Rocky Mountain Constructors

I hired Rocky Mountain Constructors to fix a hole in my mother’s roof. Since I live far I was not able to be there when they came to inspect the roof and give me an estimate. When Brian Ward called me to let me know the cost he told me that the whole roof needed to be done and that he would work to have the insurance company pay. I understood this was not of course set as the insurance company could refuse to pay.
Brian had his boss Frank Damico come to inspect my mom’s roof as well. He agreed with Brian and said they would be there when the insurance came back out to go over the roof.
The day the insurance company was sending someone back out to her house a different person showed up and introduced himself to my mom. He said that he would be staying out in his car until the insurance man came. When he man showed up they all went onto my mom’s house. A little while later the new person from Rocky Mountain Constructors informed my mom that there was no damage!
Once they were gone my mom called me and told me that they now didn’t find any damage. So of course I called Brian back to find out what was going on! He didn’t sound surprised, but he said that he was the boss and so they would have to go with his findings, but they would have a little conference and discuss it. I never heard anything back from Brian. A couple of days later I called my mom and she said «Guess who just showed up there». Brian just showed up at my mom’s house to hand deliver her the invoice. My mom is vulnerable as she is a senior and is very trusting. I made her go to a place away from him to tell her to make sure she did not let him in her house as she didn’t know this guy. I told her companies don’t just go around hand delivering invoices.
The total amount for to fix the hole was $ 500 but with the problems that had happened they reduced it to $ 250. I though this was great and that I would pay it then have a different company come to check the roof as I didn’t know if the total roof needed to be repaired or none of it. We got the invoice on a Thursday; the next Monday the check was sent to the company. Then Maybe two weeks later Brian Ward told my mom that the invoice had not been paid. I assured her it had as the check had cleared the bank. I called the company and they said that Brian didn’t know what he was talking about.
Now about a month and a half later Brian Ward has called my mom again saying that the invoice has not been paid and they are now asking for the full $ 500. I once again called the office to have them stop calling.
Last time I visited my mom’s house a couple of weeks ago I was talking with her next door neighbor. He told me that he talked with the guy (Brian) who came to fix mom’s roof and that he was thinking of having his roof looked over since it was 14 years years old. Then one day the neighbor came home and found Brian on his roof. Of course he got mad and told Brian to get off his property.
I wish I had never heard of this company and hope that I never have to hear of them again!
