Depoe Bay Inn

This lodging experience was a nightmare. Upon arrival the man behind the counter played on his phone for a several minutes while my wife and myself just stood there waiting for service. He never even made eye contact. Eventually the hostess came to the counter and said «WHAT DO YOU WANT». Can you imagine, not what can I do for you but «WHAT DO YOU WANT». We had arrived in town 45 minutes before checkin time and wanted to see the place and possibly leave our bags while we walked around town. She rudely sighed and said we could come back in a half hour. To be honest we where in shock at the rudeness but it was just the start of this place being awful. We should have known this place wasn’t for us when we read the bumperstickers in the parking lot. Here is an example «America is fu – ing full so fu – ing go home». It got worse when we checked in. The lady seemed very unhappy to help us or that we where even there. She explains the b and b’s policy and then when into to much detail about here own opinions on some of the topics. We paid $ 175 plus tax for a room not a lecture about her opinions on medicines which she thinks are immoral. At this point we where feeling pretty depressed about our lodging choice but that got worse once we say the room. My wife recently stayed in a motel 6 and said it was much nicer than this room. The sliding glass door track was a graveyard of dead bugs. There where spiderwebs on the backside of the sliding door curtains. The tv was literally the size of a small computer monitor, I mean laptop small. This place says the are DOG FRIENDLY but watch out. They have a plaque in the room that informs you that you will be charged $ 50 DOLLARS each time your dog barks. FYI they have a dog that goes from room to room looking for other dogs. Ask yourself this, do you think your dog might bark if there is a strange dog sniffing them out from the other side of the door. My wife and I just sat there for a few minutes saying what have we done and what do we do now.
We decide that this place was far to cold and rude for us. I went to the counter and asked for a refund which was denied on the grounds that Making us feel totally unwelcome didn’t matter. So I asked for a refund based on the poor state of the room. She said nothing she just stared
at me for at least a minute. I asked her to do the right thing and she just stared at me with a blank face. After several minutes of silence i put the key on the counter and we left with no refund. Thank you Depot bay inn for a horrible foot note to our anniversary. I am a 46 year old clean cut republican, christian, small business owner who thought I would never experience bigotry but i was wrong. Ps the view in all their photos cut out the parking lot and fish gutting stations that is what the view is mostly of.

Realllllly nice, home like feel, Breakfast was great. The room and bed was very comfortable. They love dogs… and Hanna, the house dog, greeted me and my two dogs first thing in the morning and showed us around. We will definitely keep this place on our return list.

I needed a last minute place to stay the night before an early fishing trip out of Depoe Bay. The room was clean and the location was perfect. What really sold me was the owner who took the time to chat with us even though we didn’t show up till about 10 pm. The owner even made us a quick lunch for the next day.

My now fiancé and I stayed here a while ago and loved it. The staff/​owners were so friendly, even though we arrived well after their normal check in window. We had some trouble on our way that made us late but they were super nice about it and made sure they were around to get us settled. Our stay came with a free appetizer but we ha arrive after the kitchen had closed. The cook came all the way up to our room to offer to whip up something for us an then hand delivered it when it was ready. The room was super comfy and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would definitely come back.

My boyfriend an I were immediately greeted by Hannah, the resident greeter (dog). We checked in and were given a tour with Hannah in tow. This is the first time staying somewhere that someone actually took the time to show us where everything was, and showed us our room. We only stayed one night but we’ll be back.
This was a little anniversary trip, so having no children at the hotel really made the atmosphere more calming and romantic.
We brought our pup with us, being in a place that was so pet friendly was wonderful. Theres a little city park behind the hotel with waking trails to take the pooch. This was information given to us by the manager, Hannah’s mom.
There was complimentary sherry and chocolates in the room. DVDs to borrow in the lobby as well as board games. Pastries, hot coco, and coffee left in the dining room all night. For those who needed an evening snack. Breakfast the following morning was outstanding, I had the veggie quiche and hash browns. My boyfriend had pancakes, eggs and sausage. This was all included in the price we had paid for the room.
We stayed in room 106. It’s on the bottom floor last on the left. It had a real fireplace, we didn’t get to use it because it was so warm. It also had a jacuzzi tub and shower combo in the bathroom. A lovely vanity/​writing desk. Flat screen tv with cable. There was a sliding glass door to the patio where there was our own outside seating. Perfect spot to watch the harbor. This is a pet friendly room. Some of the room features are warn, but it’s gives it a well loved cozy feel. Everything was clean and the bed was comfy!
Like I said before, we’ll be back! When having to travel with our pup this will be the only place we stay.

Stayed here with my wife and dog for a fishing tournament. Was pleasantly surprised. On the upside clean, quiet, dog friendly rooms with excellent service, cooked to order breakfast at a reasonable cost. The bed was comfortable too. The room décor was ok but not great. I would definitely stay here again. The lady who runs it is very nice as is her dog.

This is perhaps one of the «best kept secrets» on the central coast. Gorgeous location directly above the famous Depoe Bay harbor. Romantic as it gets with the cozy fireplace and warm décor. We are locals here who love the fab menu from the crab ravioli (come early cause they often run out) to the BBQ and burger choices. The owners and wait staff are fantastic. I can’t rave enough and bring all our friends who fall in love with the place too.

From the minute we walked in, we felt unwanted. We arrived 2 hours before official check-​in time and were abruptly told they don’t allow that. She (co-​owner/​wife), didn’t offer us a coffee/​drink in sitting area which looks over the harbor, nothing! Just stared at us with a stone cold face, as if to say LEAVE, so we did. I’ve never been treated this way, and we travel a lot.
When we did check in with (co-​owner/​Husband), which wasn’t warm and friendly either. He seemed annoyed & in a hurry to get this over with. He said Sundays the restaurant is closed because he needs a day off from cooking. I asked about breakfast, which is included and he said, well yes, breakfast is served from 8:30 — 9:30, so if you want to eat make sure you don’t sleep in. We had a choice of bacon/​cheese omelet or ham/​cheese omelet. It was super dry and came with bread that you had to toast yourself. Oh and it came with a piece of super dry watermelon and super dry piece of orange. As I ate mine, I found a blonde hair in omelet, I have red hair, so couldn’t have been mine? GROSS
My boyfriend needed to do some business about 10 mins away and asked front desk lady (not either owner), if we could check out about 11:30 to 12, as I didn’t want to wait in the car for him. She said, sure, just try and be out no later than 12. At 11:29 someone was trying to unlock the door to my room, so I opened. It was the owner/​wife. She said, oh I thought you were gone, made a big sigh and dropped her cleaning bucket on floor

This is such a cute and quaint little place! They’ve really gone the extra mile to make it feel more than just a standard hotel room. Complimentary sherry and chocolates. The breakfast, albeit minimal (due to number of guests) was great. We had the choice between 2 omlettes that were supplemented with toast and there was a beverage bar as well. The mattress was firm but not uncomfortable and not your typical hotel bedding. It is right next to the docks and the parking lot so there is early morning noise, but that’s to be expected. It did smell like stale cigarette smoke in the halls but the rooms didn’t smell, which was a pleasant surprise. Some of the outlets in the room wouldn’t hold a plug in, ended up blow drying my hair next to the bed. The other nice thing is that the floors are split with common area separating the floors the rooms were on. There was a communal refrigerator, which basically goes on the honor system. There seems to be more than enough space in the rooms where a mini fridge could go. Other than a few small things it’s a great spot.

We were given three nights here as a wedding gift from my mother. It has been absolutely wonderful! Bob and Beni are adorable innkeepers who have truly made our stay a memorable experience. We stayed in Room 301: Admirals Quarters with a plush, heavenly king sized bed, wood burning fireplace, Sherry and dark chocolate, a private balcony overlooking The Worlds Smallest Working Harbor, and soft, matching bathrobes. The entire staff has been so accommodating and kind! The food alone is worth an annual return trip… Seriously… Phenomenal food! Do yourself a favor and check this hidden gem out. Just don’t let Joey out ;-)

Very quaint place. Very clean. Very mellow. Surprisingly good food in dining room. Friendly staff. Easy going do your own thing kinda place. Recommend if you are in the area.

Quiet, clean, reasonably priced. On top of that the breakfasts were great. The location right over the marina was scenic and we will return.

We stayed in Room 106, (no top floors available) I can’t say I was impressed with the room… we stayed here with a Amazon Local deal, so the price we paid for that was perfectly priced for the room/​time of year, however had I paid the ‘actual price’ for the room, I would have been extremely disappointed. (small and basic even though it was an ‘upgraded’ room) BUT room was VERY clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Staff and Owners were all great, very friendly and they made sure you had everything you needed. Breakfast was a nice bonus for sure… and the dinner was amazing! Very tasty, and the cocktails were very well made from the bar.
I would stay here again if I got another coupon deal.

My family and I live in Depoe Bay and we really enjoy the atmosphere at the Harbor Lights Inn. Obviously, don’t go there to stay, we go there to eat! We love the dinners and just think the staff is wonderful.

This place is great! Quiet, comfortable, cozy… all that stuff. Real fireplace in the room, great restaurant, cozy bar, breakfast is great. Home away from home. No view of the beach but a harbor view. Why pay for the view anyway. Been here twice and we’ll be back

Almost 4 stars because the staff is so nice. Came upon here via Groupon and it wasn’t at all a bad stay. Our groupon even included credit toward a meal and breakfast was included in our stay. Depoe Bay is kinda funny. It’s not all that scenic because right outside the Harbor Lights Inn is a parking lot and then the port. The staff is super friendly. The food was nothing overly spectacular, but it was a nice spot to stay in and is close to the beach and a light house.

Loved this place. The people (Bob and Beni) who run it are very friendly and unlike some B&B’s give you a wonderful home cooked breakfast in the morning. They also had some great suggestions for sight seeing along the coast.
Our room was spacious with a fire place and deck. While a little «worn» the rooms have a warm and comfortable feel to them. The Inn itself is right in the center of town, inside the bay so it’s an easy walk but you don’t have to hear the traffic.
I was on my honeymoon and they made us feel right at home. We will definately go back.

Let’s start this out by saying I really liked this place. Harbor Lights Inn is located right on the bay. And the bay itself is basically the center of town. Everything in Depoe Bay is pretty much within walking distance of the bed & breakfast.
It was very warm and welcoming. Bob one of the owners greeted us as we walked in the door. Check in was very quick. Bob then gave us a quick tour of the bed & breakfast. There was a common room with a library of videos and books. There was a deck where people can just go out and sit/​lounge around. Unfortunately we didn’t get to make good use of that because of the weather.
My girlfriend and I had the Admiral Room. It consisted of a king size bed, TV DVD player combo. The bed was very comfortable in my opinion. The room overlooked the marina and the parking lot. Although it overlooks a parking lot it is still a nice view of the bay. We were also treated to a nice bottle of wine as part of our package deal. There is also a bottle of complementary sherry in the room for the guests. The room also had a fireplace which we made use of. I will say that the room isn’t glamorous by any means, but it was very nice.
For breakfast we were offered a couple of choices each day. The first morning I had the italian omelet, instead of the french toast. And for the second day I had the ham and cheese omelet. There was a also a variety of tea, coffee, toast, fruit, and muffins available to eat. It may not be a gourmet meal, but I found it nice to have something like a homemade meal.
Overall I really liked this bed & breakfast. The people running the place are warm and friendly. If your in the area it’s definitely worth the stay.

My man surprised me with two nights at Harbor Lights Inn. Unfortunately, I started coming down with a cold as soon as we arrived so my experience was not what I wanted it to be.
But, Bob and Beni were such gracious hosts and supplied me with Tylenol when I needed it. Also, Bob asked how I was feeling when he saw me. Such sweet people.
The bed was so cozy! Soft but not too soft and the bedding was soft and you could tell some coin had been spent on it.
There was a little jar of sherry for us to share with a square of chocolate which was such a pleasant surprise.
The breakfast was also a nice surprise. Yes, Bob makes it and was pretty good. First morning we had a bacon and egg omelet and second morning was Eggs Benedict. **One warning however, if you’re not a animal lover you might get turned off by this place. During breakfast one of their resident dogs (very big) came waltzing in the dining room and smelled of wet dog. It was not appealing while eating.**
When we were there their lounge was not open but they do have a living room type space that was cozy and inviting.
I will defiantly recommend this spot to friends and family and will be returning myself.

Quiet and homey.
This pet friendly hotel features in room wood burning fireplaces (using duraflame long burning logs) jetted tubs in some rooms. Breakfast in a pleasant dining room and a nice living room style lounge.
Not overlooking the ocean, but a short drive just a couple blocks.
The beds are comfortable, which is a big plus. The Inn feels very homelike and inviting. We stayed in the off season so had the place more or less to ourselves.
The Breakfasts are great, Bob and Beni are the innkeepers with Bob doing breakfast.
Not huge breakfasts or buffet style the quality is quite good and individually prepared.
The biggest downside is not being on the ocean, though the view of the harbor is nice. Pet friendly which for us was a BIG plus and the price is good.
