The Asylum Haunted House

This is the first haunted house I have been to in Colorado since a while back. I had high expectations since the website boasts endlessly about how it’s been given great ratings from different media sources like the travel channel. Here’s where I think it did great and where I think it fell short. The story they came up with was great! How scary is it to think you’re in a city full of zombies and there’s a huge overpowered one that rules them all and then there’s a disease going around that can get you sick. Then there’s the asylum which is scary to think about getting stuck in there. Also the puzzle at the beginning was cool. The money they spent on their props was good too. They had tons of lifelike corpses and animatronics. The actors weren’t bad per say. One got right up and personal with us. Haha. The idea as a whole was awesome. Here’s what I think could be improved on. There’s a great storyline but it got lost in the haunted house. We were told that there’s a disease but after that it just felt like we were navigating different rooms and then the break in between the «city» and the asylum sucks because it’s another line. Then there’s no connection as you go through the haunted house to the city to the asylum. And I lost where the post mortem escape is altogether. Then after we got on in line for the actual asylum, I realized that we had gone through primitive fear and didn’t see anything relating to said patient alpha. The asylum was cool. There was some great effects with the landscape and the actors weren’t bad. I liked that they engaged more than the ones in the previous installment. This place suddenly spits you out to the begging and I was left a little confused because I felt like the storyline didn’t fit much of what happened in there. Maybe I am looking too much into the story but that’s what I like about haunted houses, it creates suspense. They definitely put their effort in building this place so I give tons of credit there, I can tell money was put into their props etc. I only wish that they had better control over their lines. We went when there was barely a line yet we still ran into people and annoying teenagers. I wouldn’t have minded waiting waiting a little longer to go in after other people were ahead that way it’s more suspenseful and the people ahead of you don’t give it away.

I waited in like about 25 minutes. Not bad. And it was cool both beginning and end. not on the scary side though but definitely fun to walk through. I went friday Oct. 23, 2015. Kind of pricey too.

I loved how the Asylum started our this year! It got a little backed up towards the end but overall I enjoyed it. I especially love the backed out room with the foam posts.

Paid $ 40 per ticket for fast pass line. If I waited in like for 2 hours like some people id really be upset.
Started off cool with a simple puzzle needed to get out of the first room. Combining the escape room element with the haunted house. After that it was about 4 groups all waiting in line and they were rushing people through too fast so there was no element of surprise. It felt like I walked through the whole haunted house and didn’t have any jump scares at all.
Since they give no refunds with no exceptions they can make it a lame experience and not lose money.

Not scary. Well, I take that back. If you want the full scary experience take your phone out and try to take a photo– that girl was the meanest craziest thing of the night!

Was pretty disappointed after hearing it was supposed to be the best! Was way too expensive for a less than 20 minutes through two haunted houses. All the scares were pretty expected and I am easily scared. Disappointed all around.

The wait was so long (90 minutes ish) which would have been fine had the attraction actually been scary.

The puzzle at the beginning was cool but could’ve been more challenging. Actors needed some work, lacked any real scare factor. More startling than anything. But intricate and awesome layout.

We paid the extra for the fast pass which was worth it. The wait for general admission was about an hr and a half. We waited maybe 10 minutes to get in. The actors were fun but the place wasn’t that scary. Be prepared to walk up and down ramps, get slowed down by other groups, and wait in the rooms. It really wasn’t worth $ 40/​ticket to me. I should of went on a weekday and did the general admission.

We had a blast. Went on a Thursday so lines were minimal. Not crowed at all. The puzzle room was very cool and the actors were great. The air-​filled tube things were really cool. It was one of the better houses I have been to. The lady complaining about the smoke is ridiculous. There was a slight smoke smell in the beginning but I only noticed it because I read that review previously. I’ve been to houses where you are bored walking through because nothing happened but this rocked.

This was not the best haunted house. Everyone kept saying it was better then 13^th floor but it’s not. I almost puked on the smoke in the beginning. The only thing awesome was the part before the smoke was the room where you have to find the fuse and the key and the code. That was awesome after that it went down hill. :/

I’d have to say that I went in not knowing what to expect other then the fact that I hoped $ 25 dollars for 2 back-​to-​back «houses» better be worth it. My final verdict is very mixed. The wait in line to the entrance way to the asylum was at least a 20−25min wait for my group of 9. I’m guesstimating that the walk through the entire asylum was 15 minutes minimum. None the less the walk through felt short and left me wondering if the money was worth it; however, there were definitely some rooms well done, and others not so much. Fast paced blinking white strobe lights has potential to give people seizures and was my least favorite part of the maze. Actors, costume and acting were well done and some of the props were impressive too. With so many other haunted houses around town it may be hard to choose the best deal.
Upon exiting we were handed a $ 5 discount from general admission on our next visit. Deals like that are highly appreciated the first time around. Also appreciated was the complimentary group photo taken before entering the haunted asylum.

We took the kids here on a Thursday night and had a blast! The house was well done with lots of scares around every corner! Would totally recommend!

This place was a little hard to find due to all the road construction going on. Just follow the batman lights shooting up in the sky and you will find it.
We went on a Sunday night. It had potential, but I left expecting a little more. I’m not sure if it’s because we went so early in the Halloween season (Oct 5) but the monsters were few and far between. We had to break up our group into 2 different groups because the max they will take at one time is 8 people. I plan on going to a couple more this year. Last year I went to Frightmare and it was much more entertaining.
If you could find a discount coupon then it might be worth it, otherwise don’t set your expectations high or try somewhere else.

It was kinda scary but mostly dark, in fact so dark you couldn’t see the scary things around you.

If you are not a haunt enthusiast and scare easily, check it out.

I was a bit skeptical about going to check out The Asylum Haunted House, as I visited The 13^th Floor the previous weekend and it was a bust (read review.) I purchased my general admission ticket for The Asylum online. The Asylum is located at Boondocks, and when we got there it was interesting to see that the entire haunted house consisted of several connected black tents in the parking lot, and Boondocks was conducting business as usual. We parked in a make-​shift parking lot that was well-​lit and it was a short walk to the haunted house. We found the back of the line, and there was a sign at that point that said the wait would be two hours. We ended up waiting only about an hour.
This experience was truly scary. All of the actors were great and the sets were well done. They timed the groups perfectly so there was a total element of surprise, as we weren’t right behind the group in front of us, seeing what was happening to them. Glad I gave this haunted house a try.

This place is quite a trek from my place in Parker (nearly an hour), and the fact that I was willing to turn around and come home after driving all that way without going inside says a lot. I arrived not realizing this house was actually set up in the Boondocks parking lot, and seeing that was a little odd. It appeared that the entire haunted house was basically in a maze of black plastic, and didn’t seem to be all that big. After sitting in the car for about 5 minutes, looking at the line, and staring at the maze-​o-​black plastic I decided that it probably wasn’t worth the $ 15 and we turned around and headed home.
