Little H Burger

Well I’m not sure if this place is still in business, although they did change their name – likely from all the bad reviews.
But I was eventually contacted by the owner
And she wanted to make good on my bad experience, so she offered to reimburse me with a free coupon that would be waiting for me at the counter. However, when I tried to redeem a week later. No one at the counter knew what the heck I was talking about. Anyway, I’d still avoid this place. Oh,
They changed their name to Boulevard Burgers.

This has been over a year ago, but I liked the burger I had at the H Burger location on Blake St. (which is now closed), so I walked into this location. I sat at the bar in a seat directly next to the register. The server said they do not provide table service. I would have to come to the register. I was sitting next to the register, but he requested I come to the register — one foot away. I walked out and never looked back.
The last visit to the Blake St. location, which is closed, no wonder, was horrible. The bartender appeared to be drunk (he WAS doing shots, the bar was sloppy with spilled drinks, which it took awhile before being cleaned up after I sat down, and the restaurant had no soap in the house anywhere. The bathroom did not have soap, I asked the bartender, he said he would mention it. Of course he did nothing. I asked the host, he said «We are out of soap.» I asked does the guy fixin’ my burger at least have soap? He said «No, we do not have any soap anywhere.» I offered to pay for my beer and left. I then saw the host walking out the door to go buy soap.
It is my understanding H Burger restaurants are under one ownership, so I feel it is fair to share my experience for the other location here as the other location is closed.

I don’t know what it is with this place. The staff is always angry about who knows what. They act like it’s a bother for them to have to break up their little social gathering in the kitchen to help customers ordering food.
Here’s a tip to the employees, try being polite to customers. Try smiling. Try enjoying your JOB. After all, we are paying for over priced run if the mill burgers.
I will never spend my money here again… ever. and I will tell everyone I know to do the same.

I am in love with the burgers here… Especially the lamb, which is so tender I have a hard time not eating the whole thing without stopping. The hand cut fries are also awesome. I wish they would carry ginger beer like their counterpart downtown, but that is excusable because of the quality of the other products. I come here a lot and most of the staff is great though I have had trouble with a cashier a time or two. The menu might be the culprit because they don’t offer the lamb as a burger option except as the Colorado burger (which has a bunch of stuff on it that I don’t want) so sometimes it takes some explaining to order my cheddar bacon lamb burger. Denver needs more places like this.

We recently moved to the area and have been looking for some nice neighborhood eating spots and we quickly found our go-​to burger joint in H Burger. My wife and I have been several times now and we often find their burgers calling to us on nights when we «eat healthy». They are soooo good.
Anyway, I usually go with the Buffalo Burger which you can tell is quality meat and has never let me down. Their onion rings are also very good in my opinion… not too crispy, but not too soggy.
I also really like the atmosphere of the place. It’s very laid-​back and has a good neighborhood feel to it. I know their are some other H Burgers around CO, but you don’t get the same «burger chain» feel you get when you go to Smash Burger or places like that. They have TV’s for watching sports or news, but they aren’t blaring and overwhelming like you might find at a sports bar.
The service has always been friendly and attentive. We recently had a great encounter with one of the servers who took our order, I believe he was named Dustin. While we were waiting for our to-​go order at the bar, we struck up a conversation with him and he was very friendly and made sure we had some extra coupons for next time we come in (which will be soon). He and the other friendly servers have really given the place the type character and life that my wife and I look for in our neighborhood eating spots.

After a few more visits over the last year I still think Little H Burger hovers between 3 and 4 stars, but I wanted to give an update with some tidbits:
–the zucchini fries are awesome. You pay a little more for them, but they’re crunchy, cooked perfectly and come with a tasty dipping sauce.
–the onion rings are very good as well. Crispy, and not too greasy.
–I’ve had bad luck with the fries since my first visit– they’ve been on the greasy side and not crispy enough for my liking. I usually opt for onion rings.
–Burgers have always been good. They’re definitely using quality beef and grilling them to order.
–I have mixed feelings on the burger bun– I’m usually a fan of the brioche-​style buns, but this one gets soggy really quickly. Maybe they should toast it first.
–They make a delicious strawberry shake. I’d love to try one of the adult milkshakes, but never get the chance since I go here on my lunch break from work.
Overall, servers working the counter are always very personable, and I’ve never had an order accuracy problem. The lunch combo is a good deal, but starts to get pricey if you add cheese or wants substitutions. (It’s still worth it to sub the fries for onion rings or the zucchini– they’re vegetables, you can pretend it’s healthy!) I don’t think Little H is quite to the level of Parker Burger and the like, but it’s definitely a good lunch spot for the area.

After several time passing by this area, finally managed to convince Hubs to have Dinner here. Had a slightly late dinner here @ Little H Burger on Friday June 28 2013… Time was about 19:30hrs ish. When we first arrived there are several other patrons dining in at that hour too. Luckily when we arrived, we managed to get some seats on the Left Wing of this establishment.
Yes, the Menu IS INDEED Simple, but it feels underwhelmed… *Sigh* Both Hubs & I decide to have Colorado Lamb Burger ($ 10.99). Man, I thought Hubs wanted to order something different. Oh well. Great Minds Think Alike! Or perhaps both Hubs and I have similar taste preferences in some shape or form. We opt to have our Burger to be cooked WELL DONE. With our Dinner purchases we also opt for 1 Side Of Fried Jalapeño ($ 3.49), 2 Fountain Sodas at ($ 2.00 each).
Our order of Fried Jalapeño comes to our table after like about 10 minutes of waiting time. The Fried Jalapeño comes with a dipping sauce that seems and tasted familiar but still I am intrigued about the Actual name of this Dipping Sauce. After a few minutes later, our Main Entrée were sent to our table. Our WELL DONE Colorado Lamb burger comes with fries. The Colorado Lamb Burger is topped with Homemade Spicy Aioli, Feta Cheese, Tomato and a Bed Of Mixed Greens.
The fries that comes with it, were more like the «semi-​thick» kind that I don’t really fancy. I cut my Burger into half since I don’t feel like finishing my whole main entrée during that evening. The Lamb tasted a little more Gamey that I am used to. Hubs finished his Dinner. All in all, its an A-​OKAY Burger. Hubs even mentioned that Little H Burger, is a «UP Version» of SMASHBURGER. Hubs prefer SMASHBURGER Better than Little H Burger. Sorry Little H Burger. *Sad Face*
Decide to pack the leftovers in TOGO Boxes. Left the establishment at 20:15hrs ish. Many more patrons came in while we had our dinner there and when we were about to leave. Read in the Local paper somewhere that this Location will remain open, since the one in LODO and the one in Boulder will close their doors soon. Well that life especially in the Restaurant Industry…

I am very confused with the chalkboard sign near the restrooms that reads «Help us Don’t Unilocal us», yet they have a Unilocal sticker on a window… isn’t that suppose to symbolize an endorse and support for Unilocal?
I only had about 15 minutes allotted to order and eat, so instead of having the difficult and timely task of choosing between some of the more creative burgers, I just went with The Standard-​added smoked cheddar and spiced aioli (it comes with lettuce, tomato, and onions). Our order came out fast, mind you we were the only people there, but still appreciated. The burger was pretty darn good, patty flavored and grilled well. But for the price, it’s just missing something. With this spot not being far from my home, I’ll be back to try something more creative when I have the time and patience to make that decision. Still in the mean time, what’s up with that sign?

I love burgers and had (reasonably) high expectations for this concept.
Dry burger. Not well seasoned. Sauce was non-​existent. Dry, crumbly bun. Horrible, frozen fries.
Terrible. McDonald’s Grade F beef would have been better.
No wonder two of their locations closed just this week.

Stick with Smash Burger.
I was just looking for a quick bite, and didn’t feel like going out of my way for a delicious Smash Burger. I won’t make that mistake again.
Apparently Little H Burger sees themselves as a sit down steakhouse. Prices included! I should have left when I saw that the smallest burger was nearly $ 7, but I was hungry and in a hurry. Bah! It took them 20 minutes to make my tiny burger for takeout!
When I got it home, it was the puny size of a kids burger AND had no flavor! And they gave it to me in a huge styrofoam takeout box! Gross.
I might as well have gone out of my way … To ANY Smash location, given how long I stood there.
And the fact that they had a sign on the wall asking customers, please don’t Unilocal… Well, that just tips it. Why don’t you just make a better burger instead of telling customers not to reveal how bad yours are?

I’ll have to get used to eating lunch on the go with my new job and all the travel to new areas, something I’m not to worried about if I’m honest — more food destinations for me.
I was looking for just a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see a $ 5.99 5oz. lunch special. $ 1 up charge to add cheese, totally worth it IMO. I waited under 10 minutes for my burger and was very happy when my Little 5oz. H Burger arrived, cooked perfectly and finger licking down to the last bite. I always love the fresh cut fries — I ate them all like a true burger addict! Sometimes all you need a classic cheese burger to satisfy all your cravings.
I’ll admit that the atmosphere is a little cold and not quite on point for the place but I think the burgers are more than adequate and make up for the lack of atmosphere.
Nice to have quick food version of H Burger close to home.

I’m not sure what has happened to this H Burger over the last year or so, but it has really gotten progressively worse. I think today needs to be the last stop here, which sucks since they started off so well and it’s 4 blocks from my house.
The last two times with light crowds have been 25 minute plus waits… to get a burger. Seriously? The extra cooking time does explain the hockey puck of a burger that comes to your table though. What happened to my juicy Colorado lamb burger or the formerly always good HBurger? I’m also not sure how a place that serves freaking milkshakes doesn’t have milk for kids to drink.
It’s always seems a little on the dirty side too, like someone sort of pretty much kinda cleaned last night but clearly nothing has been done since then. For a good laugh look at the side of the fountain drink machine. There is a sign that says change filter every two months and right above it is the filter with years of something growing out of it.
All in all it feels like whoever is running this place kinda stopped caring. Maybe they can bring someone in that pays attention to details, cleans more than once in a while, puts a timer on the grill, and figures out how to cut the wait time in half.
The fries are still good.

First of all, the menu online is not accurate. Little H does NOT have fried artichokes (apparently they never have), so do not get your hopes up before calling to place your order! Aside from that, this place is great — just like H Burger, but more convenient for orders on-​the-​go. Check in on Unilocal and you’ll get a free small shake — can’t beat that!

I have been wanting to try this H Burger location for a while and on Halloween I finally got to!
I got the regular H Burger which I thought was really tasty! It had Anaheim Peppers in it which added a really nice touch to the burger in general! Very fine tasting!
They had french fries too which were pretty good!
Steve had a lamb burger which also was very tasty but out of meat preference I liked mine more.
While I would not say this is the best burger restaurant I have been to in recent memory it definitely worth making a visit to!

I like this place a lot, but found the décor off-​putting. It feels like this place isn’t sure what it wants to be. There are TVs and a sad looking bar area, which doesn’t quite work, in my opinion. I really hope Little H gets their act together. The burgers are solid and I am happy there is a location nearer to my home as I dislike parking and whatnot downtown, if I can avoid it.
I’ve been here three or four times now, once I ate in and the next time I ordered food to go and although I had a Google Offers coupon, which was for dine-​in only, the manager was nice enough to let me take the food to go, so 1 extra star for that. When I had family in town and we were trying to find a place to eat after a long day of skiing/​snowboarding, we decided to stop at Little H, as they had something that everyone could agree to.
My food was great, as well as everyone else’s, except for my nephew’s. For some reason they could not get the order right, even when they went back to correct it, as his burger was not well done, but still quite pink in the middle. Eventually they got the burger cooked thoroughly, but I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and BBQ sauce and my nephew’s burger was just a cheeseburger. His «second chance» burger was cooked thoroughly, but then BBQ sauce, bacon and cheese were added. As my nephew is an almost 7 year old, he’s quite picky, but at that point, my sister just removed the BBQ sauce and bacon, so that my nephew would eat the burger, because he was the hungriest of everyone and had been eating fries before his «meal» came back. I was a bit disappointed by this, but I’m still giving 4 stars for now. Their burgers are some of my favorites, which is why I keep returning.

And if you didn’t guess said girl was me. Turns out I had a Living Social deal for Little H so I made my way there and was surprised not a lot of hungover-​ite like myself were there, only churchies, hmmm freaky.
II sat at the bar and perused their menu. While I would have normally went for something traditional or spicy, I took a chance on the Colorado Burger-​a lamb burger with feta cheese, spicy aioli, lettuce and tomato.
Thoughts?
Oh hell to the yes and my belief that feta is betta still holds true! Now normally I would question what makes this burger a Colorado burger seeing it’s more Greek than anything but my eye was on the prize and I devoured that bad boy within minutes.
It was awkward though since it was a messy burger and while I was sitting at the bar this total hipster, super serious bus boy would just be there staring right back at me. Maybe the boy was in a competition for the world’s best busboy or maybe he is just a little too obsessive compulsive about his job but homeboy was everywhere and oddly enough there the entire time to watch me get the Colorado burger all over my face. I went through a napkin and crumbled it on the counter, he grabbed it. An empty cup was sat down for not even two seconds, he was on it. It was weird. What wasn’t weird was the burger, it was different but absolutely delectable. The only turn off about Little H Burger (besides the creepy busboy) was that the burgers are around $ 10. Since they were tasty, I can justify putting down 10 bones especially when fries are included but this will definitely be a once in a while spot to visit for me.

A streamlined, no frills counter service version of the LoDo burger bistro. Nicely done.
At the LoDo restaurant the presentation is more «fine dining» with china table wear and cloth napkins. At Little hBurger, they forgo that presentation for a burger basket that contains the fries. Paper napkins and standard take out cups or a plastic Coke tumbler are used for dining in. The interior is consistent with the style of the LoDo version; clean lines, stark contrast between whites and blacks, and large screen TV’s tuned to sports shows. There is a little section of outdoor seating that I could see becoming a bit of a «scene» next spring. The small strip-​mall style space is augmented positively by a rollup door that gives the entire space an al fresco feel. Perfect for Denver’s many sunny days.
The quality of the food is up to the original restaurant’s standards. Burger temps were correct and the french fries were a natural cut fried to perfection. The tables and all surfaces were clean, as were the restrooms. I welcome Little hBurger to the neighborhood and I would recommend trying them.

11 08 12… just revisited my review and see negative comments about service and food having gone downhill… too bad, and can’t believe ownership would let that happen? My review below was shortly after they opened… like the first or second week?
I left my hotel in Aurora, 15 minutes away, and was actually on my way to Cricket Burger, a notable sit-​down burger restaurant in the Cherry Creek «village mall» experience. I couldn’t find parking, got frustrated, and on the way back to the hotel, ended up at Little H-​Burger only because I remembered passing it on my way to Cricket. I’m glad I did. I’d flown into Denver from Orange County earlier in the day, hadn’t eaten since breakfast, and I wanted a good burger for dinner. Thankfully, things worked out in my favor.
This is an «order and pay at the counter» burger model, but with upscale burgers. You get a table, and then get found by an H-​Burger specialist. I ordered the Famous H-​Burger, rare to medium rare, which comes with regular fries. That’s $ 10 on its own. I also ordered sweet potato fries, and the Nutella shake. Add two more $ 4 items.
Burger was very good for a «flat-​top» cooked burger. And with credit to H, it actually was rare! You can only do that if you use quality beef. They do. The regular fries, and sweet potato fries were good. The shake was «very good.» It actually came topped off with mini-​marshmellows that were «fired» by a kitchen torch… nice touch and like eating smores, I really liked the added smokey texture.
Why would I return to Little H-​Burger? It’s a fast service, high-​quality burger joint. They’re generous with their portions, and if I’m going to give up my appetite to a burger meal… give me quality before low price. And frankly, for the 100% Angus burger they served me, my ticket of $ 18 with the extra sweet potato fries and shake, was fair. As I understand it, you can get out for $ 10 or less if you order one of their regular burgers.
Overall, this is an «As-​promised» burger experience. And frankly, if you’re on a diet… just do the burger and the shake; skip the fries… Oh sure Al, that’ll cut the calories like a Samuri Sword through a Jello-​mold… totally. Any more boogus diet tips??? … Didn’t think so! (don’t mind me… just thinkin’ out loud and weighing my options is all…) :-)

This is one of the few cases where the sequel may be better than the original. I love H Burger’s food but, I don’t really like the downtown location. Why? The parking downtown, a lot of the Lodo crowd that filters in, and the service is hit or miss. So I was thrilled to find out that they were opening a Colorado Blvd location. When I found out it was a fast casual eatery I was thrilled even more!
I went today to have a late lunch and I ordered a 5 oz Standard Burger with cheddar and bacon, fries and Diet Coke. The ordering system is the same as Smashburger et al. You place your order at the counter, pay for it, get a number and to take it to the table.
Pricing is about the same as their downtown location. I paid $ 11 and some change which is about the same, maybe a little more as I would at Smashburger or Larkburger,. My meal was out in under 10 minutes and it was delicious, just as good as the LoDo location without the fuss.
My meal was delish: a juicy burger with big strips of bacon, and that big buttery bun. The fries were also tasty and fresh. Perhaps my only complaint is that burgers aren’t made to order, the lowest they will go is medium and I prefer my burgers medium rare. However this is common at most burger places. With that said when I chatted with one of the employees she said if I mention it next time at the cash register, they can make accommodations.
The employee also told me they have been mobbed since they opened on October 20^th with both the medical professionals in the area and the families that live in the neighborhood. I’m not surprised as it’s a great addition to that side of town. I’ll certainly return!
