Jamaican jerk chicken specially made, and it was a hit. The mashed potato bar was also a great success, and the passed hor d’oeuvres, especially the bacon wrapped water chestnuts, were divine.
Tina was helpful the entire planning process, staying in regular communication and answering all of our questions. She and her staff were professional and helpful during the event, and took care of all the set up and clean up.
I would highly recommend Golden Spice to anyone looking for an amazing catering experience. Great food, great staff and very reasonable prices.

Tina and her staff are absolutely amazing! I cannot say enough about how wonderful they are. They catered a homeless center benefit dinner I helped with; the set up went so smoothly and the spread was very thought out. They did an «Eastern Market» theme showcasing the flavors and fruits/​vegetables of the market. Everything fit so well in the theme and tasted incredible. I would highly recommend their catering services to anyone for a wedding, party, event, etc.

I booked Tina and her staff for my Detroit themed wedding. She was so amazing! She understood my vision completely, and even worked with all my little quirks. Tina is super helpful and very understanding and flexible. She is a brides best friend!

Golden Spice Catering is outstanding! We had our wedding ceremony/​reception at the Detroit Historical Museum in the Old Streets of Detroit area (130 people). We had Detroit themed food stations and everyone loved the food and presentation. From our first email Tina was on the ball!!! Always quick to respond with a phone call or email. One of the reasons we picked Golden Spice was their great communication right off the bat and willingness to do whatever we wanted. I also have a food allergy and though they weren’t familiar, they were willing to help in any way. We had contacted several caterers and Tina was by far the quickest to respond and so easy going. By the time I had gotten calls back from other companies we were already customizing our menu. The website was easy to navigate and easy to find basic pricing to start. I liked their site the most compared to others. And we had read some positive reviews online.
Everything was perfect and went so smoothly. Everyone loved the food and had commented that the staff was great. Tina was so helpful throughout our process. We planned our wedding in 2 months. It was great getting it all done in a shorter amount of time instead of dragging the stress out a full year. She helped us determine how much alcohol and drinks to buy since we were doing that part ourselves. She even offered to take it down for us. It helped us out tremendously since we had so many other things to worry about. She helped us with our linens and other rentals. Throughout the evening the staff made sure everything was going smoothly and that our guests were happy. At the end of the night they even helped our families pack up the food and helped us load it in our cars. We were exhausted at the end of the night so it was so great to have the extra help.
We just can’t say enough great things. I would recommend Golden Spice for any occasion large or small. Tina was fantastic and her passion and positive energy made our wedding a very fabulous night to remember!!! :)

Tina and her crew catered our wedding at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle in Detroit, and everybody loved it. She was friendly, thorough, thoughtful and we got a lot of positive comments about the presentation, variety and flavor of the food. This was especially impressive, since the entire menu was vegetarian, and this was not a crowd that necessarily has much patience for the wacky bride and groom’s eating habits.
We initially contact Golden Spice because it was on the preferred caterer list; I live in Georgia, and very much wanted a caterer who was familiar with the venue, since I wasn’t there to handle the ins-​and-​outs myself. Her website didn’t do much for me – the photo links were broken, and I didn’t find much of a trace of Golden Spice here or on other review sites — but she was extremely prompt with communication and the first to send me a menu based on our specifications. We talked over the type of reception it would be – relatively casual, 60 – 80 people, beer and wine, and most important to us, entirely vegetarian.
Vegetarian food isn’t a specialty for her, but she was down with trying anything, and confident we could cook up something nice. We decided to develop a menu based on stations, where people could circulate, chat, and get up to grab some food throughout the evening. What she came back with was very Detroit themed, with tons of variety and completely veggie-​friendly.
Still, we shopped around, talking with other caterers on the preferred list, and some who specialize in vegetarian, vegan or raw menus. Some were just as friendly, but none were as easy to get in touch with and the price difference was stark. Tina and I reworked the menu to include a vegetarian soul food station, settled on a beer-​and-​wine arrangement wherein we’d buy the beer and wine and they’d serve it, and she worked out linen rental with another Detroit company. She helped me to develop a rain plan, in case our outdoor ceremony venue was washed out, and was a completely calm, friendly, mom-​like presence throughout the final harried weeks. I would absolutely recommend her for anything from a backyard barbecue to a wedding celebration.
I’ll say, too, that she was extremely friendly with everyone at the reception, but she checked back frequently to make sure my husband and I were eating, that our wine glasses were full and that we were happy. What more could we have asked for?
