Matthew Robert Color + Design Salon

Matthew Robert salon was amazing on the day of my wedding! They made everyone comfortable and they were so professional. They took care me, my five bridesmaids, and my mother that morning. Everyone’s hair and make-​up looked wonderful through out the day! I recommend this salon to anyone who needs to look gorgeous for a special event. Big thanks to Curtis who took the time to make sure every strand of hair was in place!

I’ve been going to MR for about four years. It is very close to my home so the convenience factor’s great but I would drive an hour if I had to. They are so friendly, you have a fun time every visit. Natalie and anyone who is up front always has a smile on their face and very personable. Jessica is my «designer» for as long as I have hair! She’s perfect. The staff is always doing cutting edge training but in my opinion Jessica is the cream of the crop. She actually travels around the country doing training for others. Plus she went to UofM. Go Blue!!! Prices are completely reasonable. I think even a little lower than they could be. The fact that everyone is beautiful is just a coincidence. They really know what they’re doing!

Staff is talented, trained and well skilled in hair design. Never felt rushed or shortchanged on time spent in booth. Salon well designed, sleek and very clean. I have been visiting this salon for a few years. The downfall is in the pricing. I know it costs money to train and educate staff on latest techniques on styling, however I feel they priced themselves out of the market. When I shelled out $ 220 for a cut and full highlights (this was BEFORE the tip) I realized that I needed to change salons. While I would never discourage someone from visiting this salon, I would feel obligated to warn them of the steep pricing. I have since found another hairdresser who is moderately priced but equal in skill.

It seems Chris Z. stole my thunder! I’ve also stalked. .. err. .. followed Erin from her previous salon. After moving back to Missouri, Erin was the first stylist I went to and have stayed with ever since. She’s really great and I’ve yet to have a bad cut or color from her — highly recommended. At previous salons when I’ve said I wanted to go blonde I’ve usually ended up more golden but Erin completely understood what I was going for and now I’m rocking a multi-​hued blonde bob. We’ve just transitioned me to balayage highlights and I’ve a fan so far. The regrowth isn’t as harsh and my head gets covered with plastic wrap which is a nice change from aluminum foil!
The salon itself is super cute and the receptionist is always very friendly. They have a dedicated area for coloring, the perimeter of which is stacked with a myriad of periodicals for your reading pleasure. They even have a touch up station for your make up — I’ve never used it as I always go home after my evening appointment but my mom (who also goes to Erin) uses it quite a bit after her afternoon/​morning appointments.

My stylist moved to this salon. I’ve followed her from two different establishments, but I easily prefer this business the best. They are upscale, yet low-​key. Prices are about the same as her other stops, and everyone that works or visits there seems to be happy. Not to mention, this location is right by my house.
If you are looking for a high-​quality salon with reasonable prices, and good service, head to Matthew Robert… I recommend asking for Erin.

I LOVE my stylist, Ruth! She is innovative, friendly, and really talented. The people here are professional and pleasant. I am very demanding when it comes to my hair and I have never been disappointed. They are pricey, but well worth every penny. I highly recommend this salon!

If your are unhappy with your color or have any question in your mind about what to do to update your style call Curtis Linscott at Matthew Robert. He is by far the best colorist I have ever had and I’m picky about my hair. I have sent many employees, family and friends to Curtis. They all say the same thing «I absolutely LOVE my hair». Curtis is a two hour drive for myself and other employees but we make the drive because he is so worth it. Trust his instincts with your color and cut. You will not be disappointed.

Samantha (Sam) has been my stylist for the past 3 years. Sam has always made my unruly hair look and feel so fabulous. She’s also very talented when applying Glo Makeup which they sell. I always receive lots if compliments about my hair & makeup!

They are expensive… but as someone who has had more than one bad salon experience (who hasn’t, really?), I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for. The expense, in my opinion, is easy to pay for the knowledge that when I sit in that chair, I do not leave disappointed. Not once.
I’m super particular about my hair. I feel like I’m probably the pain in the butt customers because when I first get a new stylist, I’m very nervous and very specific. I don’t trust stylists too easily.
That is not true at all with Matthew Roberts. My stylist is Venus, and I see her about every 8 weeks; she is, frankly, a wizard. She’s not only extremely good at hair stuff, she’s a super nice, friendly person. Everyone at the Salon is, actually. I tell Venus what I want, I get her opinion and then I relax. And while some changes are somewhat drastic and may take a moment to get used to (i just went from being blonde after five years, back to my natural, much darker, brunette), I am never regretful of my decisions. I also get tons of compliments.
They offer soda, wine and/​or water while you’re having work done, and a make-​up touch-​up after your hair is finished. I definitely recommend giving them a visit if you’re looking for a new place.

Matthew Roberts is a great salon! I started out with Azeza, and when she left, I switched to Ruth, who is awesome. I bring her a picture, and she makes my hair look exactly the way I want it to every time. She has cut it, given me fringe, colored a few different ways, and it always ends up exactly the way that I wanted it to!

I cannot say enough good things about Azeza. My sister & I have been going to her for over 6 years. We have both moved to san francisco & still fly to STL for our hair I had tried several salons for my hair color. Azeza gets it perfect everytime. She also knows how to cut & style perfect. I get complements for days. The salon is in touch with the latest trends & styles. They make an effort to welcome & accommodate you.

I have tried several salons in the Saint Louis area before discovering Azeza at the Matthew Roberts Color and Design Salon in Des Peres. I had been coloring my own hair but let her take over and I’ve been very pleased with how natural it is (she is a whiz at color!). But the best thing about her is how she cuts my hair to take advantage of the natural wave to my hair. I don’t need to do any styling beyond putting a product in and scrunching it as it dries. I’m hooked and have referred several friends who all feel the same way.

When I moved here from Chicago, I thought I might miss my hair stylist most of all, but I have now found a replacement. Matthew Robert salon took such good care of me, from the receptionist to the stylist, they were all great.
I went in for a total new look, darker hair, over 10 inches cut off. I was very nervous, especially when Matt (one of the owners) got the flu and was unable to be my stylist. I ended up with Sam, and she did an amazing job! They spend so much time finding out exactly what you want and what would look best on you, that I don’t see how it could go wrong. I love my new hair cut/​color, and was impressed with everyone who works there.
I would recommend this salon to anyone.
