Second Spin

2 hour wait to get trade in records priced. Every trade in place I’ve ever gone to prices it out right there no matter how much I brought to trade in. And they didn’t even have a public restroom. They didn’t even call us when they were ready we had to go back in and ask, and they didn’t even take any of the records. It was like they wanted us to forget so they could steal our records. The employees were snotty. And everything was grossly over priced. It now has the same vibe as everything else in the area, rude and way over priced.

Honestly, I am only giving this a 3 star review because I think this shop is more for the used CD and DVD lovers, which isn’t me. It is a huge shop with tons of merchandise, but if you are looking for vinyl go elsewhere. Their record selection is crap. It is unorganized, overpriced and with inventory that is more what I would find at Goodwill. Do you need 5 copies of Katrina and the Waves? How about Neil Diamond, does he float your boat? Yeah, it ain’t for the vinyl shopper. Plus, how hard is it to alphabetize your selection, that is just sloppy!
There is parking in front and around the side. They have a weird entrance/​exit where you go in the front, but you have to go out the side by the registers (you can’t exit the front). Staff does leave you alone, I don’t even think they acknowledged us the 30 minutes were in there, so if you like that, hey that is a plus. If you want attention, go elsewhere.
3 stars is generous, but I feel like it is just a place for stuff I don’t care about. If you want vinyl, go to a real shop (Black & Read, Twist & Shout, etc…).

In my new vinyl obsession I’ve been hitting all the places around the Metro Area. Let me tell you now — you can skip them if you want vinyl. Unorganized, not alphabetized, haphazard. I could go on and on. I could literally find nothing I wanted.
Tons of DVD’s and CD’s, which I literally couldn’t care less about. But I suppose if that’s your thing, they looked fine (hence the 3 stars and not 2).

Some of the friendliest customer service in town. Widest selection of movies and CDs in the metro area. The vinyl section appears to be constantly expanding, which is awesome. I can’t get enough of that handsome blond guy. What a hilarious character.

For its atmosphere, the place easily earns 5 stars. They have a VAST selection of CDs, Records, DVDs, and Video Games. The place reminded of being in a record store, back when they were in their hey-​day.
Unfortunately, after spending about 40 minutes, walking through their store, I found the prices for much of its inventory, were too high for my interest. Perhaps if I were a collector of old relics, i’d be willing to pay 14.99 for a plastic disc, but my better conscious knows that in 2015 its a total waste.
I would recommend this place to someone who is willing to pay a slight premium, for the excitement of the nostalgic merchandise. Otherwise, the same items can be found for a fraction of the price at thrift stores, on craigslist, or most any place online.

this store has a wide selection used and new cds, games and movies. I go by every few weeks to check it out & always find something! good deals on used items as well, and email coupons!

I can’t tell you when I was last here, but I do know it’s been years. This is a great store with used and new CDs, and movies and other odds and ends related to TV, movies and music.
The staff won’t bother you, as in they won’t talk to you until you are handing over your money, so if you’re in for a browse it will be uninterrupted.
I spent an hour or more here today wandering the shelves looking for a bargain or items I needed to replace and got lucky with 8 for under $ 20. They guarantee the items will be in good condition on the used.
They also buy good quality CDs and movies so if you’re looking to unload a few bring them here.
Staff never spoke with me until I paid and then they were less than friendly. The guy who checked me out took my items with a «hey I can ring you over here» followed by a series of three questions (their $ 15 annual membership card that gets you 10% off at each visit, whether I wanted 3 magazines for $ 14.95, and whether I wanted to preorder American Sniper). He never changed the inflection in his voice, nor acted like he gave two cents about my answer. Then he stated my total. No «thanks have a great day» or nothing. I would have given them 1 star only for staff but the selection and pricing forces me to bring that to the 3.
Thankfully I don’t need to go here often.

This isn’t too bad of a store. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. A very wide range of dvd’s but not so much a big selection of blu-​ray, granted blu-​ray is still somewhat new but you can find a bigger selection at Target. The display of movies is a little hard to just «browse» you have to flip through like a rolodex. Would also like to see more blu-​ray collections instead of having to get the individual movies. The prices are fair but could be better especially for used. All and all it’s ok.

Terrible. Do not waste your time. Worst customer service and that is good enough reason to shut this place down.

My IT friend at work had advised me to hold off installing the most-​recent iPhone update for about a week, to make sure there weren’t any terrible bugs involved.
About a week later, I sent him an email with a photo of Lawrence and Dustin, with the caption, «Is it safe?» meaning, was it cool to install the update.
I hope you’re sitting down for this part: he did not know what the photo, nor the caption meant.
He’s never seen «Marathon Man».
Today we discussed the movie a bit more, and partially because of the fact that my friend has been so generous to me and my chihuahua recently, I decided right then and there to scoot over («scoot over» is obviously an oxymoron since no one has ever «scooted over» to anything on Colorado blvd) to my favorite movie store, Second Spin, to pick up a pre-​loved copy of the movie for him.
I was (still am) feeling quite low after a sad visit to Right Time Watch Repair next door, (feel free to check out that review for details, if you want them) when I went in to Second Spin. I wasn’t sure if Marathon Man would fall under «Drama» or «Action» (full disclosure here: I’ve tried, twice, to watch it, and never made it through. It’s just not my kind of movie, but maybe because of the whole «Is it safe?» thing, I think everyone should at least *try* to watch it).
An employee was scurrying around re-​stocking some stuff, so I asked him if he’d know where it might be. When I’m shopping, I generally prefer to at least make a good effort to try and find stuff on my own before I bug an employee, but tonight I just didn’t have it in me. He was so happy to help, and he was kind of shocked when I explained why I needed this particular movie. He agreed that the «Is it safe?» thing is the very minimum of a fundamental reason for everyone to have seen this movie. There was one copy left!
I think it was meant to be.
I was feeling 4% better as I headed to the checkout. When the dude (I’m sure he won’t mind the term) ringing me up said it came to $ 12-​something, I handed him a twenty, and he said «Can I see your ID?» I was so tired and sad that I actually began to reach into my wallet when he goes, «Oh, ha! This is cash, I don’t need your ID. Sorry, I’m really, really tired.» I told him it was no problem because I was so tired, I almost gave it to him.
I’m glad I visited Second Spin after my dad experience at Right Time Watch Repair because the helpful employees and warm humor at Second Spin brightened my day a bit — which is as much as it was possible for it to be brightened.

Convenient location to periodically stop in and [try to] get rid of my cd collection. Just a few thousand more to go. Friendly staff.

I have enjoyed going to this place for years. I have found some of the hardest movies and music to find such as David Bowie Ziggy Stardust or the movie «Vamp». Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. I think Chris especially. My only small issue was when I placed special orders (probably once a month), they haven’t always called me in a timely manner to let me know. Prices are great. Hours are great. Selection changes daily and I find myself pushing to see how hard I can make it to find obscure items such as Born to Ride or a movie (starts with a «B») that has David Bowie in it. If you have a hard time finding music or movies, this is the place to go!

This is the last great bastion of used CD shops! Correction, media shop. They have tons of movies as well. I still love browsing the shelves looking for hidden treasures rare releases. They accept trade ins and have a great online selection too.
You can still listen to the album in their listening area before you buy it. The prices are great and they have deals for buying more than one at a time.

Great selection, prices are high for some of it. Hours not posted anywhere and are incorrect online and the main manager older lady was down right rude. She was pushy and said you need to make your purchase or get out. Even the nice guy checking us out was embarrassed by her behavior and apologized to us. Needs way better management I will not give them any money with how we were treated tonight.

This place is now by far my favorite Record Store. I walk in and see Aisles and Aisles and CDs… that’s a good sign. I am mostly into Metal and there was not a shortage of it. The prices are decent. It depends, if you want something brand new it’s $ 10-​$ 25. If you want a used CD it’s about $ 1-​$ 10. But I came out of there with 4 CDs and a T-​Shirt all for a total of $ 30. Which is REALLY good. Not to mention the cashier (I don’t remember his name) was very funny and nice. They have a great staff here that makes you feel comfortable and happy. Anytime I have the festering for some new Metal music I will be coming back here for sure.

Since moving to Denver I have greatly missed Amoeba Music in San Francisco… However Second Spin has always found a way to help me fill the void of second hand music, movies, and so much more!
I can say it’s hit or miss you you find what you’re looking for used, sometimes you have to give in and buy an item full price, but when you can find a handful of «not quite new releases» you feel like you hit gold! They always have a great special running where you buy 3 used get 1 free. The best part… Wait for it… You can MIX AND MATCH! Huzzah! Some Dvds, Blurays, Cds… Even games and a selection of records!
They will also allow you to trade in some of the movies you’re done with and apply that towards your next purchase for more spending power or you can take the cold hard cash. Having done many a trade to different types of second hand establishments I can say that you really shouldn’t bring a huge bundle at once. It always seems like you do better on your trades when you bring in about 10 items at a time. Also be wary because if they already have a few of an item they probably wont take it.

I’ve always been a fan of hand-​me-​downs. ALWAYS.
Every since I was a kid, my «older, cooler cousins» would donate their gently used awesome clothes, books, shoes, jewelry and more to my sister and I. We would get insanely stoked when they would walk in with heaping bags FULL of stuff they were getting rid of… okay, I’m still excited to this day when anyone shares their clothes with me :)

Because my boyfriend is obsessed with this store, we made our way there over the holiday to sell some dvd’s we weren’t interested in pursuing [we just could NOT get into sons of anarchy!] and for a few finds of our own… and boy did we strike it rich! Here’s a few things to know when coming here:
1. You can sell or trade anything you’re looking to get rid of, browse oldies other people didn’t want, or simply purchase things brand new.
2. It usually takes roughly 30 + minutes for them to value your items [if you’re selling things back] so beware to not come during peak times, or have a shit ton of stuff to sell back all at once. oye.
3. Their is porn. awkward.
4. We scored a few seasons of Seinfeld for $ 5. yes. $ 5.
Overall, this place is rad. I find myself coming here more than a girl would, but i can’t help it!
CHECK IT!

The CD selection here is very good, particularly the used discs. They have movies as well, but I never look at that stuff. I was actually pretty impressed with the prices here as well for the used stuff. They don’t sell nearly as much of the «other stuff» such as clothing, toys etc. as some other stores around town, but I don’t find myself buying that stuff at music stores anyway. The vinyl selection IMO is lacking. It’s very small and almost all classic rock or pop from what I saw. I wasn’t blown away by prices on the used vinyl, but it is a place to pick some up if you can find something you like and you’re in the area.
I’m sure I’ll stop in again at some point when I’m in the area.

Second Spin takes you back to another era, you remember… when they used to carry actual physical media (CDs, DVDs, BluRays, Vinyl, and the usual tsotchkes that accompany them) **IN** stores?
They’ve got a cool space, carry both new and used, and the pricing seems in line with online pricing, which is to say, where it should be.
It’s fun to poke around and I could see getting lost, wandering amongst the aisles for an hour or two.

Who says media is dead? Not here! This place is an audio and videophile’s dream!
They carry new and used CD’s, DVD’s, Bluray and console videogames. The selection here is better than you find at any «Big Box» retailer. It’s a gold mine for finding rare, obscure and out-​of-​print titles at very reasonable prices. Trade in your used media for cash or credit. Might not be much but it’s a great place for getting rid of your unwanted stuff.
They also have a website
that helped me locate a couple of out-​of-​print DVD’s that were going for ridiculous prices on eBay and Amazon and got them new, unopened, for less than their original retail prices when they were sold out everywhere else online. They shipped very quickly too. Do keep in mind though that the inventory on their website is for their warehouse in California and does not reflect their current in-​store inventory which is constantly in flux. For that reason I made a special trip to their store to see if they had any more specific titles I was looking for. They didn’t but chances are they’d be here because you won’t find them at your local Walmart, Target or Best Buy. I’ll be checking here regularly for rare stuff. You never know just what may turn up.
In an age where media is going digital and retailers like Barnes & Noble and Best Buy are removing physical media from their shelves, Second Spin is like a lighthouse beacon shining in the vast waters of the dreary retail sea.
