Needle in the Hay

I have been going to Kristy for a few years now and don’t plan on going anywhere else. She is the queen of balayage. I have thick/​wavy long hair that can be a challenge. The cuts and color I have received from Kristy have always been exactly what I wanted and I always receive many compliments.
I just recently brought my 4 year old daughter in, who has never had her haircut and also received my thick hair genes from the hair fairy. Kristy was very patient with her. We ended up cutting about 4 – 5 inches off and it looks AMAZING! I will always trust her with our hair!

Kristy is amazing! She really listens to your needs/​concerns/​ideas and works with you to find exactly what you’re looking for. She is extremely knowledgeable (about products as well!) and always has awesome ideas when I don’t quite know what I want to do with my hair. She does both my cuts and color and I trust her 100%.
I would highly recommend Kristy to anyone looking for a stylist who truly cares about making you feel amazing about yourself. I always feel like a million bucks when I leave her salon and I can’t even count how many people have asked me who does my color… it’s so pretty. All around, a visit to see Kristy at Needle in the Hay is a wonderful experience!

I have thick, curly hair, that has stumped many a stylist. I found Kristy by chance after three years of moving from person to person and getting bad cut after bad cut during a painful growing-​out phase. My first visit with Kristy was so thorough and such a transformation from previous cuts. Kristy is a true artist. She has a vision and talent for enhancing a person’s natural features. I think her personal style is a reflection of her skills as a stylist — to create timeless, chic, subtle, effortless beauty. She takes her time with me every time.

Best haircuts in town! I’m probably pickier than most and these are the only stylists I’ll let touch my hair!

I won’t be able to say enough about Kristy and Nikki at Needle in the Hay… they are both amazing at what they do! I can say that because I have been going to Kristy for my hair cuts for over 2 years and my wife has seen Nikki for just as long. I know how hard it is to find the right person you can trust and we love them both! Not only are they amazing, talented, and knowledgeable in their craft; they are also kind, caring and compassionate people! They listen to us on our good days and bad and we always leave feeling better and looking great! They both keep up on the newest styles and techniques, so I would highly recommend that you find time in their schedule before your family pictures, family gatherings, parties, and celebrations! Otherwise, if your just searching for the right hair salon, you just found one! I Highly recommend both Kristy and Nikki!!!

Needle in the Hay is in its infancy as its name, but only weeks into opening it feels like it’s been open for years in the best of ways.
First and foremost, for the stylist who I followed there… Long gone are the let down days where I went in to a stylist, stumbled over trying to communicate my vision for a cut, color, or a style. Over three years ago, I serendipitously stumbled upon Kristy from prior Unilocal reviews at her former salon. I can’t say enough about Kristy’s capacity to detect the aforementioned communication of vision and achieve it, on point, every time.
Her utmost attention always makes me feel her genuine investment in all of her guests. It is as if you are her sole client that day, every day. She never goes through the motions, and is always fostering the health of my hair, the cutting and coloring of it so that it never looks worn as many weeks pass since my appointment. Her color elections are beautiful… the sort I used to cover and high style magazines, and now I get to have for myself! She has taught me unselfishly how to style it when I ask, so that I can feel more confident about my hair on days where I’m not walking out of a salon with that swingy fresh look of a professional blow dry.
I get more compliments on my hair from perfect strangers, colleagues, family and friends than ever before.
There is something very special about a stylist like Kristy. She is a gem, and I know I’ll never look elsewhere!
Regarding the salon itself: Nikki and Kristy have made it very much a wonderful little space. The decoration is fresh, colorful, and inviting. The light and impeccable choices of art, storage space, and comfortable chairs all make it inviting and relaxing. Enjoyable music vibes with the personalities of the stylists and sets the tone for a nice hair getaway. Beverages to sip on complete the experience. The assistant Callie is warm, and her energy is welcoming and easy going.
It’s truly exciting to see the space that Kristy and Nikki have crafted at Needle in the Hay. They’ve already made it their own, and I look forward to seeing both of these wonderfully talented ladies exact their work of true beauty in the many times I’ll be in for my own hair :)

Finding a good stylist is like finding a good date– each time you try someone new, you just hope it’s worth the time and money. Finding an amazing stylist is like finding a soul mate– near impossible and only by luck. Thankfully, you’ve stumbled across the right one. Niki is amazing. She has been my stylist for over five years and I would not dream of going elsewhere. She is personable, engaged, extremely creative, and always walks through the process with me. She listens to me, though always guides me away from bad decisions. Her input is invaluable as she is in-​tune with the latest trends. I always feel beautiful! Plus, I am notorious for letting my hair grow out and not keeping up with appointments. And still, her cuts last months and months, despite my inattentiveness. I would without reservation recommend her new salon!
And, no, she did it ask me to write this review. I am offering my opinion of my own accord because of how blessed I feel to have found her! Finding a soulmate is hard enough :)
