One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

I received a call from this company with a deal of $ 59 for a service call. I told the individual on the phone that we had an issue with the a/​c and they agreed to apply the discounted service fee against the a/​c service trip. I was very specific that it was the a/​c and only the a/​c that I wanted checked out.
My wife was the only person at home when the technician stopped by. The technician went straight to the furnace and told my wife that in order to diagnose the a/​c issue he prefers to start by inspecting the furnace. He told my wife that he needed to clean the furnace and that would help him diagnose the a/​c issue. The cleaning would cost $ 325 but it was necessary. My wife agreed to the cleaning if it was necessary to diagnose the issue.
After he cleaned the furnace he finally went outside to the a/​c unit. After his inspection of the a/​c unit he said that it was shot and needed to be replaced. He provided my wife with two quote options. The first option was a new a/​c unit for $ 5,809. The second option was for a new a/​c unit and furnace for $ 8,831. He did point out that both the recommended a/​c and the furnace were smaller than the ones that we currently have installed.
I called the technician after I returned from work and asked him why he cleaned the furnace when I was very specific that I didn’t want or need any work done on the furnace just the a/​c and why he didn’t just check out the broken a/​c when he first arrived. He apologized and agreed that he should have just checked on the a/​c.
I told him that I wanted my check for the furnace cleaning returned. His manager called the next morning and told me my check would be returned in the mail — no apology was accompanied with this phone call. My check was returned in the mail which was the only positive outcome of this experience. I will never use this company again. I was able to fix the fan motor and capacitor myself for a total of $ 150. Clearly, the technician was only interested in selling me something that was completely unnecessary. A real disappointment that there are companies that try and take advantage of you when you were only looking for their help and so called expertise.

I.M.O. these guys are crooks. A/​C was working sub-​par and had One Hour come by for a look. Tech said the system was toast and while I’m at it, should replace the furnace too. Had a local family owned Heating and A/​C company provide a second opinion. They said everything is fine and just needed cleaning and freon recharge. A/​C works better than ever now!!!

So I decided to call these guys because my ac unit stopped blowing out cool air and I’m burning up in my own home. Granted, if I had read the Unilocal reviews first, I wouldn’t have called in the first place. They were actually really helpful on the phone and said they would get someone out here the same day. I told the guy on the phone that I live in a condo and he said it wouldn’t be a problem.
So I sit around at home all day waiting for someone to show up and about 3 hours after I set the appointment, they call and say they’ll be at my home in 15 minutes. At this point I was pretty impressed with the speed of this service. 15 minutes later, one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever had happen to me happened. This incompetent impersonator of a repairman called me and said verbatim, «we don’t do apartments. Sorry, you’re going to have to call someone else». I was stunned. I wasted half of my day to wait for these idiots to tell me «they don’t do apartments». Obviously I tried to get this guy to explain to me what exactly makes apartments so different from houses that they can’t even come take a look at it to which he provided no explanation other than «we don’t do apartments». The other thing that really ticks me off is that he had no advice to give me in the way of resolving the issue that the company had obviously sent me the wrong person. Frustrated, I said some not so family friendly words to the guy and hung up.
So here I sit. Sweating all over the place in my own home. Real classy. 0 STARS.

A tech came out due to a broken boiler. He said the boiler needed replacement, it was a waste of money to fix, and it would cost thousands of dollars. I told him good-​bye. The next tech from a different company repaired the boiler and it cost 280.00. I would never call One Hour again. I am relieved I never trusted them.

Had a furnace cleaning scheduled a week in advance. They would only give me a 4 hour window of when the tech could come out so I sit around and wait… not that big of a deal. Then they call my after I’ve already been waiting and tell me that they have to cancel my appointment because they don’t have someone to come out. As a business owner I think this is terrible service.
