Some years ago, you could go to Hooked and count on an excellent artisan cappuccino or latte with latte art. Seems like quality and pride has slipped. Depending on the barista, you might get a great espresso drink, a mediocre one, or a just plain bad one. You might get your latte in a paper cup even if it’s to stay(seriously guys, it’s not a major capital investment to buy enough cups). If you get a paper cup by mistake and ask for a ceramic cup, they might just pour your latte from the paper cup into the ceramic cup, instead of offering to re-make it properly(a barista who took pride wouldn’t do that). Pastries are usually made the day before, so basically you’re getting day-old pastries for top dollar(some shops might sell them as day-old, or give them away). Please bring back the pride!

Quick Review: Would I go here again: Absolutely Was the tea fresh: YES Ample Outlets for charging: Yes Workable Environment: There Is light chatter amongst people and soft productive music in the background, low enough to drown out the music if your focused on your work, but loud enough to hear if you sit back and relax. Time Spent: Approx 7 Hours Extended: What a great tea/coffee shop/beer. I ordered a cup of herbal tea. The tea I had is very fresh. You can tell when tea is past date, as it leave a bad bitter/stale taste in your mouth. This tea is the exact opposite of stale. I also purchased two oat bars, that are local from Boulder! I think it is great that small business are supporting each other like this locally. Yes I spent at least 7 hours here it was just such an awesome place to get some work done. The people are very respectful, no chairs were bumped and people would ask if the seat next to me was taken. I was surprised when I went back up to the counter to hand back my empty cup of tea, and they asked if I would like more hot water(since I left the tea bag in the cup, whoops.) I was expecting them to take take the cup from me and that was that. What a nice touch. There is also a basement portion, I didn’t enter though. The only downside; this is a minor inconvenience, there is no seating in front of a window to look out of while working on a laptop, conversely it removes any distractions. So it balances out well. Overall I could see myself frequenting this place very often if I lived here.

My favorite coffee shop in Denver. Wonderful music, great spaces for studying or meeting with friends. There is always new art on the walls, and their Yerba Mate is delicious. A friendly place that I hope continues to be a welcoming, unique place for many years to come.

This place is a great neighborhood favorite. The baristas are nice, the coffee is pretty good, and the atmosphere is relaxed. They also serve beer, so you can come here and enjoy beverages perfect for any time of the day. If I wanted an excellent cup of coffee, I might go elsewhere, but if you’re just looking for something that provides«good» all around, this is the place.

I live very close to this establishment and have been meaning to give it a try. Have to say I was provided some of the worst service I have ever received from a Barista and then sipped what was certainly the most putrid excuse for espresso I have ever tasted. I don’t know if I was marked the moment I walked in as «lets give this guy horrible service and worst espresso shot I can summon» or what because the service was so poor the shot so bad I felt it had to be intentional. I could have made a better shot of espresso hand squeezing the beans and pouring scalding water of my bare hands. I might be back to try it again when a different barista is heading the shop but it’s going to be awhile to get that bad taste out of my mouth. There are far too many better coffee shops around.

Hooked on Colfax is a superb coffee joint on the longest street in America. I need to first point out that it’s not just a coffee shop. They sell a wide variety of beers and other libations(I like the whiskey selection personally) as well as some pretty tasty snacks. I’m partial to this spot for several reasons: they’re very close to my work, they always have great art on the walls from local artists, and the staff is super friendly. I’ve spent some great times here with friends before a show at the Bluebird or grabbing a coffee during a break at work. The space inside is great. They have quite a few tables, large booths, a long bar area, and a huge downstairs section with a TV and couches. And, on warm summer evenings the patio area with the large open garage doors is my favorite spot!

awesome!!! first time coming here and being the airhead that I am completely forgot my wallet… I offered to pay with a check and instead the barista suggested I just«owe them». what great service to a first time customer. I’m coming back tomorrow to pay for my drink and add a generous tip. how nice :)

My iced mocha was delicious. There is a good amount of space to work or meet for the location. However, in the summer, the basement was SOHOT. No air flow. I’m not sure why there’s not a fan down there. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

Guy at the front was nice. Coffee smelled amazing walking in. I ended up getting a monkey poo. It’s a blended drink with chocolate protein powder nutty peanut butter banana and almond milk. Definitely recommend. Filled me up for lunch. Good size. Would come back here for sure.

I decided to check this place out after having lunch at Denver biscuit and co. I ordered an ice bhakti chai to go and it was delicious! Their menu is pretty limited but they also serve beer from various local places around town and they have very unique iced teas like black tea with passion fruit and hibiscus. I want to come back and study here because there seems to be alot of seating. There is also ample street parking when I went but granted I did go on a monday so it shouldn’t be crowded.

I super dig the space, the beverages, and the moes bagels!(which is nice because the moes line is very long and they have very unimpressive coffee at the actual bagel shop. ever notice how bagel shops have worse coffee the better the bagel is? this place is the solution) I also really want the space art on the wall.

So much space to hangout! My mocha was above par. Plenty of power and wifi, but most impressive of all is the seating. They take up two store fronts and the basements of each for seating. See my photos…

Atmosphere and Space: I have been here a couple of times to get some late-night emails pumping. The atmosphere is definitely relaxed. It is also a very huge space, so I do not think getting a space will be an issue. I usually go to the tables when you first immediately enter the establishment. There is also a back area and a basement area. Coffee Drinks: I usually get straight black coffee at coffee places; however, I decided to be adventurous and get a latte(soy milk). I was definitely disappointed. It tasted really burnt. I am not too sure if that is the standard taste(I hardly get lattes in general). But I am pretty sure that their black coffee tastes decent. Non-Coffee Drinks: Their cookies are hit or miss, cookies immediately from the oven tasted awesome, but cookies that have lingered, were kinda hard and stale. I also had two of their smoothies — Acai and Banana/Strawberry. The Acai one was really good but the Banana/Strawberry one was kinda meh(on the menu I believe it says«freshly squeezed apples, or something like that, and I saw the server poured regular apple juice from the fridge…). Staff: The staff are pretty friendly and I have not had a negative experience with any of them. Overall: If I am near Colfax and need to go to a late night study place close to where I live, I would come here.

Had a FANTASTIC latte. Like, probably the best I’ve had in a couple of years. Came here to plop down and work for a couple of hours. Did just that. Had both a nice sort of social vibe(people would pop in to chat, dude at the counter talked to regulars, etc.) but you could still do work. I’d imagine downstairs is a little quieter.

When you can find parking, this place is a easy spot to either drop in for a quick coffee or a place to plop down for hours to log in some major work. I really enjoy the layout of the space — two narrow rooms only divided by a thin wall, and a downstairs area for even more space. One side is lined with deep booths and high tip tables and the other side is lined with the bar and a few bistro tables to socialize. They make one hell of a smoothie and had a pretty tasty looking bagel sandwich. I look forward to visiting them soon for a coffee, a study, and a bagel sandwich!

I would be remiss if I didn’t review my Hooked on Colfax during my CoffeeThesisProposal endeavors. It’s the closet coffee shop to my house, and a place that will always soothe my soul. Hooked has whatever you want. Study space, social gathering space, bar space. It feels like several different coffee shops, with 2 upper and 2 lower rooms, plus a front patio on colfax, and a back patio that is basically like hanging out in your own backyard. I will say though, the wifi is not up to snuff. I frequently do work on a remote cluster that requires a consistent wifi connection. Hooked’s wifi is generally a little slow, but the main issue is that it resets frequently and disrupts my connection. Very annoying.

Hello lovely… why didn’t I know of you before… the most romantic Mocha Latte ever! Just saying you need to venture over there and check them out, free Wifi and outdoor seating and the most unpretentious place to chat with a friend and or work while sipping a delicious cup of something wonderful. Ok, I know that was a run on sentence but I can’t help myself… it was good to finally stop in as I had passed it numerous times. I was not disappointed. Also, serving some lunch items and some sweets. Might use Tiffany’s tip and check out HAPPYHOUR… oh, my cool.

Cozy coffee shop close to my workplace. Had a hot chocolate which wasn’t anything special but good enough to keep me warm on a very cold afternoon. While the store is cozy, I have to agree with previous reviewers that the staff was uninterested and had to actually ask them to take my order. Better service would definitely make me a returning customer since I try to visit local coffee shops and not the big chain ones.
