History

Established in 1983.

Founded in 1983, Denver-​based Roth + Sheppard Architects is nationally recognized for its elegant, yet functional public safety architecture and highly innovative restaurant, retail and entertainment spaces. With more than 65 awards from the AIA, ASID, IIDA and other design associations, over the past 27 years Roth + Sheppard has contributed to the planning and design of more than 40 law enforcement facilities, as well as 80 restaurants and high-​end retail stores. In 2010 Roth + Sheppard won the prestigious AIA Architecture Firm of the Year awards for both Denver and the State of Colorado, acknowledging the firms leadership role in design, mentoring, teaching and professional practice .

Recently completed projects include the Museum Store at the Denver Art Museum, ModMarket restaurant in Boulder, D’Jangos restaurant in Crested Butte, 21 Tokyo Joes Restaurants, Vesta Dipping Grill in LoDo Denver, Room and Board in Cherry Creek and South Coast Plaza, and Scandinavian Designs Furniture.

Mr. Sheppard received his Masters of Architecture Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1979. Following a teaching honorarium at Tech and an apprenticeship at the Mother Earth News Magazine, he moved to Denver to join the prestigious design firm, W.C. Muchow and Partners. Within 2 years Jeff was appointed associate in charge of design and was responsible for several award winning projects including the Winter Park Ski Area Base Facility and the Jefferson County Sheriff and Detention Facility.

In 1983, Jeff and his partner Herb Roth, established Roth + Sheppard Architects. Six years later Mr. Sheppard was named the Denver AIA Young Architect of the Year. As the principal in charge of design, his projects have received over 50 American Institute of Architects Awards and 20 Awards from industry publications. Noteworthy projects include: The Denver Art Museum Lobby and Shop, Room and Board Furniture Stores, Vesta Dipping Grill, Cucina Colore, and Carellis Restaurant.
