History

Established in 1969.

Leonard Automatics was founded by Len Frushtick in 1969. At the time, the company was located in Charlotte, North Carolina. His son, Jeff Frushtick, began working with his father during his summers and weekends in 1972 helping to install new tunnel finishers and to rebuild machines.

Jeff joined Leonard Automatics full time two years after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980. Initially starting in sales, he later worked in engineering, creating many of the designs and machines Leonard offers today. In 1994 Jeff became President of Leonard and two years later purchased the company.

Since that time, Leonard Automatics has grown tremendously. We have assembled some of the most experienced people in the industry with over 75 years experience in the laundry, garment and heat treatment industries.

Jeff F.

Business Owner

Jeff embraced all aspects of the business and is responsible for the company’s growth into a recognized leader and innovator in the laundry and garment manufacturing industries. He continues to push the boundaries of garment finishing technology. He holds several U.S. patents for innovations for tunnel finishing and allied products.

He has also been very active in the industry’s associations. Jeff has served on committees for UTSA and on the board of directors for TRSA, and on the Board of Directors for TCATA. He was honored in 2005 when awarded the prestigious James A. Biggie Award, and in 2012 when he received the Maglin/​Biggie Associate Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jeff has a lifetime of experience in garment finishing in both the laundry and manufacturing industries. Jeff has innovated features in tunnel finishers that have now become industry standards and continues to improve the process. His years of experience is unmatched in the industry.
