Hotchkiss should be the first shop you call! Outstanding customer experience, with very knowledgeable and fair staff! A Saturday snow storm and my Impala wouldn’t start. I took out the battery and had it tested at Autozone. Battery held a solid charge. I replaced the Starter Relay in hopes for a cheap fix. No luck, but was able to get the car started. I called Hotchkiss and David (The Owner) immidiately answered, DESPITE BEING CLOSED. He walked me through a list of reasons why the car wouldn’t start, and told to bring it in. Within 30 minutes he had found the problem (a bad Starter) and quoted a very reasonable price. An hour later he had the car running like new. Fantastic ownership, knowledgable and willing to help outside of business hours. Can’t be beat! THANKS HOTCHKISS!

What can I say about this business and its owner? My old car keeps on ticking with 268k on the odometer, and Hotchkiss keeps on finding reasonable ($) solutions to potentially expensive problems. Honest, creative, high quality people from the owner, to the mechanics, to the front office. Take your car here, and you will not be disappointed. Love these guys!!!

Best experience EVER! As a female, I am extremely cautious when having my car worked on. I recognize that I don’t know enough and could easily be taken advantage of if I don’t watch it. Ladies, you can feel comfortable here! The folks at Hotchkiss were so incredibly friendly and helpful! They did an excellent and timely job on my car! The mechanic even took the time to show me the actual part that had broken in my car and explained why it happened. They were so informative and almost over communicated status updates (which I absolutely LOVED)! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that type of service! I will go back to Hotchkiss every time now! I’ve found my auto shop!

We have been taking our vehicles to Hotchkis for 8 years. Their work is awesome, they are honest efficient, and fair. Christy is very helpful and friendly. I recommend Hotchkis whenever anyone I know needs a good mechanic.

Great service. Honest shop. First time I took my car in, I swore up and down I needed new shocks. They saved me over $ 1K by fixing the alignment instead. Second time I went in for a standard oil change and 100k tune up. It cost way less than I was expecting! They called regularly with updates, cost estimates and made recommendations for things I could do myself. Great shop! I would highly recommend.

We were really impressed with the service we received at Hotchkiss. We called several shops that wouldn’t even be able to do a diagnostic for several days, until one of them finally recommended Hotchkiss.
We were able to bring our Pontiac in immediately and had it back first thing the next morning. We especially appreciated that Patrick was completely honest with us (that they couldn’t be certain about the cause of our issue) and therefore didn’t try to sell us unnecessary services or parts. This will definitely be the repair shop we use in the future.

Found these guys via Unilocal,I needed my brakes done and had the parts but decided to have it done by pros instead. My regular shop wouldn’t do it using my parts, these guys would and at a reasonable price — no warranty though, which is ok.
Very friendly by phone and in person, a great experience so far.
Update, they did the work exactly as quoted and no sales job trying to fix other parts of the car. Highly recommend.

This place is awesome. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else for auto repairs or maintenance. they are really busy for good reasons but somehow they always seem to squeeze me in and do a fantastic job. This is the only mechanic shop that I trust. I am confident that they will never feed me lies to jack up rates and I’ve never had a problem here. Christi, the office manager is extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant.

I had my timing belt replaced at Hotchkiss, took a long time to get my vehicle repaired, 5 business days. The price was $ 100 to $ 150 more expensive than two local competitors (called and got quotes). Asked for all replaced parts, did not get them. I think they fixed what they said but without the replaced parts it is harder to know. Both the women working in the front office are nice enough. But that only goes so far. I think I will go elsewhere next time.

Called and got a quote on what I believed was an alternator problem. She purposely quoted higher just to be safe. Car got there and they could have easily charged me the original quote of $ 570 and lied to me about the end result of the problem, instead they found out the problem and I walked out paying less than $ 100. Car runs great, I was treated great. I will not trust another place in denver with my car. Several other places that BS’d me when I tried deciding where to have the tow truck drop my car off, lost forever business with myself and my spouse. THANKS HOTCHKISS!

We won’t go anywhere besides Hotchkiss now. Our Jeep needed a lot of repairs, we got a very reasonable quote from Marco. When getting bids to get our cars fixed, I never know if it’s the right bid or who’s the right person to trust. Hotchkiss has earned that trust. They are professional, know their stuff and is easy to work with.
The Jeep was in and out within two days. They treat their clients like friends & family (even loaned me their extra car for the two days mine was in the shop). Getting a car fixed is not a fun task but working with Marco and Krissy (I hope that’s the proper spelling of your name) makes it an enjoyable experience. Thanks again!

I have an old car, and as such, I expect to have to get repairs, sometimes back to back. I’ve taken my car to Hotchkiss twice due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I found the staff to be friendly enough, however, each time, I got the car back, there was either a new problem or the original issue still persists.
First repair $ 1700 front brakes and 2 tires — I got the car back and there was a squeaking due to an ill-​fitted part. When I took it back, they squirted some lube on it and sent me on my way. Clearly, this did not fix the underlying issue, however it did not seem to be dangerous, so I let it go since my schedule is extremely tight.
Second repair, $ 700 back brakes and coolant leak — I got the car back and the front left speaker buzzes excessively, which was not an issue when it was dropped off. More importantly, the initial coolant leak, which led to a larger and more expensive repair, is still leaking, and now the service engine soon light has come on. I realize the engine light could be unrelated.
As an extremely busy grad student with a ridiculous (mostly bus) commute between Denver, Boulder, and Longmont, when I have to allocate $ 3000 of school loans to car repair only to have the problem persist, it is extremely frustrating. It is exceptionally difficult for me to make time to bring the car back a second time to fix what was meant to be fixed the first time, or to find a new mechanic to fix what’s already been paid for.
Now that the service engine light soon has come on, I hesitate to take it back to Hotchkiss a third time. I would like to have the repair done right, without additional costs, but do not feel confident that I can request this based on their «fix» the first time.
A note to David Hotchkiss — I appreciate that you take the time and effort to address each of your unfavorable reviews. If you are willing, I invite a conversation to see how we could resolve this in a way that is fair. Please let me know if this is possible, as I did not find resolution last time. Thank you.

Excellent experience — tires plus wanted to replace my muffler (after a median attacked it) for $ 450. These guys fixed my car in 15 minutes for $ 21.

Great place to take your car. Super friendly and great service. Trustworthy and inexpensive. I have all Audi’s, which are tough to work on and expensive. I wouldn’t go anywhere else as they will do everything they can to help you and explain what is going on with your vehicle. Also, I don’t know why other people (reviews) say Hotchkiss is a rip off. Their hourly rate is cheaper than most, and they’re a quality shop!

This is my first Unilocal review because I am so impressed by the work and professionalism at Hotchkiss. My Mercedes ML500 was in need of some serious work and I got a quote of $ 2600 from a different repair shop. Ouch.
Called Hotchkiss and Christie was a complete sweetheart from start to finish. Just from the initial phone call, she gave me a quote of about $ 2000 for the same work. Still ouch but the difference was all I needed to hear to get me to their shop.
After they got a chance to look at the problems, Christie called me back right away to say that they could fix it without intensive labor (first shop told me my engine would have to be taken out). Not only were they able to fix it for much less, Christie scheduled the repairs in a way so the tech could fix several issues at one time, thus SAVING me more money on labor. How many other shops can say they do that?
My total came out to be $ 775, a savings of $ 1825. For the first time, I felt like I was getting an honest repair shop and genuine service. The staff was diligent and called me every step of the way to let me know where they were on repairs for the two days they had my car. I wish I could give them 10 stars! I will be going to Hotchkiss for all of my car needs from now on.

My ’88 Lincoln, Beatrice, is the only woman who’s never broken my heart. I can’t trust her with just anyone.
This is the second time I’ve patronized Hotchkiss, and the second time I’ve been really, really impressed with all aspects of the experience.
They follow through on everything they say they’ll do: follow up calls to get more info, calling with quotes and willing to talk before signin’ off on work, and ready on time. I’ve read a few posts about cost, but I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for. In addition, they’ve thrown on some hood hydraulic arms and only charged me for parts– that type of good will goes a long, long way.
And I love that they answer any Unilocal reviews below 3 stars. They take their business seriously, and it shows.
I mean, I hope I never have to see them again, but they definitely get a recommendation to anyone I know lookin’ for solid service.

I love this place!
I always feel confident in the work they are doing, and trust that they will give me honest advice and estimates for work that needs doing, before going ahead with it. The service is always pretty speedy too.
The 3 giant pups is just a great bonus when having to take my car to the shop :)

Let’s try this again. My first review was slightly off base because of a lack of questioning from my side. After a review from the owner (major props for responding), I feel a more adequate review can be made.
I usually go to Jeff’s auto off Broadway. They have been good to me and my car, but it’s pretty far out of the way for me. So I tried Hotchkiss. I was going in for an oil change and brake repair. I had an estimate in my mind of how much it would be, but when I got my quote, it was almost double what I was expecting. Here’s where I am at fault — I didn’t ask why it was so much more than what I thought. I had read the reviews for Hotchkiss and knew that they do great work so I thought maybe this is the going price. After the owner responded, I am now aware that the quality of part they are putting in is above average. Which is awesome! I would have liked to be informed of this prior to the quote was given to me, but I should also have asked.
All in all, it was a good experience and would still recommend this place to others.

This is the best auto repair & maintenance shop I am aware of in Denver. This is apparent by the number of customers that are repeat. There’s a waiting period to get your vehicle serviced here, so don’t expect to just drop it off in the morning and pick it up at lunch (just call first, is what I’m suggesting).
I have a 2004 Jeep, and when it started overheating, my old shop guy told me that I probably blew a header, and that it would be ‘like $ 1600 bucks to fix’…
Took it for a second opinion. It was a solenoid or some such crap, fixed for about $ 300. That would have been a $ 1600 dollar mistake, only not to solve the problem had I just stuck with my old shop.
I have a new shop now. Hotchkiss!

I’m a fan, for sure; from their sweet front of the house staff (angelic Christie) to their wonderful 185# English mastiff guard doggie, to their back of the house mechanics. Hotchkiss is a class operation.
The only complaint I had was that their prices, as initially quoted, exceeded by a few dollars what a dealership wanted for the same work. The nice thing was that when I called that to their attention, they recalculated and volunteered to cut almost 20% from the cost.
Work finished when promised and so far the car’s running fine.
