This combination restaurant /supermarket is unassuming, but the menu looked pretty good. I only had a chance to try a few things, but if I’m in the neighborhood, worth a second look. The Taco Al Pastor was tasty, though somewhat plain. I added some of their mild tomatillo salsa(Salsa Verde). The Gordita Mole con Pollo was new to me. I’m guessing they make their tortillas and breads themselves, they are certainly not the run of the mill, out of the bag things you get in many places. I liked the spice of the mole, and wished they put a bit more inside — you can tell alot about a kitchen from its mole. Although I love Mexican food, I hadn’t really tried Horchata before — theirs is very sweet with some cinnamon. The Salsa Roja and Salsa Verde were served with a few chips as a side — pretty tame, though non-offensive. Incidentally, several folks stopped by for takeout orders while I was there. They were not particularly speedy in serving, but friendly nonetheless. The market next door is mostly imported things from Mexico(found some Kranky candy I bought and liked in Mexico City) and also has a meat counter and bakery. All in all, needs a bit more research…
