Suvipa Thai Food

In terms of food quality, this is one of the best Thai restaurants in town. For Tom Yum, they have the best, hands down. I have been to many Thai restaurants both in Denver and in other states, and I have never tasted a more delicious Tom Yum. When the restaurant opened, they under-​charged the Tom Yum, but after they brought the price to reasonability, that did not deter me from coming back for the Tom Yum one bit.
I have also tried other dishes, and have brought friends here to enjoy Thai food with me. Not once did we ever get disappointed. The food has a definite home-​made taste to it, and regardless of the service quality, this has become my go-​to for quality Thai food. The waiters and owner are also very friendly, which in my opinion add to the authentic Thai feel to the restaurant.

I love this Thai food place. I am half Thai and this Taste like the food in Thai. One of the best Thai places in Colorado. It’s homemade family owned and so flavorful.

I wasn’t terribly impressed by the food here unfortunately. The reviews looked fantastic and all. I’ll have to come back and try a few other things to really get a feel for the menu.
— The Pad Thai was a bit heavy on the tamarind sauce so the sweetness was a touch cloying and overpowered the rest of the dish. Otherwise, from what I could tell it tasted pretty well seasoned. There was an odd orange color though, perhaps from the tamarind sauce.
— The spicy garlic chicken, which was very well seasoned. I think there was a little too much fish sauce in this one though. The chicken was cooked very well, not overdone and dry. It was moist and juicy and took the seasonings well.
— The Panang curry was probably the best thing I had here so far. It was well seasoned, creamy, and had a good level of spice. The amount of tofu in the curry and peppers and so on was pretty good too. Solid effort
The portions here run on the smaller side compared to other Thai restaurants I like to frequent. The service is pretty good. YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH THE WAITER. If it’s the same person I had, he’s a very nice man but his English is not the best. Annunciation and clear speech is key here. We had a nice chat about Vietnam (because we’re Vietnamese) and Thailand, he even knew a few lines and threw ‘em at us. It was a good time.

Pad see ewe and Pad Thai were absolute perfection. We also had yellow curry which was delicious. 4 stars for food!
The extra star is for the customer service. The staff were very sweet and got our order right. We were addicted to Thai street food, but given having to jump through hoops (takeout only/​surcharge/​long wait) and it being in BFE it’s no longer worth it.

Best Thai I’ve food in Denver

This place never disappoints, I have been any times for lunch and have not had a bad meal or even an average meal here. The food is always very fresh tasting and so full of flavor that I leave wondering how they make it have such deep complex flavors. I will admit that the spicy level is not always consistent but if they will bring a tray of different chili sauces to the table if you ask. If you get the hottest be prepared for the burn.

Some of the most authentic Thai food I’ve been able to find in Denver. The green curry is consistently amazing. The som tom (papaya salad) brings me right back to the streets of Bangkok. The prices are right, I love coming here with a big group of people and ordered several dishes and sharing them family style. Every single dish I’ve tasted has had amazing flavor.
The people who work here are very kind and a joy to share conversation with. Thanks for bringing amazing Thai food to Denver!

Sorry most brethren Unilocalers, whom didn’t like this place very much! As a part Thai, living in Denver (where it’s scarce for quality and value for Thai food), I found this place pretty delicious. I was happy not to have to pay $ 10+ like a counterpart across town.
From what I read, the bigger complaints about this place is it’s «not spicy enough.» One has to give the cook credit, when a non-​Thai says they want their dishes «hot,» it is disquieting to make it «hot!» They saw that I am Thai so their mild was too hot for my non-​Thai friends, but just medium for me. Overall, you can request for the side Thai condiments, which contain the chili in fish sauce, spicy fine chili powder, serranos in vinegar, and chili paste. There is no going back when it’s too spicy, then the customers complain about how spicy it is…
We ordered the Papaya Salad, Pad Thai, Coconut Soup, Herb Roasted Chicken, Coconut ice cream with sticky rice, and sticky rice with custard (Thai flan). We asked for our dishes medium and my poor friends downed about a gallon of water. We thought the chicken would come with a quarter chicken, but it felt like they gave us the whole chicken! We ate most of it with non-​sweet sticky rice, using our fingers (Thai style). The Pad Thai was done the right way, where it was not saucy and not overly sweet. The Coconut Soup/​Tom Kha, was a hot and sour type soup. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Then again, I’m going to go back and see if it was just as good the first time!

Wow. This is the real Thai food Denver has been missing. My husband happened upon the owner last week who told him he s s his wife were the original owners of J’s Noodles. They sold the restaurant a while back to pay for some medical bills. J’s was nene the same. But now we have amazing Thai food again at Supiva Thai. It’s the same recipes and as I found out last night the same authentic food.
My favorite is Pad See Ew. Other restaurants just don’t do it right. I was thrilled to receive noodles caramelized perfectly last night. The Tom Ka Gai was full of complex flavors.
I can’t wait to go back!

The food here was pretty good. We got the skewers for appetizer, they were a little over cooked but the sauce was good. We also got the coconut soup, which was pretty delicious but basic. There was not as much content as I would like. I got a thai iced coffee, it had a little too much condense milk and was very sweet.
For main course we for the spicy pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. The spicy pad Thai was delicious, definitely on point and the pineapple fried rice was pretty good but not my favorite.
I was sad that they were out of curry puffs, and taro curry puffs and will definitely come back to try them.
Four stars for food, but three because the service was terrible. Waited 40 minutes just to have the waitress take our order. Did not get our meal until an hour and half later, and ended up spending over 2 ½ hours in this restaurant. Another table had to go serve themselves water because she was taking so long.
I would definitely recommend this place for the food and I will definitely go back in the future but will learn from this experience and get take out instead.

Meh, is exactly right. Went late on Saturday night to do a food run after a day of hanging out in the park. I got several orders for several people and the all-​around consensus was «meh.»
The food had flavor but I’m not sure it was the best. I had drunken noodles (medium spice level) and found it to be extremely spicy. It had very few noodles actually, and thought everything could be a bit more fresh. On top of that, I don’t think the veggies in it were typical of drunken noodles I’ve gotten in the past… it mainly had green beans in it. HUH?
It was cheap, on the plus side. Still on the hunt for my perfect drunken noodles…

Stumbled upon this hidden gem via Unilocal!Thanks guys! Absolutely fantastic food, and the restaurant is very clean to boot. One of the few places that I’ve been where hot actually means hot. I am absolutely no slouch, but, the hot was pushing me a little bit, recommend you order down if there are any questions. Went with a party of eight and everyone was very pleased. Will absolutely be back again.

Just when you thought South Federal couldn’t get any more exciting, here comes sassy, savory Suvipa Thai to excite you with a combination of culinary classics and lesser-​known items that’ll add some glee to your gullet.
Suvipa’s curry puffs have been attracting attention since the eatery first opened its doors, and quite rightly so too. These made-​to-​order pastries (stuffed either with soft potatoes and Karee [Thai yellow curry] or sturdy taro root cubes in coconut milk) are always decadently delectable — and as you’ve probably heard, they tend to sell out fast, so get there early for best results! If you do arrive a bit too late, however, never fear — the fish tofu is also a treat. Yes, you heard me correctly — this dish does indeed consist of fried chunks of ground fish with the consistency of beancurd — and they’re delicious, so stop making that face. Then again, if you’re seeking something you can really sink your teeth into, the Satay (skewered chicken with creamy peanut sauce, a recipe originating on the Indonesian island of Java) is always a popular fave too.
«Well Mark», I hear you inquire, «those do all sound great, but what about their main dishes?». I’m so glad you asked. One of my absolute favorites is the Khao Kluk Kapi — rice stir-​fried with pungent (in the best possible way of course) shrimp paste and finely diced Thai chili peppers, with some plump shrimp added to the mix as well. If you want to explore the quintessentially Thai affinity for fresh herbs, two standout items are the zesty stirfry of eggplant and Kaprao [holy basil leaves] and the slightly more mellow sauté of beef and Makrud [lime leaves]. Of course, you can never go wrong with some Khao Pad Sapparod [fried rice with juicy pineapple chunks and your choice of protein] can you? Then there are all the old-​favorites too — curries, noodle dishes, grilled chicken, oh wow! So pay Suvipa a visit, and see what I mean.

This place was 19 miles away from my hotel and the drive was worth it. I had the Tom Yum Noodle soup with chicken and it was delicious. It had a lot of onions in it, but the pieces were big enough to be easily taken out. — if youre not an onion person, ask for no onions. I also got the chicken Satay and that too was yummy.
Its in a strip mall, and had i just drove by it on the street, i wouldnt go inside of it, so im glad that my fellow Unilocalers didnt let me down!

The first time I went here it was much better. The first time, the ingredients tasted very fresh and it seemed like they didn’t use additives.
The second time, however, the food tasted like that of any other thai place: over seasoned, over salty, over sweet, over everything.
Not to mention, I think they were having problems with the sewer… it smelled very bad.

Sorry Unilocalers you steered me wrong. No way is this a ⁴¹⁄₂ star dining experience — at least it wasn’t at lunch today. Had really wanted to try David’s Kabob House for my weekly lunch with my friend but they’re closed this week. What to do? Well, I’ve read good things about this little hole in the wall on South Federal so off we went.
Arrived at about 1:30 pm to the sounds of screeching children. Not a good start plus there is zero atmosphere — I mean none — been in more welcoming hospital cafeterias. Hostess/​waitress was nice but terribly shy.
Out of the curry puffs (not sure why they are on the menu since they never have them) so moved on to some pretty boring egg rolls and a green papaya salad. Neither of much interest, although the salad ordered medium spicy really had our lips tingling.
I’m sure I mis-​ordered but we went on to share the seafood Drunken Noodles and it was maybe the single worst Thai dish I’ve ever had. The sauce was bland and greasy (even ordered medium), noodles were way overcooked and broken into tiny pieces, and the seafood (very scant though it was) was well beyond it’s expiration date. My fingers are crossed for no later repercussions. We didn’t finish any of this and left hungry.
I think Taste of Thailand is so far superior but then you have to deal with the parking down there. I should have toughed it out though because even given that this check was only $ 23 plus tip, it wasn’t worth it.

Don’t be concerned about the sketchy parking lot and strip mall that Suvipa’s is tucked into… Well, maybe a little concerned about whether your car will survive the potholes, but fear not because your worries will be whisked away by the taste of delicious, fresh Thai cuisine!
In the Vietnamese-​dominated «phở-​central» stretch of Federal, Suvipa’s is a fresh awakening of the Thai senses! So far I have tried the Hot Basil chicken, the Tom Kha, and the «special» that happened to be some sort of spicy shrimp noodle dish. Everything was excellent. Piping hot food, friendly service, and at an incredible price.
It’s a small shop (perhaps 10 – 12 small tables?) with an oddly placed TV near the kitchen. But you didn’t really come here to watch sports, right? So grab a menu, believe it when they say «Yes, that is quite spicy» and belly up to some of the best Thai on Federal!

We came in here for Dinner. Time was about 18:50hrs ish. That evening was on Wednesday December 24^th 2014. Err, for one, its A BIG MISTAKE to seat near the entrance. Secondly, TAKE NOTE TO SELF, if want those CURRY PUFFS, DO COME EARLY coz it RAN OUT — aka — SOLD OUT by the time we were there.
Menu looks simple. But nothing seems calling our name…
Hubs opt to have the SPICY BEEF with Kafir Lime Leaves ($ 8.00), while I have to «settle» for Shrimp Chili Paste Fried Rice ($ 8.50). We also opt to order CHICKEN SATAY ($ 6.50), and the CHICKEN EGG ROLL ($ 5.00).
Hubs order came out first at 19:05hrs. Its NOT SPICY AT ALL. But its definitely LOADED with KAFIR LIME LEAVES to the MAX!
Then when my order came out, IT WAS THE WRONG Order. I could have and should have taken the picture of the wrong order. By this time, Hubs already finished his MAIN ENTREE. *SIGH*
The server bring back that plate to the Cook, and then a few minutes later, the server brings out my order of Shrimp Chili Paste Fried Rice at 19:25hrs ish. First bite of Shrimp Chili Paste Fried Rice, was OK. YES, there are several Shrimps with its tail intact. Yes there are thinly slice young lemon grass in my Main Entrée of Shrimp Chili Paste Fried Rice.
But to make it spicier, I ask the server to bring me the «condiment» tray. From there, I put the pickled Serrano/​Jalapeño chillies, and some red hot pepper flakes… then my order of Shrimp Paste Fried Rice «sealed» the deal. the SPICY I want and I like.
YES its ONLY 1 cook and 1 server who runs the whole tiny restaurant. YES, they can be swamped with other patrons alike. But with regards to the food, THEY CAN DO BETTER in terms of Flavor and even presentation.
NOTE TO SELF: Next time see the SPECIALS OF THE DAY. In which for that evening they offer Mussels.
All in all 3 stars at best. Maybe we ordered the wrong items from the Menu. To return its a MAYBE, and DEFINITELY I want to try that «elusive» CURRY PUFFS. Perhaps from there my review might differ. Above anything else, we wish them well in their Business undertakings especially in this part of Neighborhood since it lacks of Thai establishments.

I can’t wait to try out more food here. We need more Thai restaurants! Considering they’ve only been open for 3 months, they are doing really well. Our favorite dishes were the panang curry, pad thai, and fish with 3 flavor sauce (the fish is slightly tough/​hard, however flavor is really good). We went in here with 9 people, 8 adults and 1 child and ordered 7 entrees, 3 appetizers and one child entrée and the bill was $ 86! And we brought food home! If we could, we would’ve eaten it all, but there simple was too much food. There is also a stamp card, make sure to ask about it because they forgot to tell us. Get a stamp for every $ 25 or more spent there, 5 stamps will get you a free entrée.
This place is a hole in the wall on Federal, really small, lacking in decoration and ambiance. … but I come for the food!

I have been in this establishment many times when the restaurant was under different names and ownerships. The Vietnamese food was good, then the vegetarian Vietnamese food was good, too. I wasn’t sure if the Thai place was good but I am glad I checked out Unilocal before I went. I ordered shrimp paste fried rice based on other Unilocaler’s recommendation. I am glad I did. Get it please! It’s so flavorful and fragrant. I am a huge fried rice fan and this is definitely a dish that I will come back for again and again.
My bf played safe and ordered green curry with chicken, which was pretty decent as well. We also shared a papaya salad. It was very tasty and all those exotic flavors just blend so well together (it was spicy though). We both chose «just a little spicy» and we were pretty happy with the results.
To sum it up, food was cheap and delicious. Portion is big, very satisfying. Ingredients are fresh. You cannot beat their price. Service was fast. Plus, it’s refreshing to have other options on the menu other than pad thai and sticky rice. I know I just had the fried rice yesterday but I am already craving for it. ;)
