Fantastic show or 10÷16÷15!!! (yeah… I’m a little late reviewing, oops!)
I had the pleasure of receiving two free tickets from Unilocal,which meant I could pay back my friend who took me to see Book of Mormon. :D
Idina Menzel is absolutely stunning, and I loved the story of diverging plots from a single decision, even if it has been done before. My friend found the story hard to understand, and didn’t realize until halfway through what had happened. It would definitely be easier if the two male leads were more distinguiqshable from the balcony!!!
Always a treat to enjoy the theatre scene in Denver. Looking forward to the possibility of more Unilocal tickets in 2016!!!

The musical was great, though the plot was a little frenetic at times, switching back between the two possibilities. Amazing singing by Idina Menzel and the co-​stars, and my companion and I left with smiles on our faces.

This was a great musical. I love the trend in pop culture that is exhibiting strong female leads. The story is particularly suited to anyone that feels they are at a cross roads in life and feels like the choices they make are forcing them to choose between their personal and professional lives.
The tunes are catchy and fortunately, Idina Mendel is the lead for the first 5 cities and Denver is one of them!!! I saw the musical about a week ago and since them have been happily humming along to the tunes and can’t seem to get «What the fuck» out of my head when something comes up in my personal life now.
I thought that the staging, props, and costumes were very well put together. Although I appreciated the simple choreography associated with the musical, I thought there were points it got a little busy and distracted me from the main event. If that’s the worst I can say, it must be pretty good!

This is one of those Unilocal events that really reminds me why it’s NEAT TO BE ELITE! Two complimentary tickets to see Idina Menzel live just for posting my opinions and pictures of food onto the internet?! Sign me up!
My date and I arrived first and got our free tickets but the rest of our party didn’t show up yet. When they finally arrived, the staff was very accommodating and switched our tickets so our whole party could sit together. Though they weren’t the best seats, (balcony in the way back), I had no complaints since the tickets were free and it was only the 3^rd day since the musical started its tour in Denver. The auditorium was packed and Idina Menzel’s voice is even better in person than in a Disney movie. I fell in love with her =) Thank you Unilocal Denver for letting me and my friends experience such a beautiful and lovely night.

I was so excited to get last-​minute free tickets to this show (thank you Unilocal!!!), and I decided to bring my mom — we both have musical theater backgrounds so we were excited to see this show with so much of the original Broadway principal cast!
While it was very cool to see Idina Menzel perform live, I have to admit I didn’t love the show. I did like it, but there were elements that made the entire concept even harder to follow than it already was. Primarily, the casting of Josh and Lucas — they did not look different enough to me (similar height, hair, and build) so I (and my mom) had trouble differentiating the two different storylines, because I couldn’t immediately tell who was on stage (it didn’t help that our seats were in the wayyyyyy back); even their clothing styles were fairly similar, which I think is a miss on the part of the costume designer. It would have been a lot more enjoyable if I wasn’t constantly trying to figure out which guy was on stage!
And as incredible as Idina Menzel’s huge voice is, I really don’t love her lower singing register, which to me sounds nasily and doesn’t have as much diction as her upper register. And she accessed this register quite frequently during parts of songs where the notes were lower and it was as much story-​telling as singing — so I had some trouble understanding many of her sung lines.
Aside from those things that detracted from the show for me, the entire cast was very talented, many of the songs were fun (not all were great), and it was enjoyable overall. I especially liked the way they wrapped up the storylines, as I was wondering the whole time how they would do that. I probably would have given it 4 stars just for the entire experience, but I have to admit that if I had paid for my tickets, I would not have been as enthusiastic just since I didn’t love it.
But huge thanks again to Unilocal for the free tix! It was a great time out with my mom.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect of the show, but I am so glad that I didn’t have any expectations. My husband and I really enjoy plays and musicals so this was definitely up our alley. Our seats were fantastic in Orchestra C!
It was a great musical that seemed to be a twist on the Family Man movie with Nicholas Cage, but this was much more enjoyable and heartfelt! I think that many can relate to the «What ifs» in life, so this is definitely a universal play.

I always find Musicals an added bonus when I’m fortunate enough to see them live. Thank you Unilocal for the opportunity to expand my horizons.
I can honestly say I walked into the theatre not knowing anything about If/​Then. It’s a new Musical with all new music and an unfamiliar story line to most.
Denver is incredibly lucky to the have the original cast for the performance. As most everyone has mentioned Idina Menzel is a one of a kind talent. Her voice is strong, clear and boy can she belt out the notes. The entire cast is pretty special, that alone is worth going to the show.
The story line was okay. A bit cliché at times and felt as though they were trying to fit too much into one show. I found the constant switching between paths a bit confusing. This would likely be easier to follow if you had a close view of the stage to see the wardrobe changes — anyone sitting outside the orchestra section of the Buell Theater would likely have difficulties following the story in some parts.
The show did hook me in the end and I will gladly admit that there were tears flowing down my cheeks by the end of the show, parts of the story line really hit home for me. A favorite song of mine was the WTF right before intermission, needless to say this is not meant for young kids (profanity is used throughout).
It’s a good present day musical and I would gladly recommend it to someone who enjoys theatre.

How fortunate was I to have been able to see Idina Mendez live at a Broadway musical, FOR FREE??? It was a lucky day indeed, as I anxiously awaited to get off the waiting list and a miracle happened. I got in! Ended up being really early because I was much to excited. I’m so grateful that Unilocal and Frances got tickets for me to go!
Idina was phenomenal although there were times she got a little too nasally for me. She has such an amazing range and I was awed most of the time. I thought the plot was great and I thought the musical was written well. I know some would disagree but it seems really relevant to my life right now. We make these choices and at the end of if there is no right or wrong. No matter which path you take, there will be ups and downs. Also, my friends and I always talk about the possibility of alternate dimensions based on the choices we make and how interesting that could be. I thought this musical did a fine job in the amount of time it was done in. Do I like all the characters? No. Were all the songs memorable? No. Did I still enjoy myself? HECK YES!

First of all, thank you to Unilocal and Frances G. for tickets to this event!
The bad news is the songs were forgettable, the plot was strange and the humor was cheesy. The good news is Idina Menzel’s incredible voice is worth hearing no matter what. I had chills every time she sang and as a huge huge RENT fan, it was so exciting to see Mark and Maureen on stage together live. I just wish the rest of the musical had been as good as Idina was.

I love when Unilocal does theater events. For one thing, we go often to Denver Performing Arts Center, and the experience through Unilocal lets us try out different seats and views of the theater. This time, we had great seats in Orchestra C, but in the back. I never realized it was stadium seating back there, and it was really great. I will look there when I buy tickets from here on out.
As for the play, I mean, how can you go wrong with Idina Menzel. It was so awesome to see one of Broadway’s biggest names here in Denver. She was incredible, and, overall, so were the rest of the cast. I was excited to think that they’d turned Sliding Doors into a musical, more or less, but I was disappointed that the plot itself was a little lack luster. Also, it felt like the dialogue and music was, at times, trying a little too hard to be funny/​witty/​edgy. I mean, then again, it is a musical about city planning for NYC… who thought that would be relevant for the general US population?
That being said, I am glad I got to go see this show. I always love seeing shows at the DACP. Thanks for organizing Frances!

The show itself, was kind of long… So by about 10pm, Friday night, my focus started to drift away. Mainly because the songs aren’t familiar and being a contemporary musical, there aren’t a lot of extravagant stage and prop changes. Idina Menzel looked really good, I have no idea why they counter intuitively decided to put her in a white shirt that made her look pregnant!
Everybody’s got a great voice in the show, but I don’t know if I’ve been watching too much Glee on TV or something lately where the soundtracks are perfected in a recording studio, so it was easy for my «trained» ears to sense the imperfections in some notes and tones, TOTALLY MY OWN BAD!
It was still a great way to end a work week though! Unilocal’s organizing for the event is a solid 5 stars. My 3.5-star rating is just the musical itself.

Awesome event! First time in this venue and first musical in Denver. AND it’s Idina Menzel! How lucky is that?!
I was impressed with her a while back (Frozen) but having to hear that powerful voice in person was such a treat!
The whole cast was amazing! The story line was funny, sad and probably an eye opening to some? I cried silently. It was touching and endearing at the same time. What a great plot! I wasn’t bored.
I was secretly hoping she would say «thank you for coming and here’s a treat for you guys» and then she would sing the Frozen favorite. Let it go… Let go!!! I can only dream.
Awesome venue. Comfortable seats. Great audio. Well organized. Staff were helpful, knowledgeable and guided us Unilocalers to our line. Drinks purchased outside of the Buell theater (Limelight) can be brought into the venue with a lid on it.
Thanks Frances and Unilocal for giving us the chance to once again enjoy something new and exciting in our new home state!

Jenn and I were wait-​listed– but somehow were selected and whoa am I thankful.
This was my first visit to the Buell Theater and I must admit it did impress. Spacious and modern– I’m looking forward to another opportunity to return.
If/​Then was also my first experience seeing a professional live Musical performance and I must admit It was amazing.
Okay I’ll admit I had never heard of any of the cast. I have never seen the Disney Frozen movie or any other work listed in the description– but knowing my girlfriend Jenn is a big fan of musicals I was wanting to go and see what it was all about firsthand.
After only a few minutes into the production I could tell Idina Menzel is a true talent.
This story of If/​Then as a very thought provoking look at the main character’s (Liz/​Beth) two courses of life based off of a decision at one moment in time. Brilliantly written and carried out by all the cast.
After looking it up– evidently the original Broadway cast is all on a National Tour– with DENVER being the first stop!
Wow.
This just keeps getting even more special.

Thanks to Unilocal for allowing my fiancée and I to see this show! This show wasn’t on my to see list although I am a huge fan of Broadway.
First off, with this being my first elite Broadway show, we didn’t know where to go for the ticket pickup. I asked one of the doormen who pointed me to will call, which then they pointed me to a «line». I walked around for a few more minutes til I finally saw a small media services sign next to the door with a long line.
From what I heard, the seats we were given weren’t the best for a Broadway elite event. Either way, I was happy to just be able to see idina Mendel in action!
Oh baby, the chops on that woman was ahhhhhh-​mazing!!! I liked the message of this play saying what if this happened, this could or would happen but eventually fate plays out. You really had to follow the story line because it switches between the what ifs so fluidly and quickly.
Unfortunately this wasn’t my favorite Broadway play, but still being to see Idina Mendel was everything.

I really enjoyed that show and it is certainly worth seeing. It is entertaining, funny and moving at times, and Idina Menzel“s performance is pure delight. The fact that the original Broadway cast is on this tour is also a treat.
I loved the clever set design and and the idea of the two parallel stories, even if it can be a little confusing at times.
But the story by itself felt a little superficial and caricatural to me. Did we really need to have a couple of lesbians get married and another couple of gay men tie the knot too? Nothing against the gay community, but this seems a little too much.
Still, I had a wonderful time last night, felt fortunate to have a chance to see this musical and definitively recommend it.

As a huge Broadway fan I was excited to be given the chance to see Idina Menzel and Anthony Rapp perform live (Thanks Unilocal!). While I had heard of If/​Then, I wasn’t that familiar with the show and wasn’t sure what to expect besides excellent singing from the stars. Having been to the Buell Theater man times I knew it would be the perfect venue for this performance.
Overall, the show was amazing, excellent story which is very relatable to many of us. It was a nice mixture of funny and cute moments mixed in with sad ones. Idina as expected was excellent, so glad I was able to see her. I really loved Anthony Rapp’s character, reminded me of his role in Rent.
The rest of the actors were great and I liked how the show is able to tell two different stories without it ever getting confusing for the audience. Definitely a must see show, plus people should take a advantage that this is one of the few rare chances people in Denver can see the original main cast of a Broadway show without having to visit NYC!

I can’t quite go four stars saying I’m a fan. I have to say it was three stars for A-​OK. While I LOVED Idina Menzel, the play was not one of my favorites. I get the premise, but it isn’t a theme I found particular compelling.
That said, it is worth seeing in order to see and hear Menzel. She truly is extraordinary.

When I saw advertising for this show, I became obsessed with checking my emails to see if Unilocal would be offering some free tickets. And am I ever so glad that I did. For those of you who are wondering why you’d bother trying to gain Elite status, here’s a great reason. When the DCPA has some extra tickets, they sometimes offer them to Unilocal… who offers them to us. For free. FREE.
If you don’t know who Idina Menzel is, you’re either not a fan of broadway at all, you’ve never had a crush on Taye Diggs, and/​or you don’t have children between the ages of 5 – 10 yo right now (hello? LET IT GO… let it go…). Her singing is flawless. Her comedic timing was impeccable. Most of the cast struggled to keep up with her chops (esp the men), but her sidekick Kate (played by LaChanze) was terrific too.
If you don’t know what the play/​musical is about, here’s the short and sweet of it. Woman (Elizabeth, played by Idina) moves from AZ to NYC after her divorce. Shortly after arriving, she is presented a seemingly inconsequential choice which could change the course of her life. Over the course of the play, they switch back and forth between what it would’ve looked like if she made this choice or that choice.

If/​Then was an amazing show! I feel like it really captures a lot of the uncertainty that folks feel in life and how there are many paths that can work out. I loved all the different story lines and how seamlessly they wove together. The final uncertainty of what actually happened was direct yet left subtly unfinished to keep you guessing. I had fun with all the Vassar references and enjoyed seeing the library on-​screen. It’s been a while since I’ve been back to my alma mater.
All of the actors were awesome and had such amazing vocal talent. I felt super lucky to get to hear Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel live. I’m curious as to how the book reads, as I imagine it gets even more into Liz’s head. James Snyder and LaChanze whom I was less familiar with were superb. They really played their parts well. I think I’d have a hard time disentangling them from their characters if I met them on the street.
The venue itself was beautiful. Some of the guests next to me mentioned concerns about acoustics in the past, but we all had a good spot for sound last night. All of the staff were super courteous and knowledgeable. I was excited to learn more about all of the upcoming shows and definitely look forward to coming back soon. Thanks for having us, DCPA! And kudos to Frances and the Unilocal Team for all your hard work with getting us tickets!
