Joel Russman Attorney At Law

I have been a client of Joel’s for 4 years now and I am so lucky to have him as my attorney! I learned the hard way that spending the money in the beginning of a business making sure operating agreements and leases cover all your concerns is better than fighting about it in the end. No one wants to go to court but we had to go twice. Both times we came out on top and I was able to collect the money owed to me. Thanks Joel! Keep up the good work.

I first visited Joel in 2010 when a business relationship became very difficult for me to remain in. He gave me a lot of free advise, which surprised me greatly knowing lawyers. I then went back to Joel after speaking with 3 other lawyers and feeling most comfortable with his demeanor and confidence. Through a lengthy case spanning almost four years, Joel not only led me in the right direction and path on the case he was handling for me, but also offered guidance and consultation on a number of other topics. The case Joel handled for me was resolved with great success in my eyes. I not only look at Joel as a great legal console, but as a business partner in some senses as well as a friend. I’m happy to hear from him always and though I hope I don’t need him often, I appreciate that he is there when I need him. Thank you Joel!

It’s tough enough when your former business partner robs you, but it gets even worse when you hire Joel Russman to represent you. He has very little knowledge of the law, only enough it seems to use strong-​arm tactics to overbill his own clients. The overbilling would not be an issue if he ever actually accomplished anything. I’m not sure if it’s unwillingness or incompetence but either way nothing was accomplished on the case for which I hired and paid him handsomely. He is very condescending to his clients and again this would be fine if he knew what he was talking about but regretfully he does not. Run as far as you can from Joel Russman if you’re looking for a good lawyer.

I wouldn’t hire Joel again. He does not represent his client’s best interests, he represents his own. I’ll be brief, but my grievances with him include:
1) I was billed incorrectly — a lot.
a. Of the 33 times I was billed for emails, 11 of them never occurred.
b. I was billed for other client’s cases.
c. Work done by his paralegal was billed as work done by him.
2) He is unprofessional.
a. When I told him I preferred to have him settle my case rather than keep paying him, he told me «I don’t need you as a client.»
b. He left a message on one of my witness’ answering machines for me with sensitive information about my case (after it was settled).
3) As an attorney, he’s mediocre at best. His knowledge of the law isn’t impressive, especially regarding business law.
4) He is unable or rather just unwilling to make cost-​benefit suggestions regarding your case.
