Vital Yoga is a vibrant and welcoming yoga community, offering challenging, fun and educational yoga classes, events and teacher training.
Together, we inspire you to strengthen, align and transform body, mind and spirit.
History
Established in 1999.
In 1999, in an uncomfortably small 320-square-foot studio in the basement of Micah’s home in Sunnyside Highlands, the community that would one day be Vital Yoga was born. Micah had visions of introducing just a handful of family and friends to this practice; though yoga is 3 – 5,000 years old, she felt it was her sole discovery. Her sister Desi was among the first converts – first to the practice, then to teaching.
We would soon expand into the larger space that we now call Vital Yoga Highlands. We opened Vital Yoga Golden in 2005, expanding our community of avid practitioners and kind-hearted people.
Meet the Business Owner
Desi and Micah S.
Business Owner
Desi — Never a traditional athlete, Desi credits yoga with teaching her to appreciate the connection between her mind and body – then eventually connecting her to a most vibrant and heartfelt community. She has currently logged 600 hours of Anusara® study and is working toward her 700-hour certification. Desi’s classes are a delightful slow-burn challenge, with a deep focus on how proper alignment can help us expand our edges.
Micah — Through her practice of yoga and meditation, Micah has experienced a profound opening of heart and mind – and she is eager to share this gift with others. Micah began teaching yoga in 1998 after completing her 200-hour certification with Bikram Choudry. She believes in facilitating an environment where we hear our own wisdom and remember inherent truths; a place where anxiety caves to humor, and self-reflection leads to a greater sense of community and union.
