Established by designer and maker Kelly Peterson, Quint Handmade Furniture is a Denver, Colorado based furniture brand. The mission is creating handmade furniture that celebrates the beauty of natural materials, by using simplistic forms and clean lines. We handcraft our pieces to sustain daily use and to maintain integrity over generations.

The primary objective behind the design of Quint Handmade Furniture is simplicity. We do not follow trends of style or fashion but instead practice to create pieces with simplistic forms and clean lines. Form and function play an equally important roll as there is no unnecessary details or elements in our pieces. While eliminating decorative distractions, the beauty of the natural materials we use are intended to be the focal point. Our scale and proportion decisions are influenced by the intention of sustaining daily use. We aim to design our pieces with a timeless aesthetic, taking inspiration from many generations of proven styles and artistic sensibilities. We draw from the past while also considering successful elements of modern design. Our furniture is built to fit in any classic or contemporary setting.

History

Established in 2014.

The origins of each project begin at the lumber yard. This is where the design leaves the computer and begins to take shape in reality. At Quint we choose only premium hardwood lumber to ensure beauty and durability in our pieces. We select our boards based on distinguishing grain patterns and characteristics fitting for each project. Respect for our materials is of great importance. We thoughtfully mill our lumber to maximize yield, which is why no piece will be identical in size or appearance to the next. Each and every piece we create will be unique and part of a limited edition. Using proven methods and techniques, our heirloom furniture is built to sustain daily use and to withstand the test of time. We create pieces intended for passing down from down from one generation to the next.

Business Owner

Quint designer and maker Kelly Peterson first discovered the art of wood working in his father’s cabinetry shop while growing up in eastern Iowa.

After graduating from the University of Iowa, his ambition to learn the craft of furniture making led him to Chicago, to work as a shop assistant for a small but very accomplished wood and metal furniture shop. While working there Kelly received a priceless education in the art of welding and metal fabrication as well as extensive wood working practices and techniques.

With a new education and career path, Kelly decided to make his way back to Colorado. Kelly now resides in Denver, CO, working with a premier local design and build company and pursuing his passion of furniture making while building his brand of Quint Handmade Furniture.
