I went to dinner with my two adult sons. One ordered the chicken fingers which he said were not satisfying. The portion size was too small. My second son ordered the catfish basket. He said the catfish was bland and did not compare to the well-seasoned catfish at Catfish Connection on Kiest. We tried to lemon pepper wings. They were good. I had the crab. It was nice. But the best crab I have had in Dallas so far is at Joes Crab Shack. The service was exceptional. Very sweet cashier.

Another solid seafood eatery in DeSoto. This isn’t soul food necessarily, which is what I was expecting when I came in. Nevertheless, they have a lot of good offerings including fried shrimp and fried catfish baskets. I ordered some crab cakes, which are are of an appetizer than a full meal. If you’re looking for a change of pace and just want good seafood then this place is good for you.

My first visit here was for a Togo order, and the food was on point. I had the #3 combo(lb shrimp, lb crab), with Southern sauce, and the heat level I chose was extra hot. My food was well packaged, and it was piping hot and ready for when I returned home. The flavor was nice, and flavorful, lol. The heat level was oh my gawd yes. The only downside is they’re were no potatoes, corn, or sausage included in their combos.

The advertised«catfish» is definitely NOT catfish. It is swai. I didn’t appreciate the discrepancy. It wasn’t worth the money paid for 3 filet baskets.

When they first opened everything was good fresh and staff was friendly. But the last three time is has gone down hill fast They have a problem getting your order right and getting it to you in a timely manner. I was so excited at first that there was a good local place but now I would not go back its a disappointment The folks that run it could careless about the customer one we where charged for food they forgot to bring out.

Love this place! Food is good, staff is friendly and no long lines! The seasoning is perfect, not overbearing. The shrimp are huge and very tasty! I’m so glad to have somewhere on this side of town. Thanks Southern Crab!

Look, I have been back since my last visit. And the last two times the service was better but the 3 piece fish and fries I ordered come dark color and tasted old. The first time I visited the fish was light colored and fresh including the french fries.

Overall: very bad and slow service, unorganized. I was excited when I first saw that this place opened up close to where my mom stays. I moved from Louisiana and have been looking for a good seafood place in Texas. On the day we decided to go, there was 3 people serving tables. It took about 20 minutes for us to even order our food. Our drinks came in styrofoam cups(which is not that big of a deal, atleast there clean right?) Not once where we offered any refills throughout our dinner. The servers were not organized, many people just flagged/called them over when they wanted to order or pay for their meal. The food didn’t take too long to come out, I’d say it was ok(not necessarily the best) we orders crab legs and crawfish and catfish basket. The catfish basket took forever to come out, so when we where able to ask a female server about it and she told us 5 more minutes. About 30 minutes has passed, not one server came back to our table, we’ve completed the crawfish and crab legs by now and we just ask for the check. 5 minutes later the female server asks us did we get our fish. We said no and told them to take it off the check.

I’m so used to Louisiana style seafood that no restaurant that boils food will get over 3 stars. But this new restaurant is worthy for people in the area to try. The prices are reasonable and the seafood is not half bad it’s actually good! I apologize for the low ranking but I’m biased. I would rate this the best seafood restaurant south of i30

My wife and I came here because a friend recommended it and it’s conveniently close to our home. She and her husband both consigned that the food was good. Everything was cool until the food came out. The waitress was awesome but the food was really bland, no flavor and semi warm. I’m not sure what seasoning they used but it wasn’t very good nor tasteful. I’ve eaten at The Boiling Crab and Shell Shack, so maybe my expectations were too high… I wanted to like it but I just couldn’t do it. So one shrimp and one piece of sausage later we politely asked the waiter to come over and begin to explain our displeasure with the food. Usually I won’t say anything and just suck it up and eat it or leave it, but I just couldn’t take this loss. The waitress was understanding and offered to replace the order or give us something else all for free, but I respectfully declined. We felt really bad because me nor my wife wanted leave the waitress stuck out with having to deal with it, but it just wasn’t good. I called my friend and her husband to tell them about it and they were shocked. They both stated that their food was good and didn’t have any complaints. Maybe we went on an bad day and maybe we need to give them another shot. Needless to say we were rather disappointed and maybe one day if they’re still open I’ll try them again. Have to take baby steps… A little something here, A little something there… Then back to the boil.

We went for lunch on one of the hottest days we have seen this summer and the first thing that hit us in the face when we walked in was the HEAT! They didn’t have on the a/c or the fans! We were sweating before we could even sit down. The corn on the cob that came with our food was crunchy and dry!!! The sauce, «Southern Bang» was terrible… The snow crabs were over cooked and rubbery. On top of that, the cashiers were not knowledgeable of the menu AND they were eating their to go food and sno-cones right at the cash register! Another thing, they claimed to serve catfish, but it was Swai… we know Swai is an Asian version of catfish, but is also the cheap version and it doesn’t taste like catfish. If you’re going to serve Swai, put that on the menu… not catfish. We ordered snow crabs and instead of crab crackers to crack them with, they gave us scissors… the kind you use for arts and crafts! As far as a bib to keep our clothes clean, they gave us the disposable plastic aprons that the dishwashers wear… it came to our knees, was loose and too big. We will not be going back. Some things are always imitated, but can not be duplicated. Unfortunately, looks like we are still going to have to drive up North and stick to what we know when it comes to this type of food.

My mom and I were in search of catfish on a Saturday afternoon, so we decided to stop by Southern Crab. The first thing that welcomed us was the sound of blasting music roaring with profanity. That was our prelude to the professionalism that we would face. The hostess greeted us with coldness«For here or to go?» At that point we opted for takeout. The servers were rapping behind the counter while we were attempting to place our order. The young lady that was serving us had to ask them to stop so she could hear our order. My mom had the 3 pc fried catfish basket($ 10). I originally wanted the chicken tender basket, but I was told that they were out of chicken(it was only 2:00 in the afternoon), so I had the fried shrimp basket with Cajun fries($ 8). The wait was not bad, but after our food had been sacked the cook came from the back, opened our sacks, and proceeded to punch holes in the top of our containers with a pair of scissors. It threw me completely off! After a short ride to my mom’s home, we were able to sample our food. The catfish had a god flavor, but it had already lost the crunch, and the shrimp was crunchy, but dry. My Cajun fries had good flavor, but they were soggy. I’ll give it a while before trying it again. Maybe it will improve with time and a little tweaking.

I’m so excited that this place opened! This place has everything a good seafood place in the south needs! Good crawfish, crab legs, and shrimp, good spices, great catfish and a great atmosphere! I came here with my family and ordered a little bit of everything! We had lbs of crawfish, snow crab legs, and the shrimp! I would say they star of this place was the sauce! It was thick with a great Louisiana aroma, it’s not just a hot sauce drenched in cayenne pepper, but it has a serious depth that goes deeper than garlic. I would recommend first timers to start off with a lb of shrimp! They’re huge and absolutely delicious! The catfish was also a giant filet, I only ordered one piece, but next time I’m gonna try the basket which includes 3 catfish, fries and hush puppies for only $ 10. Overall the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great! Can’t wait to come back!
