La Quinta Inn & Suites Denver Gateway Park

Safe enough neighborhood l, nice enough hotel, parking lot lit up enough… But, there is always something unnerving about a police officer in plain clothes walking in to your hotel to review security camera footage when you’re checking in. Aside from that, the major complaint is that they built this hotel in the same crappy fashion they are building them all. You can hear all noise from the hall in your room. Doors bang shut until late and that banging would wake your dead grandma. Dogs barking and howling left unattended. Skip this place.

I have stayed at this location while traveling across the country. Always was a great Hotel. No more. Franchise has ruined a great stop for me. Going down quickly. AVOID! Switching to Holiday Inn next door. Brand new place and the AC works

This was my first trip to Denver, so figuring out where to stay was tricky. I didn’t want an «airport» hotel, but I did want to be able to get to my flight without crawling through a lot of traffic. I picked this La Quinta strictly based on location and price. It turned out to be an excellent choice.
The staff members at the desk were quick and professional. When I needed to find a store, the woman helped me with clear directions.
The coffee in the morning was pretty good; I guess they took one Unilocaler’s complaint about the powdered cream seriously. There was a bottle of half and half waiting. That was nice. The breakfast was nothing to write home about, but the eggs were fine and it’s FREE, folks, so in this case you get more than you paid for.
My room was clean and spacious. I was on the fourth floor and the water pressure in the shower sometimes fluctuated a little, but at least I didn’t have to wait forever for the hot water to make its way up.
As far as location goes, I don’t know what people are complaining about. I was by myself and felt perfectly safe walking around at night. If working people who speak Spanish are somehow scary, then I guess it’s a scary neighborhood.
All in all, this La Quinta was perfect for I wanted out of my hotel for this trip.

Hotel is a great location. Very clean outside and very clean inside. Staff are friendly and helpful. Outside of hotel is beautiful & then you walk into this big open wonderful lobby. Swimming pool & Holub are good. Kids had fun. Parking is very easy and there is a delicious Mexican food restaurant next door. Just walk right to it. Very good food. Very close to University Hospital only about 2 miles. I look forward to booking with them again.

I can’t complain about anything here. They are polite and professional. The rooms are clean and well kept. They offer a breakfast, more than just a slice of bread. Is definitely stay again.

Overview: The La Quinta Gateway Park in Denver, CO is an excellent 2.5 star class hotel located almost immediately north of the I-​70 freeway of the Peoria exit. It is beautifully decorated, beautifully furnished hotel with rates around $ 150/​night on non-​peak days. Pets are free, WiFi is free.
The Room: ⁵⁄₅. With absolutely no odors, a sofa, two chairs, a king sized bed, microwave, refrigerator (without adjustable temperature), flat screen TV (without a digital guide unfortunately), a quiet, huge window A/​C, and a large window, I had absolutely no complaints. The front door is ridiculously heavy but hey, it keeps the sound out.
The Service: ¹⁄₅. While I did not order room service, we were next to a couple who told the front-​desk that her room smelled of smoke (even though it’s supposed to be a non-​smoking hotel) and the front-​desk woman did not move her. The woman at the front desk dismissed the couple and said that «the entire hotel is non-​smoking»… as if that magically stopped selfish a**holes from smoking in their rooms. I thought that response was unacceptable and thus why I give them ¹⁄₅ for service.
The Bathroom: ⁴⁄₅. It’s a well laid out bathroom with plenty of room for toiletries and a clean tile layout. Plenty of towels that are medium-​soft. There only one very minor problem about this bathroom and that is the extreme water pressure of the bathroom faucet. It’s a spray-​type faucet rather than a standard flow one, but the water pressure is very high, thus you have to really finesse the handle to not make a mess.
Amenities: ⁵⁄₅. There is a pleasant and usually non-​crowded indoor pool (5 feet deep and about 20 feet long) and hot tub (maybe 4 ft deep and 5 ft wide) with complimentary towels. I believe I saw self-​serve laundry machines with cost a little less than $ 2 for washing or drying. From 6−10AM there is a wonderful breakfast consisting of eggs, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, sausage, juice, apples, coffee, and a TV with the morning news. There is an exercise room that I did not use, but it was fairly small with maybe 4 – 5 machines.
Location: ³⁄₅. While the neighborhood it is located in isn’t very posh (lots of potholes, some shady looking people walking around), it is located immediately north of Aurora, and immediately next to the I-​70 freeway so driving to destinations is very easy. In addition it has a Mexican restaurant in the same plaza that some of the other Unilocalers below have enjoyed. For coffee lovers, it’s located across the street from a Starbucks.
Conclusion: The La Quinta Gateway in Denver is the nicest La Quinta (out of 5) I have stayed in with a higher-​than-​normal price to match. While the location could have been slightly better, with a car I felt that it was still a great location to drive to Aurora. I would certainly book this hotel again in an instant. The only reason that I give it 4-​stars rather than 5 is because of the customer service I witnessed when a woman complained about the smell of smoke in her room only to have the front-​desk woman dismiss her concern.

Updating my review here. I stayed a second night. The hotel was packed. I went down for breakfast at 6. The dining room was packed to the gill. The hot food was all gone. And a line of 8 people just waiting for waffles. There wasn’t anybody tending the food area to refill the food. So I left I’ll be buying breakfast somewhere. So just expect chaos if you’re one of those people who is willing to wait for a free breakfast.

Hotel is comfortable but the management needs to learn customer service. I would spend a little extra elsewhere in the area. Plenty of hotels to choose from.

On the 6^th of February I checked in to this «La Quinta» hotel.
My purpose for traveling was to pick up my nephew and his girlfriend that were flying into Denver; I live out of state. Norma the lady working the front desk was very nice, professional and helpful. After much consideration I chose this hotel because it allowed pets, I brought my recently rescued dog «Hermes» with me, and it’s proximity to the Denver airport. The room was clean, large and the bed was very comfortable, indeed I would stay there again just for the bed.
As commented by some others reviewers the neighborhood is not that great, but the area around the hotel is very safe. While there, I stayed at the hotel from the 6−8^th, I routinely walked Hermes late at night and in the early morning hours without any problems.
The hotel has a good sized swimming pool and an adequate workout facility/​gym, with several treadmills and a universal type weight lifting machine…
By the way the breakfast was also very good.
The next time that I’m in Denver I will stay at La Quinta, if not this one on Peoria Street, then another La Quinta.
If you choose to stay at the hotel ask for Norma, she’s the best! and she will take good care of you!

I chose this hotel based on the reviews. I don’t know what people are talking about. This hotel was not worth $ 100 plus stay for a Saturday night. The room was a little small. The location was surrounded by truck stops. The building is a little old. The breakfast area is decent. The doggy area is also gross. No one seems to pick up after their dogs.
Only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 is because there is a Mexican restaurant next to the parking lot. Which is a 30 second walk. FYI, the food is decent but over priced. The drinks however are worth the walk.

What? Powdered creamer?
I needed a hotel that was close to the Denver airport without the long drive into no-man’s land between meetings in Denver and the airport. So, Peoria Street seemed like a good compromise. On landing in Denver, I stayed at less expensive hotel across the street. On returning to Denver a week later for my outbound flight, I decided to do a comparison, and chose La Quinta Inn.
I noticed that others have called this a «bad neighborhood.» I only saw it after dark, but if a lot of Seven Elevens and shops with signs in Spanish make it a bad neighborhood, I guess it is. But, the area is tidy, a sure sign that someone cares about it — not a bad neighborhood, in my book. And, I had to go to a Seven Eleven for cream because La Quinta has powdered creamer. The staff at these stores were friendly, but professional. I felt like I could walk to my car without a safety issue.
The room was newer, but smaller than at the hotel across the street. Like the hotel across the street, they had a large shower, instead of a tub/​shower. The glasses were plastic. The hotel across the street has glass.
As a nice, final touch, I really appreciate the fact that the staff let me use the Business Center for an hour after checkout before I had to head out for a meeting. Otherwise, it would be three stars for powdered creamer.

Good, clean room. Friendly staff. No complaints. The room I was in had a nice, big bathroom with a large walk-​in shower.

Used the app to get a king suite, went to check– in and that room was no longer available! Front desk lady offered us a two Queen room for more then the suite was. There was no way we would pay close to $ 149 a night for this hotel in this bad area. So we used Priceline and got the Marriott Denver Airport 2 miles away for $ 90 a night. Much better area then Laquinta area.

I typically expect a decent stay at the la Quinta but this one sucks. After I was given a key to someone else’s room I had the pleasure of walking in on them while they were taking a shit. When I went back to see the special ed lady at the front desk she told me «it’s ok I will give u a double queen room». As if this was a upgrade from my king bed. This place sucks. The holiday in is just accost the parking lot. Stay there.

We randomly stopped at this place on our way back from a road trip and I was fairly glad we did. My first time staying at a La Quinta Inn & Suites. The king size room suite was spacious with fast & free internet. The bed was actually comfortable. The staff were all super nice. AND! They have warm breakfast in the morning that was actually pretty good! Would stay again. =)

This was a decent hotel, but there were two things we didn’t enjoy: 1. The neighborhood left much to be desired. It was near a trucking parking lot, so creepy semis were parked all over the street at night, which didn’t feel sale.
And 2. The walls were REALLY thin. We could hear everything in the rooms around us, including a barking dog and a few rooms with at least 6 screaming/​running-​down-​the-​hall children. The employees at all times were friendly and helpful. They accommodated us by moving us to a different floor for our remaining two nights.
Our bed was heavenly and we got great sleep each night. The room was a little small but we only spent 8 hours in it every night and we were sleeping during that time.
The Wi-​Fi completely sucked. I was stoked because all the Unilocal reviews raved about it… but it disconnected constantly and when it was connected, it was slower than my VZW 3g cell phone internet. My guess is there were a LOT of people using the Wi-​Fi while we were there.
The complimentary breakfast was disappointing… their toasters took 10 minutes to toast an English muffin, and it was still lighter than I’d like! Additionally, their only fresh fruit offering were apples, no oranges or bananas. It was good for what it was, but I’ve had WAY better free breakfasts in this price range.
The hotel is super-​close to I-​70, which is the main highway we used to get everywhere we visited. Convenient location, while still being a creepy location. Jake and I may stay again, but only if we could find the same deal we got for this trip ($ 75/​night). Otherwise, we’d pay a bit more to be downtown instead.

Good Solid hotel. I stay here for business all the time… reasonable price alternative to Denver Airport hotels easy to get to from airport… Ajuua mexican restaurant in the front… amazing… only catch is… dont miss dinner round here… next closest late dining is 10 min away

Brand new hotel (or so it feels) but still getting it’s legs under it.
We got the king executive suite because it $ 3 more than a regular room. The thing was huge and had the feel that we were the first ones in it.
The bed was very comfy, the flat screen tv viewable from the bed and the couch areas. The bathroom was very nicely decorated giving a at-​home feel. The hotel-​wide WiFi has no passwords so quick to get on and is pretty quick (2.5 Mbps download)
Staff seems helpful (no major issues for them to fix), business center has a printer, the hotel is dog-​friendly (no fee), and the free breakfast is nice (eggs and sausage in addition to the waffles/​cereal/​bagels).
Pool looked nice and the small gym was adequate. Laundry and soda machines on each floor.
Some ways to excel: put the suitcase holder/​rack in the room and put the doggy poop bags outside

I recently stayed at this BRAND NEW and gorgeous La Quinta Inn & Suites right off of I-​70 near DIA. If you want a hotel close the airport, this is a great find! I was there for 3 days for a nearby conference in Denver, and was very impressed with the service and decór. I loved the smart business/​laptop bar with outlets that they had in the dining area, I had never seen that before… very clever and just like a modern coffee shop!
The rooms were lovely with pillow top mattresses and big flat screen TVs. I slept quite well, and found the hotel to be very quiet. The close proximity to DIA and great value make this a winner for business travelers and visiting families too. La Quinta has really done a fantastic job remaking their brand, and I am now a member of their loyalty program too, «LaQuinta Returns.» I look forward to earning points with them toward free stays. They are certainly giving Marriott a run for their money! In fact, I now prefer La Quinta over Marriott or Best Western for business travel.
