We were very disappointed with Kate & Graces. Both my fiancé and I bought the Living Social Deal for 6 cupcakes and went in together to each get 6 on our way to a family gathering. This is the first time we have had to throw away cupcakes since they were so dry, crumbling apart. No one wanted the extra. We have brought Cupcakes from their competitors Queen City Cupcakes and Cupcakes 101 and would suggest you go to one of them before you go to Kate & Graces — sorry girls they cake recipe needs some revamping maybe some apple sauce for moisture or oil. Cupcakes 101 is our favorite and worth the extra rive time for us… make sure you try their rolo, or chocolate chocolate :) I really was hoping that we’d like the cupcakes since we live in the area and Derry Main st could have used the increased traffic a good cupcake place could bring. Oh heavenly! I bought a dozen for a celebration. Bought 10 different flavors. The person at the desk was amazingly helpful, and pleasant and personable. I had the sweet and salty which was sooo yummy. The cake part was a little dry, but I had bought them the day before. Frosting was amazing. Others told me the chocolate chocolate was fantastic, and the lemon was to die for. Waiting on opinions of the others, but im pretty convinced they’ll all be yummy. A little expensive at 19.50 for a half dozen, and they are normal sized cupcakes.

I really wanted to love them, I really did. I even sampled three flavors. The frosting had a nice, light texture but the cakes were rather dry. The chocolate had plenty of flavor but the other two were a bit lacking.

This is the latest in a growing number of local businesses trying to capitalize on the cupcake craze. We were disappointed. The cupcakes met with mixed reviews in our group, with the general consensus being that they were nothing special. One taster described the frosting as «gritty.» My biggest complaint is the price and value for money — at $ 3.25 I expect a jumbo-sized cupcake; instead, they were pretty small, the same size you’d get if you made your own at home. As alternatives, I recommend Shabby Chic in Windham, and Queen City Cupcakes in Manchester.
