Funky Finds Vintage and Retro

I moved to Des Moines recently from Chicago and FFVR is one of the hidden gems in this city. Susie and Ray stock some of the best quality mid-​century wares and furniture I have ever seen. At street level it looks a little small, but the basement is full of treasures. I furnished most of my downtown apartment at Funky Finds and could not be happier. The prices cannot be beat for what they carry and they also offer delivery for a very reasonable cost. I check back in almost weekly because they receive new items all the time that quickly go back out the door.

What a fun store.
Everything that you could ever want that might have been a staple in your grandmas /​parents house (70 era) is in this store.
They have a lot of hidden treasures that await you. If i had the room I would have taken multiple things home. I loved the giant lounge sofa that had built in side tables.
I wish i would have discovered this place sooner. If you ever need a fondue pot kit, look no further. I think i found 6 as i walked through. They also have a plethrea of records to choose from.

I love vintage stores! I have always dreamed of filling an entire house with funky 60’s and 70’s modern style furniture! Well if I ever jump at that dream, Funky Finds is a great place to start in Des Moines!
They have lots of furniture in great condition, clothes, old juke boxes, art, and nick/​nacks from years past!
I bought a Mattise framed print here for only 25 bucks.
I love how the store is set up, they have multiple rooms with different themes and it’s set up almost like IKEA would be, they build the room for you, so you get an idea how the furniture could fit into your world!
The owners are super nice and and are always getting new stuff/​old stuff in!
They also buy things, so if you have a treasure you are looking to part with, bring in or email them some photos and they will give you and honest and fair price for your items!

I discovered Funky Finds when I was looking for a new dresser. I was all set to drive to Minneapolis and pick one up from Ikea when I decided to check Craigslist one last time. There I found a gorgeous mid-​century, solid walnut dresser for only slightly more than I was going to pay Ikea (gas money). It works great for me everyday and is much better made than anything I would have found. Each time I use it I’m so glad I didn’t end up making the trip north.
Well worth a trip.

What a joyous place!!! Everything in this shop is so welcoming, so wonderfully arranged, and in such great condition. Suzie and her daughter are incredibly helpful if you have any questions. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the items is impeccable. I found myself wanting to spend my entire afternoon there — everywhere you turn is something fun and interesting.

This store is located in an easy place to get to — you just park and walk into the homey, cozy store, and you feel transported back in time. But what I liked best about purchasing chairs from this store were the owners. They will let you bend their ear forever talking about what you are looking for, and they will do everything to accommodate you. Suzy is the best shopowner I’ve met, with her sunny disposition. I almost hate to tell people about this jewel of a store, but I also believe in spreading the love in the metro.

I’ve always had a weakness for Atomic Age era stuff, a weakness that has begun to extend to things 1970s. This makes coming across places like Funky Finds a beautiful (but checkbook dangerous) thing.
