For this place, I hate to give it such a low rating because the service was actually really good. But the food was awful :( The buffet was a bit overpriced for what was available; it was really small. Just one short line of a few random dishes. And nothing too fancy. The only dessert options were rice pudding and a mango soup-type dish. I had to actually ask where they were because they were so close to the salad on the salad bar and hidden that I mistook them for containers of salad dressing. When we first got there, I went straight for the rice. I love rice. But this rice was so hard, you could hear the«tink» as it hit the ceramic plate. Right as I was about to be disgusted, a lady came dashing from the back with a fresh container of rice and placed it on our table as she simultaneously warned me about the rice I had just gotten from the bar. She clearly knew beforehand how old the rice on the buffet was, but chose not to do anything about it. Unacceptable. The wine was a bit expensive, too. $ 7.50 for a glass of old Shiraz. And by old I mean it tasted like the bottle had been open for a while, or stored improperly. A shame, really. Because like I said, the service was actually good. But not good enough to make me return :(And the bit about the floor being so sticky, your shoes stick to it is true. I thought I had gum on my heels when my friend and I first walked in, but it was really just my feet getting stuck to the floor! Yuck!

I was hesitant to try this place out because of the negative reviews– but I purchased a groupon and gave it a shot. We arrived at 7PM on a Thursday. The restaurant itself was completely empty– apart from one very polite waiter. I was a little sad that there were signs advertising bogo beers everywhere– but they only had 2 kinds in stock. I didn’t hate the flying horse 40 oz lager that was available– but would have loved more of a variety. //My significant other ordered a mango lassi– it was huge and sweet and DELISH! Ordered the vegetable samosa for our appetizer and it was crispy and filled with curry potato love. For my entrée I ordered the lamb biryani at medium spice– it was absolutely delicious! My lamb was tender and plentiful, the rice was sweet and spicy and had a rich red color. My boyfriend ordered the lamb tikka masala– his lamb was lacking in portion, and what was present was grisly and overcooked, but the masala sauce was flavorful and a great vehicle for our garlic naan. We didn’t hate it. We ordered a side of Achaar(Indian pickle) and there was a nice combination(and portion) of salty tart goodness. We took our leftovers to go. I don’t understand the bad reviews. I never take the time to write reviews but was taken aback by how opposite our experience was. This isn’t fine dining– it’s a no frills, authentic Indian dining experience close by at a reasonable price. We’ll be back.

Overall, my wife and I like this place but there are a couple of areas for improvement. My wife ordered the Chicken Vindaloo and I ordered Begum Bahar Masala. As an appetizer we ordered some Naan. Our waiter didn’t ask us if we wanted the Naan before dinner and we automatically expected it would come before the meal(as in many restaurants that give bread prior to the meal). We had to alert him that we wanted it before the entrees were served and he promptly complied, but by then we got the entrée only a couple of minutes or so after the bread came. The Naan was very good, though. My wife asked for medium spicy vindaloo. Normally, from the Indian restaurants we’ve eaten at the vindaloo is traditionally very spicy. So, by noting she wanted it medium spicy it was anticipated that it would still be spicy but toned down a bit. Well, it was toned down so much that the sauce almost tasted bland. She actually requested a salt shaker for her dish. My lamb was a bit overcooked as it was a little tough to eat and should have been more tender than it was. Otherwise, my dish was fine and very tasty.

Despite the awful reviews I ordered anyway, because I wanted affordable Indian food in my bed asap. The samosas were by far some of the best I’ve had. And they were huge!(And free) The tiki masala was thick, creamy and flavorful despite other reviews claiming it was watery and bland. And all of the naan was cooked to perfection. I’ll be ordering again soon.

This place was disgusting and has gone DOWNHILL. This place used to be amazing now the food is dry and tasteless. And down right gross. I wouldnt even feed it to my dog. The rice was hard, nann bread wasnt cooked, samosas tasted like rotten eggs. Also it was 2 oclock and the was almost out of food and no cooks in the back to make more«thats what the waitress told us» the place is really dirty. My boot almost came off from being stuck to their carpet and the doors and table cloths were filthy. I Will NEVER come back… giving them even 1 star is a big stretch

This is a pretty typical Indian place, complete with obligatory lunch buffet and gigantic dinner menu. It’s been here for quite a long time, so they’re obviously doing well enough to stay around, despite the CU medical center moving away from that neighborhood and taking a lot of potential business with it. I recently went back here after several years, and it was still pretty decent. I wouldn’t say it’s the best in town but certainly you can do a lot worse. The location right on Colorado Boulevard and the smallish parking lot is a challenge, but at least there is one. If you’re in the area it’s worth a stop here, because the menu is so enormous you will easily find something you like. They get bonus points for offering a mild/medium/hot option for each dish, which is really useful if you want a certain flavor but not at the usual spice level for that dish. Hard to please everyone, but they certainly try.

These guys have horrendous service, although the food used to be very good, they have gone down hill. What a shame.

This is my favorite Indian place in Denver. I’ve been here twice and the chicken tikka is tough to beat. Add naan and you’ve got a great meal.

This place has definitely gone downhill. I at here about a year ago and the lunch buffet was ok. Today was a completely different story. The food was bland, watered down and two of the hot dishes I selected from the buffet were completely cold. The salad was brown and the tomatoes soggy, it seemed like it was a few days old and the chicken in the tika masala was super dry. On the plus side, the service was excellent our waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgable and the restaurant was clean. Unfortunately the food just want good enough for me to come back again.

I tried to pick up a late lunch here. It was about 2:30pm and I have always wanted to try this restaurant. I wasn’t in a rush so I thought I’d sit down and have a pleasant meal. I hadn’t even opened the door when the door was opened by a young man telling me they were closed. I pointed out to him that the sign said they closed for lunch at 3pm. He shrugged and stated that they had been slow so everything was pulled off the buffet. He didn’t actually bother to ask me if I wanted the buffet, which I didn’t, I have a strict«no buffet» rule. He just said«we’re closed». So I turned around and as I was getting back to my car a woman popped her head out and offered to let me order food to go. I declined since they obviously weren’t interested enough in me initially to even try to help me. I can’t even review the food but I can assure you I will not be going back.

We bought a groupon for India Express and finally ended up using it. Honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment. We arrived around 1:30 in the afternoon and the restaurant was fairly empty. My husband and I each got the lunch buffet, as it seemed like the easiest/fastest option. There wasn’t a ton to choose from, and most of it was very poor quality. The server was nice, but absent most of our time there. Bottom line: you can get far better Indian food at other restaurants.

Purchased a Groupon but could not use it on the lunch buffet. Not mentioned in the fine print. We were the 1st customers of the day. Service was odd. Had to get up and ask for menus. Flies were ALL over this place and annoyed us through our entire meal. They need to do something about that. The food was great but even their medium is hot. We were both sweating. The guy next to us had a dead fly in his water. Yikes. If it wasn’t for the flies I would have given it 4 stars.

Disgusting. Worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten and they couldn’t care less. Inedible. Literally every single thing. Horrendous. At this point a win out of this experience is if i don’t get food poisoning and die. For the love of food and India please go bankrupt. Shameful.

Do not bother. It’s really bad. I should have read more reviews before ordering delivery, but I was hungry and they were close. Totally flavorless. The chicken makhani was pink… It looked like puréed raw meat. I could actually taste the food coloring. Sag paneer was pale and thin and soupy. I’ll say the samosas were ok… But the chutneys were not. The kheer was actually pretty good but not good enough to make up for an otherwise awful meal. I never do this, but I called for a refund and they offered to give me a free order of saag paneer and chicken makhani. No thanks.

Being new to the Denver area, i was very excited to find an Indian restaurant that would deliver to my work. I told the ladies in my office lunch was on me today and we placed an order Via Grub Hub. The Service was fast i will give them that. The food was here hot and fresh in 50 minutes. We ordered Coconut chicken, Chicken Curry, and Chicken Tiki Masala. Everything was perfect and smelled so good until i opened my Chicken Tiki Masala. The«tomato cream» base was more like soup. I always order the same item as it is my favorite. I understand different places will cook it differently. Never have i eaten a Masala that was more like a water base then tomato. I called the restaurant 3 times with no answer so i turned to Grubhub to correct this mistake. Initially the representative was told that i would receive a replacement Chicken tiki masala and they would ensure that they thickened the sauce. 1 hour goes by and i am sitting here waiting to eat lunch while the other ladies have finished. I call again and this is what really gets me. GrubHub stated that the Manager at this restaurant said, «everybody loves our masala and we actually decided that we will not send another. If they don’t like it, don’t eat it.» «Why didn’t you call us or the customer and let us know?» «I am busy, goodbye.» Hung up on the Grubhub Rep. WOW~! I work in customer service and if i ever treated a customer like that i would be terminated immediately. The fact that they are too busy to even pick up a phone and call, shows the lack of any respect for their customers. I am pretty sure they just added chicken to the tomato soup on their menu and sent it out. They must not have any Chicken Tiki Masala Made which is why they wont fix the mistake. Grubhub gets the credit here for at least refunding me my portion of the lunch. I will NOT be ordering from here again and i will NOT recommend them. Maybe its good for a quick lunch if you don’t care what your eating, but if you have a preference, be prepared to be disappointed.

This place has a bad rap, and I am not sure why. Seriously. They have a great all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, that is only $ 9, and they have two for one select beers all day. And get this, you can fill up a pretty hefty to-go container with your hearts desire for the same price as the sit down buffet. There is definitely some love in the food, and I want more and more of it. I cannot speak of the takeout/delivery and probably never will, because the buffet is not only the most affordable, but has a great variety of items to choose from. We went for late lunch, the lunch buffet runs until 3pm, so we were just 2 of 5 customers. The service was just fine, very laid back but prompt. Just buy the Groupon already and give this place a lunch of a chance.

You will enter into a smokey haze and you will leave with your clothes reeking of a smokey Indian food smell. With less than half the available capacity, it took 10 minutes just to order and about 20 minutes to get our meal. This place is not consistent at all. Neither is the food output. Ask for mild, get hot. Ask for hot, get medium. Instead of telling you that they are out of something, they just randomly replace it for you. Too bad if that’s not what you wanted. Sometimes things are overcooked, and sometimes under. Sometimes the Samosas are the best I’ve ever had and other times it’s like it was taken out of a box and microwaved. Sometimes the servers are very attentive and sometimes its 20 minutes without a water refill. They have a 2 for 1 beer sign at each table with 6 beer options listed, BUT they only ever have 2 of the 6 beer on hand. A huge complaint is that the curtains in the front windows smell horrible(much like what you will smell like upon leaving). The curtains also have dirt and old food stains on them. I have had a few good meals here but the consistency is a huge problem. I cannot trust that it will be a good experience for me to return. Management, PLEASE take those curtains down! I will not return until I can see that the curtains have been removed.

This review is based on the buffet: I broke rule #1 by not checking Unilocal in advance of walking in here. However, I was hungry and took a chance. The whole premise of Indian food is to enjoy the multiple explosion of flavoring and spices beginning with the letter C… Curry, cumin, Coriander, Cardamom, etc. Well, the chef must of bypassed every ingredient because every dish was bland, watery, and flavorless. It was like eating frozen entrée passed the expiration date. The bread came out of the kitchen served cold, Beef curry = water soup, and the Raita dressing tasted like Ranch. Fortunately, the buffet was only $ 10 so it wasn’t a huge financial loss. What was good you ask? The owner(older male) was very nice and the Samosa was mostly edible.

This place was pretty good! We had a groupon here and had to use it. After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned and dreading using our groupon. I was pleasantly surprised! The Saag Paneer was really good! We ordered it medium and it was spicy! The paneer was a little dry but I still enjoyed it. The tandoori chicken was good but a little dry. I’m not sure if I’d eat there again but that’s only because it isn’t convenient to my location.

I’m not really sure why the reviews for this restaurant are so bad. My husband and I went tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Husband had the chicken tikka masala($ 12.99) and I had the shrimp karahi($ 13.99). The chicken tikka masala was creamy and delicious. The shrimp karahi had large shrimp and fresh onions, peppers and tomatoes. The customer service was stellar. We actually had an expired LivingSocial deal and the manager was willing to work with us to still redeem it. Again, I’m not really sure why the reviews were so bad, but we’ll be back!
