Royal Crest Dairy

While the idea of Royal Crest Dairy is a good one, the implementation of it is very poor. My husband and I signed up for Royal Crest the last week of August 2015. In just four months, they managed to mess up our order THREE times – almost once a month! That is just totally unacceptable and the company’s screw-​ups caused havoc for us. I cancelled my service today because they are unreliable. Most recently, I wanted some egg nog for the holiday since we were having family over. Our order, which came on Christmas Day, did NOT include the egg nog. I called the customer service number located on my order form and received an answering service stating that they were closed until Monday, Dec. 28. They did not even leave me the option of leaving my name and number… I had to wait three days before I could talk with someone about the mistake.
Once I did talk to them today, one of the supervisors (Derrick) laid into me about not being able to get through to anyone on Christmas Day. He assured me the customer service center was open that day. I told him it was not, and he had the wrong information. After arguing with me, not apologizing for not bringing the egg nog (turns out they ran out… my driver was supposed to leave me a note stating they were out, but he didn’t do that either), and making me feel horrible, I just cancelled my service.
While Royal Crest may be helpful and convenient for some people, it wasn’t for me and my family. I will not be supporting this company again. ~Natalie W.

Service is a mess. When we signed up the lady couldn’t say what products were Colorado local. We finally identified three that were and went with those.
After a month, they called on a Monday and left a message for us. Tuesday, I tried to log into the account to adjust our order for Wednesday as I’d been doing each week and it said there was no account, it’d been cancelled. Wednesday they took the box. I then got the bill, and it turned out they’d charged us for a dozen of a product that we never got (and I don’t actually think they even offered), and because of that high bill the card had declined on the Monday. It’s been two weeks and while they called to apologize about the mis-​charge, they still haven’t sent a corrected bill or ever tried to fix that they randomly aggressively cancelled our account due to their own mistake.
Weird.

Royal Crest milk is really good milk, but they don’t tell you how much the costs when you sign up. The first bill I got revealed that a gallon of milk was$ 5.89? I’m willing to pay extra for quality but I don’t think it’s THAT good.
I wrote cancel across the entire month order form like they told me to do when I signed up. They ignored it. Then called and left a message acting confused… did you mean cancel service or just one time. I then wrote CANCEL SERVICE across it the next week. Called me again this morning acting confused. «Do you want to cancel just this week or cancel service?» «Service!» «Why?» I told them the milk was too expensive.
They are supposed to pick up the box next week. we’ll see…

Love their products, but they have the WORST customer service. I have struggled with them for 2 days. Looking for other service.

I love their costumer service! I equally love their chocolate milk and pumpkin spiced egg nog!!! Eggs and sour cream are phenomenal as well! Oh, and the green chile dip. :) Keep up the good work!

I have to say I’m pretty disappointed. A door to door sales rep came and knocked on our door (very friendly guy) got us pretty excited about the company and took down some basic information and took our first weeks order, set a date, and that was it. Pretty excited. He calls back a few days later (about a day before we were supposed to get our first delivery) says he needs additional info. Takes my social and then i hear jothing back. We get nothing delivered. I give it a few days, went to the store, at this point didnt buy milk, chocolate milk for my kids, or eggs (all stuff we ordered) I called their number and they say due to my credit they can’t deliver milk. I monitor my credit weekly. I literally pay all my credit cards on time and every other bill, weekly get pre approved letters for vehicles, credit card offers, etc, but can’t get approved for milk? My credit score isn’t an 850, but i know its not bad at all. Its frustrating that after my «additional» information was taken I heard nothing. I dont mind setting up auto pay, I dont mind paying in advanced, Im pretty easy. But very very disappointed that I heard nothing from anyone after «more info» was taken. The only reason I didn’t give 1 star only is because the people were very nice. So i guess to sum it up, more up front to the consumer is needed and better communication. If there are other options then I don’t know about them and if you need like an 850(of course im being a little sarcastic) for some milk that’s just crazy. As a consumer I dont get frustrated often, but with this situation I’m very very frustrated. Not sure if I would even give them any type of future business or refer, but everyone does deserve a 2^nd chance. Maybe in a few years or something. Now I just wait for them to pick up their little white box they left outside my house.

I have not yet had any experience with the customer service. We have just started this service, and this review is to share our experience with the taste of the milk and the amazing change of switching over to organic milk with no antibiotics, hormones, etc.
Here’s the deal: I’m stubborn when it comes to fads. I don’t like to jump on board just because everyone else is doing it, so I have been slow to accept the organic thing. But, I also care about health and haven’t been able to escape certain excellent blogs and scientific studies that seem to back up this «fad». So, when a Royal Crest Milkman stopped by and offered a jug of milk for me to try out for free, I said yes.
My husband is a big milk drinker. He always has been. He will drink big glassfuls at dinner and lunch and breakfast. So I gave this free organic milk to him to try. First thing he noticed was that there was definitely a sweetness difference. I’ve heard that regular store-​bought milk has had sugar added. Apparently, that’s true. The Royal Crest Milk is not as sweet. But the texture is amazing. Regular store bought milk has a much thicker, almost mucous-​like texture. (Actually, when you realize that organic milk without all the anti-​biotic and hormone junk doesn’t, it kinda makes you wonder what makes it that way… ugh.) In comparison, the Royal Crest Milk, while losing none of its creaminess, is not mucous-​like. In fact, it just tastes… really good. Like, you can almost taste the purity.
Okay, so we liked it. We figured we’ll sign up for at least one gallon a week, right? Just so my husband can drink it, is what I’m thinking, because I still don’t think that the cost of switching from regular store-​bought milk to organic (and I checked it out: Walmart Organic is 6.14 a gallon, and Royal Crest Dairy is 5.99, so this is actually a deal for Organic milk, especially since it’s local) is worth it for all my cooking. I mean, I bake and cook a lot. I use about 2 gallons of milk a week. That’s a big expense jump on the grocery bill. So, this signing up for 1 gallon a week is a big enough deal for now.
Keep in mind my husband drinks a lot of store bought milk. And now, he’s switched off to just the organic milk. About 5 days in, he starts feeling sick. Head-​aches, a little nausea, aches in his muscles, even foggy-​brain. It took us a couple days to realize: he’s detoxing. He’s detoxing from no longer drinking all the junk in the non-​organic milk.
Okay. Mind blown moment here: If there is that much junk in regular milk that a man could have detox reactions from switching to another after only drinking the good stuff for five days… what on earth is the junk that is swimming around in that store-​bought milk???
I’m done. I just jumped whole hog on to the Organic truck, fad or no fad. Royal Crest Dairy has my dairy business from here on out. I don’t want the junk in my husband’s system or mine, or my kids. I want the pure stuff, and that includes in my cooking, baking. I’m going to up my purchases to get all the dairy they offer that is organic. Thanks for letting us give it a try. You have earned my business, just for keeping your cows in organic shape.

I canceled and they gave me three weeks worth of milk eggs and cream cheese. And then they charged me for taking it out of the box and throwing it out after it started smelling. They told me they’d pick the box up and they didn’t. So I looked inside and there was a ton of spoiling food!!! I want my money back royal crest. So unprofessional!!!

It’s all fine and dandy until something goes wrong, so horribly wrong.
Despite my fairly consistent refrigerator, thermostat, and consumption habits over the past, oh I don’t know, 40+ years, I had a couple of weeks in a month where the milk went bad.
When I called to complain, it was all about how it must have been something *I* did (again, I haven’t changed where I put the milk or how often I access the milk in YEARS!) and never was there an offer to refund or replace other than to say that next time leave the milk to rot in the milk container and they’d pick it up to analyze what’s wrong with it and bring me a new one.
Ok, guys, call me a few neurons short here but if I leave the milk outside for you to pick up, chances are it’s going to spoil, so what BIG REVELATION will you be giving me other than «duuuh… your milk spoiled».
So why the two stars? Like I said the service is fine and somewhat reasonable compared to the grocery store milk down the street *until* the milk goes bad and it starts costing you $$$ because they won’t even make up for it. That and their customer service reps feel more like Comcast «Retention Center» representatives than like people who actually want to help you.
«Did you put your milk on the door?»
«Yes, like I’ve done with every other milk (including yours) for years, why should THIS week be any different!?»
Nimrods.
Buy your own cow. It’s probably less hassle.
Update: After I went to cancel they offered to lift their magical «1 gallon of milk and a small, highly marked up item» or «½ gallon of milk and two highly marked up items» minimum order requirement. It seems just a bit disingenuous that their REQUIREMENTS can be thrown away so easily once you start balking.

We had problems with bad milk and several late deliveries. We canceled and I do not recommend.

My husband and I have used Royal Crest Dairy for the past year and are cancelling the service. We had to switch from Longmont Dairy because they no longer serviced where we were moving too. Longmont’s milk tastes better and was cheaper. My biggest complaint with Royal Crest is their customer service. I have had to speak to a supervisor TWICE because I felt that I had been treated so poorly. I basically had a representative force me into cancelling because she didnt want to help me. Save your money and use door to door organics or some comparable service.

Was doing good till they can’t do what we asked them to do. We wanted our payment out on the first not the 10^th of each month. We loved there service but needed it to be paid on the first

I’m a new customer, so I’ll give it that caveat, but so far I have been very impressed with Royal Crest. The milk is great — the 2% is some of the richest, most satisfying milk I have had in a long while and the whole milk is even better. The cottage cheese is the best I have ever had. Seriously. They include several other products that are okay — I don’t really care about cookie dough or chip dip — but they do have some other staples that are nice to have like bread and eggs. Unfortunately, none of the non-​dairy items are local. Most of the stuff that they sell is fairly cost-​competitive with the store except for the milk. However, the milk is on-​par with store-​bought organic milk, meets all of the same standards in organic that I’m looking for (no hormones, no antibiotics), and is a superior product to store-​bought organic milk. The customer service has been over-​the-​top friendly, but again, I’m a new customer, so we’ll see how it all plays out. It was nice that when I called, I didn’t have to press a single button to talk to a human being. I’ll update to five stars later if I continue to enjoy the service or downgrade if I have similar experiences to other reviewers. I hope I can give it five.
UPDATE:
So we’ve been using this service for a few months now, and I haven’t had a single negative experience. The milk products are all great, we get exactly what we order, and the price, while a little higher than the store, keeps us from making impulse buys at the store, so it actually is saving us money. Oh, and the milk lasts a long time — longest we had was two weeks, without any change in flavor or smell. Still delicious! Marked them up to five stars.

Only giving 1 star cause Unilocal makes U in order to do a review! They don’t deserve it though! Long story short I had them a few months than stopped because I started my own business and it was cheaper to just grab milk while out. It’s been over a year and thought. I got my last bill than called ppl and told them I would send out money order in 2 weeks. So now I thought I would try it again. This time was gonna just pay the extra $ 4 a month and let them just take it off my cc. This morning I has nothing! No milk, no cheese, NOTHING! Yep I call and they tell me I have a bad debt with them and mind U I have my money order saying I paid. No they want to run my credit for milk lol no thanks. To top it off… Jill one of their sparkling employees hung up on me! I called back and told them to come get their box! Sorry I’m in process of buying a home and don’t need my credit pulled for milk lol

«Udderly» disappointing. Tried to sign up for service last year, was told my neighborhood was too dangerous. Moved, tried to sign up again. John the sales guy called and promised to be at my house at 7:30 tonight. It’s now 9pm, with no word. Clearly they don’t want my business. And what the hell are they doing peddling garbage like Sara Lee bread? You can’t find a single local bakery to partner with? Why don’t you just tattoo «I’ve sold out to the industrial food system» on your forehead and be done with it.
The sales guy called me three days later to let me know he got «sick» and sorry for ghosting me. No one else could have called and told me? Shameful. Their drivers are also very dangerous on the road, avoid them if you see a Royal Crest truck.

I love milk, always have, but in the past I very rarely had any on hand due to infrequent grocery store trips as the closest stores are just a bit to far to make quick trips. Royal Crest has changed my life! OK, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I always have fresh milk now, so that’s pretty nice.
The quality of the milk is absolutely top notch. I order the 2% and the richness of it really gives me the whole milk feeling I crave. Store bought 2% now tastes like water to me. I’ve on occasion ordered the Royal Crest skim for visitors, and while I’ve never be able to tolerate skim from the store, Royal Crest’s is good in a pinch! I do order other things as well, like juice and cheese and the occasional loaf of bread, and they’re just fine, and not too overpriced, but they aren’t the reason I signed up, so I don’t need to be blown away by them.
After a year of service, the only thing that I could even potentially complain about is how early they deliver to our house. Frequently I’m not even be in bed yet when the next morning’s delivery is made. That being said, even if I don’t get to it until 8 – 9 the next morning I’ve never had any issues with spoilage or anything like that, it’s just something I’m aware could happen in the summer heat.

I met Ben from Royal Crest Dairy and here is what I have found:
I signed up for service. They are thorough and follow up nicely.
They could take the task of shopping for dairy off my plate. It is automatic. Higher cost outweighed by time and fuel cost on my behalf.
Milk is good
The eggs they have are good
The 4% cottage cheese has pasteurized skim milk, milk, cream, grade a whey, salt, nonfat milk, guar gum potassium sorbate, mono and diglycerides, citric acid, natural and artificial flavor, carrageenan, locust bean gum, corn (gmo?) starch, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, monopotassium phosphate, enzyme, carbom dioxide.
I usually buy Daisy that shows Cultured skim milk cream and salt Pasteurized
They carry Chiobani I won’t bother listing ingredients just google Chiobani
I use Mountain High a local Colorado Product Cultured Pasteurized Milk, Nonfat Milk, Pectin, Live Cultures (S. Thermophilus, L. Bulgaricus, L. Acidophilus, B. Bilidus, and L. Casei)
I gave them this feedback waiting on response.
I only order the milk and eggs now.
Good to great for service. For those that want convenience and do not read labels, A higher priced equivalent to the grocery store. With chemicals as ingredients in much of their products, even the half and half to eliminate separation?, In my opinion marginal offerings to those that think less ingredients are healthier.

We have had RC for 1 year now and absolutely LOVE IT. We have had NO issues with them. They have excellent customer service too.
We get milk and eggs on our weekly order and then add stuff here and there as needed, like cream, butter, apple juice, cream cheese, etc.
Everything we have received from them is delicious and fresh. The prices for milk and eggs are only like 30 more than the store. So worth it!

They have online ordering so you can change your standard up until 7PM online the night before. You can also change your order and put it in your box by delivery time. Works great!

I really try to reserve my 5 star reviews for company’s who’s products and services are exceptional.
My family has been using Royal Crest for years now (I’m going to say like 5), and we have never had a bad experience. We have changed our order online or via the card, and the only time they made a mistake — which was to deliver one time when we were on vacation, I called them and they promptly took it off the bill.
Were we live right now they deliver to twice a week, so it’s really convenient. Unfortunately we are looking to move to an area where they only deliver once a week so that will be a bummer. We always give our driver a good tip at Christmas time, but we only started doing that after he earned it, so I’m sure that at least helps our service.
The products… WOW! Their milk is some of the best I’ve ever had — reminds me of the milk I got when I was a kid, fresh from the farm. I can drink the non-​fat milk and I can’t stand store bought non-​fat. We get the kids whole milk (they skinny little runts need the extra fat… grrrrr). Everyone loves it.
We also get their egg’s when ever possibly, they are always WAY fresher than the ones from the store — they last longer, taste better, and when making fried eggs the yolks almost never crack (sometimes I get a little too over zealous in the cracking, but that’s my fault not the egg’s). Also we’ll get their OJ if we run out and I’m to lazy to run to the store for the weekend.
If we get eggnog from the store, they kids don’t drink it, but if we get Royal Crests they power through it. Personally I think it looks/​feels like snot so I won’t drink it, but the kids love it. They also love their chocolate milk, which we only get every great once in a while as a treat. Same for some of their cookie doughs, only bought them a few times, but they are really good.
We used to get Longmont Dariy, but we switched to Royal Crest for two reasons — Twice a week delivery, as it offered us a lot more flexibility; and the plastic bottles, as when our kids were younger the glass was too heavy we had to take my son to the ER to get glass removed from his foot when he dropped on the porch and it shattered and he step on the glass. We honestly tasted or noticed no difference in the quality of either companies products.

I really WANT to love Royal Crest. But… their product selection just isn’t good enough and the delivery execution is flawed. I placed my order Monday, got something else Tuesday, called, and then didn’t get my order Wednesday either. Too much work for something that should be convenient.
As for the products, the PLAIN yogurt has 35 GRAMS of sugar. The whole wheat bread has high fructose corn syrup. It’s just not healthy enough.
It’s a great idea and I hope they get their bugs worked out.
