Description

Specialties

Opened in 2008 in Denver, Colorado, The Infinite Monkey Theorem (IMT) is an urban winery operated by one «mad scientist» working out of a backalley in the RiNo Arts District of Denver. IMT represents a counterculture in winemaking. No vineyard. No pretense. We buy the best grapes and we make ridiculously good wine.

History

Established in 2008.

In 2007, Ben lost his father to colon cancer. To honor their shared dream of starting a winery, Ben wasted little time in putting together a plan. In the summer of 2008, he rented a dilapidated Quonset Hut in the Santa Fe Arts District of Denver and began Colorado’s first Urban Winery. That summer, he drove 25,000 miles across the U.S. buying used wine equipment, selecting barrels and trekking to the Western Slope of the state to sample the fruit and run grape analyses.

In the summer of 2012, the winery was moved to a larger location at 3200 Larimer St. in the RiNo Arts District.

Ben’s love for winemaking led him to enter into an industry that is sometime fraught with elitism and puffery. He likes to think that he can make people change their perception of wine and how it is meant to be enjoyed. With The Infinite Monkey Theorem, he intends to be completely transparent with his production process and to allow the consumer to decide if they think it is worth drinking.
