So sad to see Pizzicato shut down! It’s a shame more people in Denver didn’t try it out. Pizza by the slice, draft beer, and a great variety of gourmet pizzas! Though the location isn’t great — tough to park, competes with Benny Blancos and the hipster haven of City O City(whose pizza doesn’t compare), and they inherited a former Chipotle locale that was never busy. I even called their Corporate office to see if I can mark my calendar for another opening in Denver, but alas, the poor showing means no future plans to franchise as of now. Too bad they didn’t open in the Highlands, I have a feeling they would have faired much better. Guess I’ll have to visit my parents in Portland more often for a slice of Puttanesca!

Good slice of pizza and glass of wine for a great price; however, and unfortunately, this restuarant closed last week. :(

Boy was I happy to see a Pizzicato open in Colorado! The short time I lived in Portland this place was one of my favorite joints to get a slice and a salad. Speaking of salad… It’s been 3 years now since I’ve scarfed down the arugula-pear salad with gorgonzola and candied walnuts.(My Fav) And I pretty much like everything that comes out of their oven if that means anything. They use good ingredients so expect to pay more than say… Abo’s or any other by-the-slice kinda place. They have a decent wine selection and some great happy hour specials as well. Now they just need to open one by my work.

Just moved to Denver and discovered Pizzicato while looking for apartments in Capital Hill. Since moving to the neighborhood I haven’t gone a week without Pizzicato. Delicious crust, salads and great microbrew happy hour. The guys working behind the counter are always friendly and willing to put on a few extra toppings for me. On a nice day their patio is fabulous!

The husband and I had a meeting at Penn Center last night; the meeting website promised refreshments. When we arrived there was not even a pitcher of water. My stomach growled in displeasure but a neon sign from across the street beckoned me. As I got closer, I could read, «Time for a Slice.» Hell yes, it was time for a slice. Pizzicato has a great looking menu of Pizza, Panninis, salads, and beer in the offering. I will go back and pick up a half baked pizza to take home and finish the job. This time I was here for that slice and three of the single slice options tempted me; I went with the $ 3.00/slice Puttanesca. It was ready in minutes and I ran back to sit in the back of the room and enjoy this little treasure of taste. As I quietly ate, the smell attracted several in the room and at break time, they too were beckoned by the sign. Nice crust, great ingredients, and a gem in Capital Hill.

This place deserves more stars on days with crappy weather because the service is a lot quicker when it’s not busy. I happened to stop in during lunch hour today and it took 15 minutes for them to throw together a caprese panini and some chips — to go. It’s somewhat understandable — the place had quite a bit of business, but man. If you have a patio with ample seating, anticipate the crowds on sunny, warm days and staff accordingly. The paninis are good, the pear salad(pears, walnuts, and gorgonzola — oh my!) is awesome, especially considering how much you actually get with the lunch portion. I haven’t actually tried the pizza yet, but they have this vegetarian option that looks really tasty. Slices are only around $ 3, lunch salads average $ 4…it’s really affordable. Plus, the staff is nice(if not a bit stressed out on the busy days). They do have a great patio, too, for what it’s worth. Just prepare to wait a bit if you wind up sitting out there on a 60-degree day in February.

Pizzicato has probably the best New York style pizza in the area. Top-notch ingredients, plenty of toppings, and a good crispy crust to boot. The service is very good, and there is a healthy assortment of beers. For a pizza and beer snob, this is the place to go. Is it just me, or is this place never busy? Granted I tend to go there at odd hours, but more often than not I’m one of maybe three tables.

Pizzicato: thank you for using quality cheese and sauce. Few pizzeria’s understand the need for whole milk mozzarella and well-spiced sauce. Friendly staff + quick service x quality food = I will be back.

I was really disappointed when my office moved away only a month or so after this cute little pizza joint opened right in the neighborhood. For the few weeks that it was convenient, though, I was here at least twice a week for lunch. The pizza is a really good quality AND a good price, between $ 3 and $ 4 per slice and the slices are very large. Just one slice and a drink always keeps me completely full until dinner time, and the daily by-the-slice offers were always creative and tasty. I’m a sucker for a pizza with artichoke hearts, so I strongly suggest the Puttanesca when it’s available. ALSO, this place has those nifty old-school punch cards — buy six slices, get the seventh free! I love those! I’m lobbying hard for their return into mainstream society, because they make me feel like I am accomplishing something mega important when I purchase something. I’m goal-oriented.

I just checked out this new kid on the block. I liked my salad more than my pizza. I had a small Chinese chop salad(red cabbage, lettuce, carrots, green onions, peanuts, noodles, sesame seeds, and spicy Asian dressing) which was actually pretty big and filling. It was crispy. *crunch* *crunch* *crunch* Ouch, my jaw kinda hurts. The pizza was average. Although they offer fancy pizza names like«Melanzana» or «Gamberetto,» the ingredients are just various combos of tomatoes, artichoke hearts, Italian sausage, feta, mozzarella, mushrooms, etc. I had the«Mescolanza» pizza(tomatoes, gorgonzola, ham, artichoke hearts, mozzarella); it was kind of greasy and plain. The dough was bland and kind of chewy, straining my jaw more. This is a decent place to enjoy a quick and inexpensive lunch, but I don’t think I would be back often. With so many pizza options in Denver, I still like Marco’s Coal Fired Pizza the best… their food is a little gentler on the jaw. 1 star off: average dough 1 star off: average toppings …hence the average rating, duh

This pizza is no better than Il Vicino, which is half the price. We’re still hunting for that great pizza place in Denver. Proto’s is better for this kind of pizza.

I have often complained about the limited pizza options in Denver. Growing up right outside of Philly, I have always taken good pizza for granted. I can honestly think of three different(and delicious) pizza shops that were within a mile of the house I grew up in and never disappointed. Then I moved to Denver… what’s so hard about making pizza? Sauce, dough and cheese right? I have heard some people say«It’s the water». I have no idea what that actually means, but they always look really serious when they say it, so I guess it’s something serious. Anyways, this morning I woke up hungover and I wanted pizza. Pizzicato has been open for a little over a month now and I have been looking for a reason to try it. This alcohol-induced afternoon was the reason. Since I was just ordering for myself I didn’t necessarily try a whole lot on the menu, but I will say that the pizza is good. Tastes fresh, REALLY nice and chewy crust — I’ll definitely order again. And they sell pizza by the slice and have fountain Cokes(a must when you are hungover.) With the addition of this place and Marco’s downtown, I can lament a little less about the state of pizza in Denver.
